I've had my Honda HRU194 since 1996 and it hasn't missed a beat. Mines only 24 years old, so its your mowers little brother. A couple of oil changes, a couple of spark plugs and a few sets of blades and i just mowed the lawn with it today.
I believe it I have a hrb216 from 1995 and it still runs perfect the transmission no longer works but the clutch that turns the blades on and off still works and everything and it works perfectly
Just inherited my dads old 194, hadnt been started in 4 years and started after 2 pulls. Definitely want to keep this thing going for 1million miles. It's been stored indoors entire life and very happy to have it now
@@ridewithwarro haha I already did. Well about a year ago I bought the cheapest mower from Lowes with a honda motor, did well but happy with the new old honda now
Don't listen to any comments about maintaining this mower. Apparently you're doing something right just keep doing what you're doing. It might just last for another 34 years
Hi Warro just going through old lawn mower video's came across a voice I have heard before and It was you gee the Honda still going strong after all Those's year's I got myself a new HRU216 last weekend normally $1800 got for $1400 hope it lasts as long as your old HR194 and yes still got my 21 500x.
Had a HRU194 since 1989 runs perfectly and starts first pull every time. Just change the oil , clean air filter and checked the valve clearances once ( still in spec ) and still on original spark plug. Someone at Honda Engineering didn`t get the planned obsolescence email on this model. This mower will see me out.
Wow! only two spark plugs in 35 years ? I've been changing the oil, spark plug and cleaned the air filter every year for the last 36 years on my Honda electric start roller mower.
Can you get Jules to teach my wife how to start (and use) the mower? Jules certainly knows how to wield that Honda, it's not her first rodeo.... Mine? Honda HRU197, 15 yrs and going strong. I've got a few years to catch up with you Warro. Glad you don't update your mower with the same frequency as your two wheeled contraptions!
sorry about late reply- jules can handle that lawn mover much better now- i had the right call buying her a honda . she has had 35 years experience with it now. actually tried it out the other day . your right about the mowers-one good is enough...lol
Just saved one of these from going to the tip. Needs some wheel bearings and a tidy up but cool mower. Think I'll spend a little bit of money to keep it kicking
I have this same mower. You really need to change the oil every 2 seasons minimum. It looks clean on the dipstick but trust me it is completely broken down and very dark when you drain it after only 2 seasons. This will prolong the piston life and as you can hear in the video at start up it is not right and that motor is banging at 1st. Mine does not sound like this at start up.
must agree there. ive been happy with both cars and mower. didn't think it would last as long as this.prior to that i used victa 2 strokes and 2 or 3 years they were history. this one is now nearly 38 years old.....lol
I just bought one today in 2024....hard catcher, because of this video. Thanks mate!
Glad I could help!

just not sure if i ever had to buy a brand new mower- i some-how doubt it would live up to these made in japan units

dont think the new lines would be anywhere near as good as these were

surprise how well they go and for how long. pretty bad when you think I may never buy another lawn mower...lol
@@ridewithwarro haha I already did. Well about a year ago I bought the cheapest mower from Lowes with a honda motor, did well but happy with the new old honda now
plus the wife has had 35 years experience with that mower now and even wears the correct safety gear...lol

lol ...thats exactly what i plan to do. might as well see it out!

great mower thats for sure
great old mower, i have a honda 4 stroke weedeater and a honda motorcycle they certainly do make great engines
in all honesty I didn't expect it to last this long. I am actually taking a look at a honda in a day or so. a crf250l

the old problem with those early Hondas-you really didn't get the chance to buy another one!...lol

wight as well-this one is still going-maybe not as strong but 35 years later virtually untouched.

not much i can say here. i bought it iback n 1986 i think and its still going in 2022
Honda makes good lawnmowers and cars they last for years
must agree there. ive been happy with both cars and mower. didn't think it would last as long as this.prior to that i used victa 2 strokes and 2 or 3 years they were history.

Just sold my Honda hr194 good lawnmower
this one is still going. a bit rattley but apart from that still does the job
Please change your oil changing schedule to once every 2 years instead of once every 5 years especially when you eventually get a new one
i think its beyond that now-lol but it has been a very good mower. wife had it running just a few days back and still rattles on
I have a HR214 from 1985..It sounds just like yours.....These are considered commercial grade by todays standards
probably rigt there too. got a very good run out of this unit
In today's standards it'd be Lifetime durability. Don't think the commercial ones are built nearly as good as the old ones.
Great don't forget to clean that air filter later 🤗
that too...lol
Quality machine like that in such good condition deserves a nice clean down and all the leaves and crap blown off the top of the deck.
that too!
Hello any idea how much the new price was?
Have the same one and it is a great machine
when new in 1985 it was in roughly aud$ 680
In 1985, houses were only $600 🤣
You do the lawnmower huh, ???
that too!
@@ridewithwarro Honda good huh,
surprised your missus still has all her toes after 34 years. Please buy her a pair of steel toecap boots or trainers.
I think she was only 21 then...lol
well presented :) Cheers.
Thank you! Cheers! mower still running great.bit rough on start up but still cutting.
