I don’t think we RATM fans realize how lucky we were that a band like this broke into the mainstream. Each member of this band is just so explosive and musically creative that it is insane to think they came together and formed a band. Always in awe of them, always.
so true
💯. And with only Tom showing for the Rock Hall induction Did u hear his speech. On deaf ears…
APATHY is the NEW PANDEMIC
I just want to keep myself 🎉
I was gonna see them in Oakland in March of 23 but the tour got cancelled, I pray I get one more chance bros. Need to see these absolute trailblazers
This band live was like Godzilla.
A force of fucking nature.
Lol they had a song in Godzilla😂
@@faytgreen3308 Not just that but they also opened the set with it!
LOL I was just about to say what the 2 comments said here. Epic!
Irony = All of us teenagers singing Bullet in the Head whilst wearing Nike drinking Coke and waiting in line to be searched at Woodstock '99. It was so nice.
Nah. I Woulda worn Adidas and drank rc cola😂
Hope you didn't consume the brown acid
@@faytgreen3308Adidas!!!
YESSIR
@@dougallen6677 I avoided that like the brown water around the portapotties!
And the band mandated a big corporate pharmacutical shot to be taken in order to be allowed at the concert... Talk about irony. "Now you do what they told ya"
These lyrics mean a lot more to me today, than they did 25 years ago.
They mean less to these millionaire hypocrites.
The lyrics ring hollow when you realize that RATM loved the machine that fed them their millions. Great music but their lyrics are total nonsense.
@@07foxmulder They enforced the jab at concerts. Just new World shills telling us "the Truth" required by their code. Tom Morello's father was an ambassador to Kenya and just happened to go to high school with Adam Jones who plays for Tool. All just coincidences I'm sure...
Oh, and they were both from "Libertyville" - perfectly staged for the lyrical content.
Oh yea how so?
One of the greatest bands of all TIME.
LOL, greatest bunch of crybabies and hypocrites.
one of the WHICH!!! Indeed
That’s so laughable! More like, the greatest hypocrites of the music industry.
Nothing but commie garbage, now the fight for the machine. 😂
not in 2024
LMFAO
One of the greatest bands of the 90's
THE greatest band of the 90`s
Your opinion and def a strong one. Def had the most to say, such a shame more didn't listen.
MushroomBro ONE. but still very strong.
agree with you bro,!!
Of all time!
Your anger is a gift.
Agreed.
Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. Rage against the machine i must
They seriously nailed it in this footage
I wasn't at this show, but I saw them in L.A. in 1999 or 2000. I was so pumped to see them that I got drunk and pissed myself. My piss was flowing down the bleachers. The guy in front of me realized he was standing in my piss because he turned around seeing me still pissing (in a cup my this time, which was overflowing). He could have punched me and started a fight, but he didn't want to get kicked out for fighting especially since the show just started. Rage is such a kick ass band that dudes are willing to stand in another dude's piss just to see them. He ended up rushing down to the pit shortly thereafter. I can't believe I'm writing this story here, but it's just another example of how crazy Rage concerts were back then.
This is the epitome of cool. I literally got goose bumps multiple times. Rage is fuckin amazing. Them and NIN are the 2 reasons I ever started listening to rock in the first place. I was raised ghetto so all I knew was rap, hip hop and R&B. Now NIN and Rage are in my top 4 all time.
This is them at their absolute best! I wasn't a huge fan of the band until I saw them perform this live set back when they broadcast this on MTV in '99. . Been a fan since. Trully one of the most authentic bands that exists. Never comprimised and never sold out. Legendary status ... achieved.
also no city wanted them to play because of the political views
Facts.
@@yoboipaxt0n_lit57I mean bro the group is called “rage against the machine” if you name a group that today you’ll be in jail for domestic T word ism…
@@shanejones578why does that feel true the failure of today’s society
@@yoboipaxt0n_lit57 because it’s going to collapse any day now. They’ve been on borrowed time since April 1992 and counting…
Watched the docu series and not one mention of this set . They absolutely crushed it.
They mentioned it but only once or twice no footage or music. Hell this would’ve been the band you’d thought everyone would’ve started breaking shit. I know I would’ve. Being in Arkansas and only 18 that would have been a long trip from home lol
@JayDee-eu7hr they where mention like twice, And also a picture of Zack de la Rocha jumping in the air was shown.
Probably cause RATM actually agreed to play at a lower volume to try to get people to calm down some after a lot of crazy happened during Limp Bizkit.
it was ao disappointing ... I Swear
I thought it was mediocre. After awhile it all sounds the same. Cant listen to them for to long these days. At the time though....
Tom Morello is such a creative guitar player, this band was amazing
Our generations Jimi Hendrix
@@oleschmeed3916 LOL, get some ears.
Unfortunately that’s the only good thing about Tom Morello.
@@BrooklynBalla that's kinda true. while he doesnt do AS much conspiracy stuff as commerford (with the exception of some dumb things about the uyghur genocide) he definitely sucked when it came to Bernie
@@BrooklynBalla tell me you bought a bible from a ray-pist national traitor without telling me. This band is disgusted by you. Stop listening to them, you don't deserve it
The energy of this band is unmatched 🤘

RATM always blended the best abstraction of tone with groove...with a detailed and slick arrangement...one of the best funk bands...if I dare sling a label...
no phones, no wall-led pannels, few lights. and a great concert
Man...goosebumps everytime I watch that flag being set on fire in the breakdown of Killing in the Name of...
🤣🤣🤣
Saw these guys open for house of pain at the trocadaro in Philly late eighty’s early ninety’s. No one had even heard of them yet, they opened with Bombtrack and the place went absolutely nuts!!!!
holy fuck thats a sick combo
I have an interesting story about this show... my dad's band was The Tragically Hip, so they played the same day, I was only about 9 at the time and even having been to tons of concerts my whole life... when we went out to see Rage... there was way to much mud, way to many messed up people, I think too many naked ladies for my comfort zone, and RATM was just way to intense at the time, so put all those things together; all amazing things I would've loved to experience the rest of my life/now etc etc... I told my dad somewhere after a few songs in this set... can we head back? I couldn't do it. This was from way back too... so we went back to the tour bus and played Mario Kart on the n64.
That's an experience. . Gord Downie and family stayed at a little resort in Algonquin Park I worked at leading up to this. It was wild to see him go from paddling around the lake to singing in front of a few hundred thousand people in a matter of days. Cheers from Bobcaygeon Ontario. The Hip was the soundtrack to my generation of Canadians. Cheers.
Amazing show, was about a 100 yards back stage right. Always wondered what happened with People of the Sun never finishing.
It didn't seem to be going well (maybe Brad couldn't hear himself or something) and probably decided to move on. The camera also panned weird, like when someone jumps the fence at a game.
First and only time I’ve seen them live, Still waiting for a second show
Lol
They were gonna tour this year but they had to cancel cause Zack tore the tendons in his leg
1999 when Musicians actually played instruments, and they actually sang; If you were caught Lip Syncing you were banned from the Music Industry. How Fucking Times Change...
And when people in crowds knew how to act not holding up they're cell phones to record 30 sec soundbites of a 60 min show for their social network account saying look at me! Does anybody mosh anymore?
These guys were and still are leagues ahead of whoever played at Woodstock. Really sucks that they were WAY ahead of their time and couldn't get their message across to the listeners.
not really there were a lot of really good performers and performance, you're eating the usual lib nonsense that "woodstock 99 skd"..all festival suck really
I would not say ahead of their time They were huge
Tom Morello ‘s speech recently at the HOF induction -. Shows you it’s worse. ,, more apathy cause we are all addicted to internet dope
Oh I think their message was heard by their devout fans loud and freaking clear. The politics of that time were different now. Doesn’t mean that their message wasn’t heard. RATM will always be relevant.
Remember watching this live on TV with my friends. Badass.
99 at their peak, saw them in 97 was awesome.
I feel like Zach’s voice was at its peak in 96-97. Some live shows of those years are so sick
Was there...maybe 30 yards from stage in center...crowd surges were like nothing ever experienced. Was an amazing event despite the neg press. Some of these sets are unlike any before and the people were as far as you could see. Best times ✌️ ☮️
QUE PODER DE BANDA EN VIVO¡¡¡
show do caralho mano, isso sim e rage against the machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! porra..... saudades~~~~~~
What a great weekend... awesome set by Rage... but everything was awesome that weekend... my group left early Sunday.. ended up a good move
Always such a kick ass band. Got to hang out with Morello when I lived in LA. Nice down to earth guy.
how i wish that there is a HD version of this...\m/
There has been a better video up for decade on TH-cam. But Google deleted it last year, as some vulnerable pop gen z dolls have been striking it.
25 years later and more relevant than ever
Even this song old look like new...one of the badass band🦾🦾🦾🦾
One of great perfornace i ever see!
Os cara é foda

Gosto do baixo uma das bandas que consigo escutar
I was just to the right (stage left) of the first camera/speaker tower out from the stage... Every time I hear Rage Against the Machine I think of this very performance. One of the best performances of that fkt up WEEKend.
2021: "I suspect their lyrics speak of politics."
❤left impossible in important documents
Most wicked sounds!!!!
Melhor banda que existe 🇧🇷
Me hubiera encantado haber estado ahí.
So glad I was lucky enough to see them in 97, my favorite band since🤘
One thing I've always wondered @ 6:13...they never played the final chorus during People of the Sun...any reason? You can hear Brad keeping the beat as the last chorus is about to hit but it never happens. Seems like Tom forgot to play his part to keep the song going.
Saw them in Vancouver '97
Incredible
Power groove !!!! We re all P of the sun. come on, remind this stellar burning monk .......on one of their first lp
Bring it back bring it back yall come on
I was at this show. It was practically a religious experience seeing this phenomenal band!
This is sooooo good hell ya
Great!!!!
Holy fucking shit. I never thought "Wake Up" could get me more amped until I heard it live... I did not think that song could get anymore hype. Excuse I gotta... I gotta throw something through a window. You understand don't you?
90’s produced the best rock bands of all time.

Honestly what have we done to have been able to be blessed with this masterpiece

1:44 ooooh my...
I saw them live in Ireland in the 90,s band started playing but no sign of the singer , all these roadies walking around the stage then this bald guy grabbed the mike and started screaming into it, he was after shaving his head the crowd when wild, what a gig never too be forgotten.
BEST BAND OF THE WORLD!!!! PERIOD

Rock on it🎉

The Best.
PURE RAWNESS 🔥
The Entire fucking set is 🔥 🔥 🔥
nice NFL hat on Tim... but it was only the late 90's, so we only knew of a few machines we should be raging against at that time...

Now that u know everything do you come for me ......how do u get here staying the same age but years later? 16bars
There All good in the 90s!!!
Woodstock99 is history⭐⭐⭐
I have to stay unhealthy and I will with this part of u and love sperate but vibin
Had to be one of the best Bass and Guitar combos in history….
Truly. Commerford is one of my bigger influences and I feel like the bass world doesn’t talk about him as much as they should. It’s always about flea when Tim is wayyyy more tasteful and has much better tone for this era
8 Years ago: First performance.
Best set at Woodstock hands down
