God, ain't that the truth. I walked through all my scholastic years w/ such hearts in my eyes. Usually, (for reasons I still don't understand) it was always for the most unattainable girls in the whole school. But a boy can dream can't he? You know, every now & again, the heavens would shine down from above....and you WOULD get the girl of your dreams. Those were always short lived, a few months, a semester....OR if you were REALLY Lucky.....A WHOLE SUMMER. (LISTEN to OMD/ So in love w/you. Now THAT song really does it for me)
Picture what it was like being in your 20's in the 80's and hearing this music in clubs...those memories are about the only thing that keep me going now...
Just saw them at The Greek in L.A. 2 nights ago and they still sound awesome! This was one of their encore songs along with “Electricity”. Everyone at the concert was up on their feet having the best time. Nothing like great music to take you back to a place and time of fond memories. We sure had the best music in the 80’s.
When I first listened to this beautiful electronic pop masterpiece, I got goosebumps all over me. The synths are so concise, intricate, rhythmic and mellifluous, and the layers are immensely cohesive. Every layer, timed and cued to enter at the right time, is given space to express itself. When the spoken 'secret' vocal comes in, you feel like the song is a living and breathing thing itself. I listen to quite a bit of modern electronic pop, and none can best this level of sophistication, thought and creativity.

I am so grateful to have grown up in the '80s. An amazing time to be a kid. Rollerskating at Skateway in Orange County, CA. Holding hands with girls. I feel so sorry for kids today. This tune brings it all back - being 11 in 1986. Would not change it for anything.
I've got a secret I can't explain, but this song brings so much love from the 80s which I fondly remember so well. The joy of my youth back then, and was such a wonderful decade full of great music from various amazing pop/rock bands, especially OMD. I sadly didn't have many friends but just enough, and also enjoyed video games, and TV shows. I liked the 90s as well, but preferred the 80s better. Other bands I liked are Yazoo, Depeche Mode, Aha, Fiction Factory, Howard Jones, New Order, Mike and the Mechanics, Simple Minds, and many more....great music of the past! 😊

I love OMD. This song and others by them should always be included in any 80's music compilation. I had some OMD on cassette back in the 80's. This is so very timeless. Thanks.
I've always loved this song for the way it sounds, the melody, the singing, the music .... but I I've never tried to focus on the lyrics as I am afraid the lyrics might be contradictory to the tone of the song like many other 80s songs with contradictory tune vs meaning (happy tune but serious sad meaning) ... Finally read the lyrics whole way through today and its beautiful .... now understanding the lyrics made this song even more beautiful than before ...

On this day in 1985 {December 14th} OMD (a.k.a. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) performed "Secret"* on the ABC-TV Saturday afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "Secret" was in it's first week on Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #91, seven weeks later it would peak at #63 {for 2 weeks} and it spent 13 weeks on the Top 100.. And on the same 'Bandstand' show OMD also performed "So In Love", one month earlier in 1985 on November 3rd it peaked at #26 {for 2 weeks}... * The week OMD's "Secret" peaked at #63, it wasn't the only 'Secret' record on the Top 100 at the time, Atlantic Starr's "Secret Lovers" was at #31...

Oh, the 80s. The music stays in our head after decades. That era before the digital music era was amazing. We bought a cassette or CD and because we can carry so many physical media on the go, we listen to the same music non-stop. Maybe that's the reason those music stays in our head forever and musical artist made more effort to put more quality tracks in 1 album?

Yo, todos los días antes de dormir 22:00
One of my brother's musical influence, their music was great, time passes by, but their music never fades.
OMD was very underrated. The music had a positive meaning. Warms up the heart.
80's my favorite song new wave.

OMD's music always makes me happy. Such beautifully crafted, well written pop songs that reach into my soul.
You always get happy when you hear them
this brings back such memories of high school crushes....loved being a teenager in the 80's....
love your handle, joydivisiongirl. JD just happened to be my favorite band.
We were probably 100's if not 1000's of miles apart and still the same. :) I miss the 80s too. :(
I feel you
Just saw them at The Greek in L.A.
I SERIOUSLY CANT GET ENOUGH OF THIS BAND, Especially this song!!! 😅❤❤️🥰🥰😍 And I'm 52. Lol
This and So in love are without doubt there best songs, but so many others are great also. 80's music is all good though ❤
@@grahamcheesman2252 Sorry, Graham! NOTHING beats Maid Of Orleans
@@debra1232 love maid of orleans and enola gay and forever live and die, but so in love and Secret the best. I'm not going to argue though lol, but I am definitely right hahaha 😂😂😂
@@grahamcheesman2252 We can agree to disagree :)
@@debra1232 I will take that as it's the closest iv ever been to winning an argument lol. One thing we can agree on is how good OMD are. 80's forever ❤
Another awesome song from the 80's decade. 80's music FOREVER!!!
Genio.
I am so grateful to have grown up in the '80s. An amazing time to be a kid. Rollerskating at Skateway in Orange County, CA. Holding hands with girls. I feel so sorry for kids today. This tune brings it all back - being 11 in 1986. Would not change it for anything.
You're so damn right! I was born in '69 and would change for nothing with today's kids, never ever!
i'm glad you feel for me. Im 16 but damn, the 80's were so damn great. im definitely and old soul. i love everything about back then
Same. I was 10 in 86.

The music of my generation. The X generation
We don't search for old songs...
we search for old memories.❤❤❤
Totalmente de acuerdo contigo.
Exactly .. what a feeling
Theyre only painful, so why? I know why....Secret. LOL
We are so blessed to have our memories attached to such beautiful music?
I love this song❤ Brings back so many memories for me. Young Love song !!
Loved this track....unusual to have Paul on lead vocals....such a talented and creative band - 18 top 40 singles, 7 top 10s....
Uwielbiam OMD.Bardzo melodyjne i rytmiczne wykonanie.Szybko wpadają w ucho i można. sobie nucić.

The song captures my youth, in all its synth music glory.
This is my favorite OMD song. Sounds as fresh today as it did back in the 80's.
My favourite is probably "Electricity" just because it's a total classic.
Yep!, still one amazing track!
Electricity,Enola Gay & Maid of Orleans are amazing too

OMD was one of those great 80s band that was underrated. I love all their songs.
For me you are spot on Michael, they were so damn good!
People nowadays complaint, but have really no idea the amount of sacrifice and how much people did work. No comfort, no nothing. Our grandparents have gone through world wars, lost their families, belongings, their youth and had to start al over and yet kept their faith and joy.
White privilege
Sooooo schön, O. M. D ist einfach großartig und secret und if you leave liebe ich am meisten ♥️♥️♥️
It's now 2019, and I'm still turning back the pages from the book that is life by watching/listening to stuff like this.

One of the best bands in the 80's. Great Music

I got a secret and I cant explain
All the time, Ive waited for this day
All along I was never in doubt
I always knew it would never get out
There are things that I cannot tell
And there are things that you know damn well
This is getting very hard for me
I guess you'd better just wait and see
(Instrumental)
This is all, this is all
You heard a message and the message was clear
All the time you wipe away that tear
And all I want is to hold your hand
To see the sun and walk the sand
You make me sad and you make me glad
My secret is this love
Is love, Is love
All my secret is this love
Everyday you're always there
You comfort me
And make me feel its worth my while
And then I look around and you're not there
And everyday you say you care and I'll beware
(Instrumental)
This is all, this is all
I've got a secret and I cant explain
All I want is to hold your hand
All along I was never in doubt

Watching "There's Someone Inside Your House" on Netflix and so happy to hear this song again! 80s was the best decade
Just watched netflix film ' There's someone inside your house' this was playing in background in party scene and i was immediately whisked back to being a kid. Just shows how powerful music is, great tune, great band.

They played in May here in Canada and was so bummed thru my seizure stuff that has happened was unhappy I couldn’t see them on their 40th anniversary. But that will change and watching that I laughed and the next day I got my dad and was like just wait and lets see which song plays and he said wow. Loved it ❤❤

This channel really should have millions of subscribers. OMD are legends.

How could I have forgotten this song? It was one of my favorites as a kid. Just heard it on the movie ‘There’s Someone Inside Your House’, and I was like, “HEY, I remember that song!!!!!” ❤️❤️❤️
Tú me pones triste y me alegras
Entonces miro a mi alrededor y no estás allí
