This is our second season with our pool. I was looking for away to keep the inlet and outlet from leaking. Last year I used caulk which leaked and rusted the pool. Your use of plumbers putty is brilliant. Thank you for that.
When you drill through galvanized you will expose the steel underneath and that is where your rust will form and spread. I would mask off the hole area and spray it with some sort of rust preventative finish. Cold galvanizing spray (just like spray paint) is ideal for this. If you get any scratches that expose the steel it is a pretty close match to hot galvanizing dip so buying a can just to spray the holes you cut out isn’t a waste of money, you will have a can of touch up on hand ready to go.

Update your filter to a sand filter with the salt chlorinator…you’ll LOVE how much cleaner your water is and you won’t have to clean and replace a garbage filter cartridge 3xs a week anymore. 👍
Thanks so much for this video. My husband and I are thinking of making our own cowboy pool for next spring because we are in Delaware and weather will be getting cool here for the fall in another month but do appreciate the video. Helps out alot😊
Where did you get the grey steps from? Am looking to do this and a dog would need access in and out - until he gets big enough to jump by himself. Love your work!!
Would you consider using a pool liner? They could be replaced annually, if necessary to avoid slime, but you're probably using Chlorine anyway. Great idea about the sand filter. I heard they can also be insulated.
You could have flattened the scenes with a round 1/4 inch plate of steel and a flathead hammer I believe the seal would have worked better the first time around
@@macailea thats why you have rust problems. The salt water will rust the steel. If you're doing salt water, you may want to look into a different material for your pool otherwise, I'd just switch over to the chlorinated methods.
It's holding up great. I think the only thing I am going to differently on my next one is paint the inside with a sealant that was recommended by a few people. I had some small spot it started leaking I fixed but I think for longevity I'm going to take care of it with sealing the whole inside soon.
@@GarrettbrownRE we had this problem too. We're ending up sealing every thing to avoid leaking and rusting. We will be painting the inside as well to keep it for longer.
@@GarrettbrownRE May I ask what you used as a sealant to coat the inside and what brand of sealant? I live in a cold weather climate (snowy winters). Do you think it needs to be stored so it's out of the elements?
What's the upkeep process on this?
Not much, similar to any above ground pool and even easier since it’s smaller.

@@CameronTucker06 yep, it comes in an aerosol can and you apply it like spray paint, cold gal spray is the construction slang term for it

Also add some cheap LED color changing outdoor lights to put underneath that platform.
Can you post a picture?
i believe conaire makes portable jets for like bathtubs this way you don't have to install holes into your pool, just an idea, but great video!!!
The jets just move water. They’re not a filtering system.
Awesome. I appreciated you showing how much it cost first thing. My husband can definitely do this. ❤❤❤❤ thanks for video

Good tip!!
Do you have a link for which pump you used?
I was thinking can you use salt in these metal pools?
In any case keep your salt generator cell cleaned, will last much longer.

So pretty great information.
I don’t know how to find your links items. But we need the strainer piece that didn’t come with the pump.
I just bought a house, it has a built-in deck around a 300gl trought tank. Looking for the best solution, thanks.

How do you keep it from rusting on the bottom? We have had ours less than a yr and its rusted and ruined our patio
I don’t use too much chlorine in it. I haven’t had a rust issue though. Do you use a lot of chemicals?

Hey man, I have a leak and I'm not sure why? Is there a way to share a cilp with you?
What size U-Haul did you use to bring it home?
We have been wanting one and haven’t done it bc we don’t know how to get it home.
I can't remember but it was like a mid size one that was local.

whats the height of the stock tank please?
I think 3 ft

how did you ground it ?
The motor is on GFCI circuit
You spent $600?? I just bought mine for $205 exactly with free shipping from county line

Is it possible yo share the exact plans on bench. I will be building this by myself
