I still reckon the CLP's looked best in the green, yellow and siver livery of the 90's Indian Pacific

In India we had the world locomotive Alco DL500 (Indian locomotive class WDM-1)! 100 locomotives were produced between 1957~1959 and they served well into year 2000 and withdrawn!

They have the GM 645 E 3 ? they sound like our 071 class in Ireland and the roof is similar with a single exhaust outlet. They also have a similar bogie GM Flexicoil type.

Hello from the USA< Loved seeing the old units. It's amazing that they are still using them. Have they been upgraded/modernized?

The CL Class (EMD Model AT26C) locos built between 1970-1972 were mechanically identical to the EMD Model GT26C and the last in the world to be built with the EMD Bulldog-nose; but, differ from previous builds by having a mansard style roof. They were upgraded in 1990's to the CLP (EMD Model AT26HC-2M) & CLF (AT26C-2M) specifications - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_Railways_CL_class
The 421 Class (EMD Model AJ16C) locos built between 1965-1966 description - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_South_Wales_421_class_locomotive

We lived 2 doors up from the Cowan Store/Post Office on the service road @ 1181 Pacific Hwy for about 8 years until Margaret and I moved up to Townsville, Qld when we Retired. Margaret was the Post Mistress at Cowan for over 20+ years ( Margaret Boag ) as her Dad Joesph Boag bought the Post Office and used to run it from their house @ 1181 until it got moved down to the Store.
I spent many a happy hour watching the Trains battle their way up Cowan bank being the Big Kid that I am, Great memories.
Still remember the groaning, squealing and clunking in the middle of the night as the Freight Trains wound their way up from Brooklyn. Top Video!!!
    Cheers from Sunny Qld. Denis.

Awesome video! Does Queensland Rail use a narrow gauge? Are containers ever transferred between wagons of different gauges? What kind of cargo is the wagons with holes on the sides?

Queensland does use 3' 6" (1067 mm) "Narrow Gauge" throughout the bulk of the state, but there has been a Standard Gauge (4' 8 1/2" or 1435 mm) gauge from the border near Kyogle, to South Brisbane and in 1986 (IIRC) across the river to Roma St. Containers are transferred at Acacia Ridge in Brisbane's south western suburbs, from NG to SG and vice-versa everyday. As for the loading in the ventilated containers, that I couldn't say for sure.
