Dont press up whatsoever while spikes are above you. They cant kill you aslong as you arent swinming up. Just swim sideways and down for the most part.
@@xlostgamer7166 yeah, the more I play it the further I can get. I get stuck towards the end of the castle at the moment, in the room where you used the rice bowl. How did you 'teleport' back to the room when you ducked under that gap?
That was a freak accident glitch that isn't meant to happen. You are meant to drop down and go through the underwater part again after getting the rice.
Yeah as I said in another comment the acid part IMO is the worst part as I cannot do it consistently. Just make sure not to pre empt the jump and do the jump as late as possible so you dont hit the acid. Also make sure your only slightly tapping jump so you dont get too much height
3:35 it is at this point I said "this is just a bad game". Sadly, I am not exaggerating. I wanted to like this game, but the number of inconsistencies and lack of balance really threw me off.
Honestly the spikes really arent bad. The ones above you cant hurt you aslong as you only swim down or sideways. You can even touch them just as long as you dont move upwards yourself.
@@xlostgamer7166 Oh, it is pretty easy to go through, indeed. What is not easy is figuring out spikes can't hurt you if you swim in a specific way, especially when we learned through every other stage that spikes kill you. Nowhere in the game is it explained that there are exceptions to that rule. I had to look it up online how to pass that part, and it is not even some kind of an optional room, it is mandatory to go through it to get to the final boss. It is just bizzare.
Yeah it sucks I agree. It was just one of things of how the game was made years back using the lives system to extend playtime. Also the room can be technically skipped. If you have the wand powerup in the room at 3:16 you can fly to the ladder which bypasses the spike maze.

Still, putting a bypass that requires a specific item seems like putting a band-aid on a bullet wound xD Even back then, 30+ years ago, it baffles me this kind of game was made... I dunno, the whole experience didn't sit well with me, and I haven't played it back then so I have no nostalgic value for it :S

That acid coming down is way faster than the original.
Yeah the acid part absolutely sucks and its the only part i cant consistently do correct in the level.

make sure to do the jump for the middle block extremely late or you will hit the acid before you even get close to the block.
I've managed to get through the whole game without infinite lives, now I've got to this part I'm really concidering turning it on! Hahaha
What part in particular are you struggling with? This level is all about trial and error in my opinion for the most part and eventually it will click.

In my opinion getting the rice and taking the time to go all the way back is much easier then the part I used the rice for.
