But at least we had 3 TV channels and they shut down at midnight and unless you were well off you didn't have a vcr in the early 80s, certainly didn't have one in my home till around 86
Yes, I was a 20 year old punker and it was 1 of the most exciting times of my life. I was the girlfriend of the lead singer of Minutemen. They hung out with Black Flag. I'm 66 now and I'm going to get a punk rock haircut tomorrow. I still wear a lot of black. Lol. And yes, my make up is still over the top. I wasn't hard core, but neither new wave. Right in the middle. So many great bands then right???
To all the teens of today that some how made it here. Make your own 80's today just by doing this. Be your own creative self and believe in individualism. Don't copy others or worry about impressing them. Don't call, text or email people, go see them. It doesn't matter who they are. Last and most important, find someone to love not "something" and Make sure they know it. Do this and you'll make your own 80's memories!

I was born 1980 and got a childhood ridden with (small, but many) health issues and autism and got constantly bullied in school and at home. And yet, the 80s and early 90s I've had the most fun of my life... ok, maybe into late 90s too because I have had probably the best high school classmates in the world, and those 4 years between 1994 and 1998 have been fun, too. But after that, when I had to go to college and lose one friend after another due to relocations, marriages, etc I've got into a betting addiction combined with a depressive state that have lasted me for 12 years (2002 till 2014). I have even been close to suiciding a few times during those years when my life had been dull and all I had going for me have been video games and porn, all alone in my room for 12 years straight, including on my birthday, on Christmas, New Year and everything between these dates.... Anyway, I digressed a little, but the point is that the 80s have truly been magical, there's absolutely nothing in this world after mid-90s that can match the 80s and early 90s years when it comes to entertainment. Everything in music, movies, cartoons, fashion and people's attitude and carelessness oozed of energy, vitality, optimism and possibilities. EVERYTHING. Those lucky enough to have lived through the 80s and 90s know that that era had been special and would never trade those experiences, no matter how poor, for anything that's come after that. I mean, if I wouldn't trade those years of childhood and teenage with all of the issues I've had I'm pretty sure that others who have had it easier than me wouldn't either :)

The eighties were a really tough time in my life. The creative and innovative music was what got me through it. OMD was one of my favorite bands from that era.

I can't repeat it enough, the 80s was the best era in the entertainment in general, but the music was so amazing. We built memories with each and every great song, and those memories are coming up every time we listen to this amazing music. I also enjoyed seeing that many others feel the same way from the comments and enjoy the stories that are similar to ours or different beautiful 80s memories.

In the early 90’s, my late husband and I would put this CD in and drive around the countryside, just enjoying the moment and talent of OMD. Miss those days.

Everything for the last 15 or so years is death and depressing and down and the music nowadays SUCKS!! I really long for the days when I could put on a radio station and hear great songs by artists of varying genres...M. Jackson, Prince, Bruce, INXS, U2, The Cure, The Cars, OMD, Depeche Mode, The Rolling Stones, B. Joel, Clapton....you name it and every genre had major stars having major hits. Now we have people with no talent who spend their time having hits by sampling works by the giants who came before them. Very sad.

Muy cierto lo que comentas, antes era creatividad y mucho sientimiento, y lo que escuchábamos en esa época pues sentiamos la música realmente, temas como este donde son exquisitos para los oídos y el alma...... vivan los 80´s por siempre!!
Además de ello, los musicos tocaban los instrumentos, los cantantes tenían una excelente calidad vocal y afortunadamente no exiistían tantos softwares daw (Ableton, Logic Pro, Cubase, etc) con los cuales hoy solo basta grabar un chasquido de dedos, se repite en distintas pistas con diversos efectos y crean una canción. Los 80's, para los que nos tocó vivirlos en nuestra niñez y adolescencia, una época maravillosa, donde éramos felices con tan poco (de verdad con tan poco y lleno de simpleza), cuando un simple silbido bastaba para invitar a los amigos a reunirnos y con un simple ahí los vidrios, era la forma de decirnos hasta mañana!!!, donde la música que nos gustaba y escuchábamos en la radio, la voz era más importante que saber quién o como era quien las interpretaba, donde los vídeos apenas y se vislumbraban, cuando con una grabadora de doble deck nos bastaba para amenizar a la pandilla en las banquetas, cuando existía tolerancia para los diferentes gustos musicales, ya que podíamos juntarnos y convivir la gente que gustaba de lo tropical, rock, pop y Disco. Donde la vida era eso...tan solo vida!!! Donde el amor y la amistad eran los valores más importantes, ya que eran tan cotidianos y no nos dimos cuenta, hasta que nos hicimos adultos, cuando el respeto hacia los mayores era de lo mas normal y correcto. (cosa que desgraciadamente no pasa hoy). Cuando las caricaturas empezaban a las 2 de la tarde y terminaban a las 7 y continuaban series divertidas y familiares. Cuando un par de carros de plástico nos bastaban para divertirnos en grande, construíamos carreteras y puentes en la tierra y/o arena. Crecimos viendo los aparatos electrónicos que iban evolucionando cada vez más y tomando desgraciadamente relevancia en el actuar de la niñez (sin saber que esa misma tecnología a los futuros niños los iba a hacer mas fríos y menos sentimentales, a como fuimos nosotros). Quisiera vivir eternamente en esta época tan maravillosa (dentro de mi corazón y mente), tantos amigos, tantos amores platónicos (ahora llamados crush), tantas risas, tantas experiencias, tantas personas, que sobreviven en nuestras memorias y pensamientos, tantos recuerdos, tantas alegrías y por que no también tantos tropiezos que aun en nuestros días, agradezco al creador haberlas vivido, ya que de ellos aprendí lo bueno y malo que hay en esta aventura llamada VIDA. +Reuben Binyamin Agreed. I know I was much younger in the 80's and people usually look back on their younger days as being better and brighter but...its not just me, life WAS better back then. Everything for the last 15 or so years is death and depressing and down and the music nowadays SUCKS!! I really long for the days when I could put on a radio station and hear great songs by artists of varying genres...M. Jackson, Prince, Bruce, INXS, U2, The Cure, The Cars, OMD, Depeche Mode, The Rolling Stones, B. Joel, Clapton....you name it and every genre had major stars having major hits. Now we have people with no talent who spend their time having hits by sampling works by the giants who came before them. Very sad.

Además de ello, los musicos tocaban los instrumentos, los cantantes tenían una excelente calidad vocal y afortunadamente no exiistían tantos softwares daw (Ableton, Logic Pro, Cubase, etc) con los cuales hoy solo basta grabar un chasquido de dedos, se repite en distintas pistas con diversos efectos y crean una canción.

Los 80's, para los que nos tocó vivirlos en nuestra niñez y adolescencia, una época maravillosa, donde éramos felices con tan poco (de verdad con tan poco y lleno de simpleza), cuando un simple silbido bastaba para invitar a los amigos a reunirnos y con un simple ahí los vidrios, era la forma de decirnos hasta mañana!!!, donde la música que nos gustaba y escuchábamos en la radio, la voz era más importante que saber quién o como era quien las interpretaba, donde los vídeos apenas y se vislumbraban, cuando con una grabadora de doble deck nos bastaba para amenizar a la pandilla en las banquetas, cuando existía tolerancia para los diferentes gustos musicales, ya que podíamos juntarnos y convivir la gente que gustaba de lo tropical, rock, pop y Disco. Donde la vida era eso...tan solo vida!!! Donde el amor y la amistad eran los valores más importantes, ya que eran tan cotidianos y no nos dimos cuenta, hasta que nos hicimos adultos, cuando el respeto hacia los mayores era de lo mas normal y correcto. (cosa que desgraciadamente no pasa hoy). Cuando las caricaturas empezaban a las 2 de la tarde y terminaban a las 7 y continuaban series divertidas y familiares. Cuando un par de carros de plástico nos bastaban para divertirnos en grande, construíamos carreteras y puentes en la tierra y/o arena. Crecimos viendo los aparatos electrónicos que iban evolucionando cada vez más y tomando desgraciadamente relevancia en el actuar de la niñez (sin saber que esa misma tecnología a los futuros niños los iba a hacer mas fríos y menos sentimentales, a como fuimos nosotros). Quisiera vivir eternamente en esta época tan maravillosa (dentro de mi corazón y mente), tantos amigos, tantos amores platónicos (ahora llamados crush), tantas risas, tantas experiencias, tantas personas, que sobreviven en nuestras memorias y pensamientos, tantos recuerdos, tantas alegrías y por que no también tantos tropiezos que aun en nuestros días, agradezco al creador haberlas vivido, ya que de ellos aprendí lo bueno y malo que hay en esta aventura llamada VIDA.
