Free to play and EA, waiting for the shitshow. As a fan since day one, I really wanted an offline story game experience. This Game as a service model is braindead - we have seen many games going down... Feel sorry for the devs. I am sure if you really ask them, they hate game as a service too. Thanks for your update. Once they shutdown the servers, its over. All your progress is gone. You won´t even be able to play the game anymore.

ive never played skate for the story lmao, it was always mid at best. been playing testing for a while and im having just as much fun as i did in skate 2 & 3 🤷 as long as when the game launches it has offline mode i think it will be fine personally.
would happily PAY for a complete awesome fleshed out story but unfortunately they wouldnt want that

I do have a feeling they’ll at least have a “solo” or private session mode, where you can just chill by yourself or with friends if you dont wanna be around a bunch of random players and do the missions or challenges around the map, if you want more of that ‘single player’ experience

As a huge fan of all the Skate games. Starting from the first game. I'm hesitant to say the least. I'm concerned it's going to be filled to the brim with micro transactions, poor graphics, and lack a sense of character. I truly hope I'm wrong. But development hell is a term for a reason.

I have been a part of the last few playtests. It's pretty disappointing and definitely going to be a predatory microtransaction hell hole. At this point, I am about 80% confident this game is a no starter for me when it comes out. Fucking EA.

Been playing closed since mid 2024, recent updates got me really hyped, they tone down a lot of the mandatory parkour that was present, customization is easy to unlock, just need to see how the premium coins will be handled

At this point, i'm setting myself up for the worst when it comes to EA and microtransactions. They say cosmetic only which is good news, but I can guarantee that they will add Fortnite style skins, which should not and does not need to be in a Skate game let alone fit or suit the genre, just another petty cash grab. There has been an overwhelming demand for an offline mode, honestly they must add it, for the sake of the future of the game, if they want this to be the only Skate going forward, we need game preservation, we NEED to be able to play offline, bottom line.

Oh, there are all kinds of goofy fortnite esque options. Crackhead bunny costumes and Grim reaper costumes galore. All the real life gear will be locked behind purchasable in game currency, with very sparse options.
So, it's free to play. But, pay to look like a normal skater and support a couple of your favorite brands. Which, I already do with the real skate gear I use. I don't want to buy a bunch of shit for a game that is live service. What happens when they shut the servers down? I get nothing for my money. Fuck that.

i play tested it 2 times and game up on the 3rd session proposal. theyre going with a lot of stuff the community doesnt want and theyre not quite listening although they had a forum for people to comment and ''make it better'' its like theyre aiming for kids rather than skater (regardless of age)

skate 2 was the best skate is only not the best cuz u couldn't get off the board and as many tricks but the fact that u could walk in to shops and see sponsor tapes etc was such a great feature that they will never bring back

If you haven't played session it's fire I copped it when it was on sale. DONT BUY IT IF THERE IS NO SALE. If you really skate you'll love it. It's nothing like skate 3.. unreal engine graphics I love everything about session BUT the maps are medium sized not much to do there is hellllllaaaaaaa maps to play it's mad dope like I said before if you really skate you'll love it. The maps just boring and the controls will have you looking stupid on skate 3 it confuses me and I played skate 3 since It came out 😂 if they made session open world, dawg it would be the most realistic dope ass skating game ever made . It's single player only tho

The thing that Skate 1 and Skate 2 over Skate 3 fans always neglect to mention that made Skate 3 the superior game is create-a-park and hardcore mode. Once we figured out the merge glitch CAP became the place for hardcore players and creatives who wanted to more realistically emulate skateboarding. I probably made close to 100 parks in Skate 3.
Anyway, I say all of this because if you’re going to be like…meeehh, skate 2 was so much better, you need perspective 😂 CAP and hardcore mode was peak Skate.

I'm absolutely ecstatic about playing this game; However, I'm trying not to get my hopes too high because modern game launches today really do disappoint most of the time. But the team really feel like they know what their doing, and won't disappoint.
I still hope there’s spots where security chases you and you can call up a homie to help keep the guard off you regardless if he’s online or not. If he’s online maybe give the other person the option to accept the help and reward some sort of ingame point reward.

I wish the cinematography style was more similar to Skate 1 and 2's aesthetic. It still looks flat and bland compared to those games aesthetic style. It looks so far like a Skate 3 remake as a MMO. I definitely want Skate 4 to release. It also seems like many long time Skate fans will end up enjoying it, but I wish Skate 4, with all the time it's been since Skate 3, didn't seem so much like Skate 3.
I just got back into Skate 1 and it‘s still such a good game. Can’t believe it‘s 18 years old.
@JustMarySk8 I think many people never actually explored Skate 1. I think the same can be said to Skate 2 as well. Many people really jumped into Skate 3 and loved the series just from that game alone. Normally, you'd think that is no issue. Because Skate 3 was the latest game, so people would assume it's the best one. So why look into the previous ones? But the previous ones weren't just simple lesser versions of Skate 3, Skate 1 and 2 were different than Skate 3 and unique in their own right. I guess it's also more like preferences too. Because you can have things from the older ones, that are more liked than Skate 3. But I do think Skate 1 is the most overlooked. Even when Skate 2 is overlooked over Skate 3. I'd still have to say that Tony Hawk Underground 1 is my #1 Skate game overall. If there was a spiritual successor to this game, story and all, even better if it had co-op and multiplayer, it would be the dream skate game.
skate 1 and 2 aesthetic wouldn't make sense in this game. the city and characters are built around skating so it's gonna look all colorful and accepting rather than monotone and rejecting skaters
I think it's mostly due to the camera settings your player character uses, and not entirely the environment of the game. I'm sure there will be post-processing settings we can add to change the look of our games camera. I played the Skate 2 on SkaterXL on PC, and the map looks completely different because SkaterXL uses different post-processing camera settings so it doesn't have the nostalgic Skate 2 feel. I have camera mods that allow me to adjust the lens of my camera so I can play the game and have it look exactly like Skate 2.
I'm just scared this game is going to become dead in a few months after full release, which will kill the whole Skate series.

Game is fun AH. Even more fun with everyone always online. Players throw down some ramps and flat bars and the whole crowd starts jamming. Very, very dope IMO. Still a ways to go and needs tweaking but I look forward to grinding all the challenges.
8:17 I'm sure these things were in the last one too. The fast flick would pop faster and higher. And power slides and bones Ollie's could be done if you knew how to tweak the sticks. But again it's looking good. And also fun
I recently tried to go back to Snow after taking a long break and was super irritated to find that the game is completely disabled when the developers servers went offline. It's essentially guaranteed since this is a free to play online only game that this game will become unplayable one day when the servers go offline. Let's hope modders step in once that happens.
I am testing pre-alpha for a while now and it is great! Fun, creative, there are some stuff I'd like to see changed but overall it is awesome. IF they don't destroy it by shoving the paid content in our faces too much...

I really likes the essence in style in skate 2. i wish it will look a littele bit like that visually. Like fish eye perspectives and overall skating culture
The latest playtest with hi res textures was really good. The church looked dope.
I hope they have a good park creator mode. I want to see recreations of tony hawks maps like new jersey and suburbia, etc. Theyd be so fun to revisit in a skate game

It's gonna be dead. Skateboarding is not popular enough to maintain a whole live service game. Plus the monetization is going to be awful. This is EA we are talking about. They will shut down the game the second the player count goes below a million people

Here’s to hoping there is a map maker like the OG skate games. Shit could get really wild with community made maps. That’s the best part of Skater XL but only if you’re playing on PC.
They said there will be community parts of the city where anyone can edit it live and add stuff. Sounds potentially chaotic, but you would assume they would also add a park editor too

Great video. I recently made a video on this, but I don't think they'll be waiting until the end of the year to release the early access.. People seem to forget that it will ABSOLUTELY be a bad idea to launch a game too close to GTA 6. There is definitely hype for skate 4 but it cannot come close to competing with GTA for a release space. If EA want as many people playing from day one, they will have to release it sooner. I'm hoping they use the 15 year anniversary of skate 3 in may to do that.

If EA doesnt add a solo/single player mode just shows they dont listen and dont care.
With GTA6 speculated for this year (who knows if they’ll push it back) Skate needs to be released before it so GTA6 doesn’t flood player count
realistically, if the actual game mechanics are good, which they are, i got to try one of the alphas last year, it'll be really cool to be able to play it with a bunch of people in the world too. they can charge for cosmetic as much as they want, if you can do all the normal content i expect in a skate game and the game itself feels good, then it'll be a good time

I already know that the game will be fun, but it will also be a matter of how annoying the monetization aspects will be. If it stays for cosmetics only, that would be nice. They initially stated that they won't put any actual gameplay progression behind a paywall.
You know what I never hear people talk about when referencing the greatness of the old skates? Board graphics and cosmetics. The physics are what make the game. Having to buy a t shirt doesn't change that.

I have played the most recent playtest where they have added rich textures and extra features. It's looking really good, game engine max's out at 198 fps. It plays very smooth and flows more than the previous skate games. The hold up is making it work across cross gen.

The absolutely abysmal progress they've made after 5 years is kind of sad, especially consider the size of their teams compared to modern indie skate games like Session or SkaterXL
I can see where you’re coming from, but it’s taking them long because they’re listening to the community and doing multiple play test throughout the years
They have cycled thru so many devs because of SXL/Session devs drama…. I feel like Full Circle is listening and taking time vs leaving us in the dust like SXL/Sessions did plus compensating the devs, SXL/SESSIONS devs weren’t compensated and left which caused more drama

I’ve playtested nearly every closed alpha build and it’s completely all over the place with changes made that are the literal opposite of what people have been asking for. It’s been in development too long at this point which means it’s gonna get pushed out in an unfinished state.
It’s a pandering mess that identifies as a skate game, but is really a micro transaction skateboard arcade. Mark my words, there will be a battle royale mode for SVB, the purchasable currency for micro transactions.

I finally got in on XBOX X and it is fun but still some work on things. I feel it get there. The first SKATE games everything was dialed more. Still glitchy but they will get that under control.

9:00 I really don't see it coming out end of the year because of GTA 6, UNLESS R* delays the game into 2026. Only because I've heard multiple game companies are trying to avoid releasing their games around it because I mean as much as I love skate and as much as we all do GTA 6 is probably the most anticipated game of all time millions will be playing it and I think that's something EA is aware of. Hopefully Skate 4 drops mid summer but no later than September or if GTA 6 is delayed then we get that in the fall time instead.

For the love of God ea make a skate game set in the 90s with a gritty story. Do something different. Doesn't always have to be bubblegum pop and smiles. Showcase raw skating and the lifestyle that can surround it.
Hopefully they give us new story as the seasons progress

I've always play skate just like I skate... TO HAVE FUN! Not looking for crazy graphcis or insane mechanics, but my biggest fears is that on the online mode, people will be doing way too crazy tricks, and I've always playes skate games, to do simpler tricks, and on a multiplayer mode which "whoever makes more points" wins.... People will be truning into beyblades lol

I'ma simple man, I don't need a career mode or any of that. I've played all the previous installation and loved the simple and somewhat realistic stories but even with that I'm not gonna be super disappointed if this game doesn't have a career mode or a good one. Now what will piss me off is if it's completely live and doesn't have a offline mode like the other skate games and even riders Republic. Safe to say I'm worried for this launch. Also worried for the absolute shit ton of micro transactions, which I understand that they have to earn money but Jesus please don't be pay to win or a fornite clone or sumn. Not saying I won't buy it but I just will be bothered.

My expectations are pretty low for this one. I've been shredding a lot of skate 3 on my steam deck via Xbox cloud. It streams flawlessly at 60 fps and controls are super responsive. I wish they would just port it to PC
