Physics in 3D simulations have a tendency to reach close to infinite values for any force, this can cause games to crash constantly for no apparent reason. So caps are added to curb the calculations when things get out of hand. Eveything has caps, from video games, to 3D suits like Blender and Maya, even to scientific physics simutator/imaging softwares, which would be surprising since we expect the scientific tools to be capless... for science ^_^ So, in the future, if you ever decide to make a physics based game, the code is ok but it keeps crashing for no reason... it could be a small, pesky cube that has a picosecond-long, Everest-high spike in the value of traveling velocity when simply laying on the ground. Put a cap on everything and you are golden

the game developers probably just disabled fall damage because it was impossible with the cap on, and the camera wasn't build with such speeds in mind because of the speed cap as well

the limit timers are definitely in place to just prevent people from getting stuck outside the map, I imagine they weren't all that concerned about the edge cases where people managed to find the few spots on the map where exceeding the limits is even possible the speed cap could also be to prevent glitches from appearing in areas before the game can manage to fully render them, you can see stuff struggling to pop in flying at light speed already

I think the conversion thing was done on purpose, approximating 1 meter as 3 feet so that mission objectives and achievemetns etc still look neat. The game's coding is probably "stay within 100 meters" and then converting to ft "stay within 300ft" looks a whole lot neater than "stay within 328ft".
You can do the cannonball speed glitch even faster depending on if you have collision between you and the board before you hit the ground. I like to think it's because the object in the way increases the distance and speed since it really wants to get back to your skater.. you can do it on some slopes but it's definitely different from flat ground. It also depends which way the board comes back to your skater left or right hand you want the board to be against what ur hitting. Since you can do the cannonball speed glitch on a slope with the right timing you can get some insane speed and air for gaps (i add a dont know emote)
The limits are important to what makes skate different than tony hawk so I'm glad they were there in the first place. Shocked that easy mode doesn't disable these or nobody found dev cheats to term em off Edit: similar annoying ones are 3 fliptricks on any one rail/ledge. And no tattooed on both limbs
except tony hawk doesnt let you go zooming at 100 miles an hour because the game was coded bad Tony Hawk had no need for limitations because the game was pretty solid i can understand realism for falling in skate 3, but tony hawk has realistic speed too, it just feels like the speed cap was a band-aid fix to a broken game at which point, just remove the limits, let people have fun with a game that is functionally destroyed

Also, this is only a theory, so please do not take this as fact. Your playtime equates to 524288 seconds. 524287 is the largest value that can be stored in a 19-bit binary number (1111111111111111111). The binary number increments up by one when a second passes. This is one second off from your actual playtime. The game likely counts all zeros as 1 second of playtime. This means that one second of playtime is equal to 0000000000000000000. Counting past 524287 in binary would cause an overflow. While the game runs on 64-bit systems (Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3), this may be a limitation implemented by the developers. It may also be a limitation of the RenderWare engine. This issue also happens in Burnout Paradise, which uses the same engine as Skate 3. Just thought that was neat!
It’s been years since I played this game on PS3 this brings back a lot of memories doing silly stuff and glitches. This also explains a few of the glitches I never understood how to recreate and some of the stupid resets I got.

It's not a surprise to me that landing on a slight angle relative to your movement angle is easier even if you're moving faster, and that backflips are harder and take longer than front-flips. Just seems realistic :)
