The 690 SMC is my everyday bike. Bought it new in 2011, now 92.000 km on the clock and still going.

Gibernau's casual knee down, one handed advice whilst looking over his shoulder. I feel guilty for all those years of cheering as Rossi played dirty with him.

Man Chris from Bike World looks pro on every 2 wheel discipline...what a beast. Al demonstrating how different sumo is from sport biking lol. Can't wait to see some offroad Al magic next episode
Pre talk test ride, no wheelies... yeah right like a phallic fender of a middle finger rising to the occasion. love these SM no matter what color the plastic. Good job give the man a thumbs up!
After much pondering I pulled the trigger on the 701 SM as a daily rider and a track weapon... aaand I have no regrets yet! Just in case I bought +2 year warranty. :D

10:44 this is how I dropped my bike first time on the road after 6 years of riding. got myself a supermoto, I was just riding in Lake District and suddenly my front just let go and there I was sliding on the tarmac. I'm not sure what I did wrong, I walked back to where I dropped it and skid marks started right after a slight dimple in the road so I'm guessing that plus a bit worn front tyre and me being a t*at caused the crash. luckily no harm. [update] a month after I wrote the above, I took my SM to the Alps. first ride after arrival I headed straight to Stelvio Pass (I stopped in Livigno so it was a 60km ride). started climbing the pass from the Bormio side. got to the hairpin section and after a few hairpins I was taking a left turn going a little wider for the cars coming down and again, no clue what happened there, my front just tucked I was on the ground bike skidding on the tarmac. I really enjoy riding them supermotos but I think they're much more demanding than your normal road bikes. I used to rip through those hairpins on Stelvio on my Tracer 900 doing them much faster and never ever had I dropped the bike. weird, very weird.

Also nice to see manufacturer like Gasgas getting back on road bikes.
But as i said before, I really miss those 'Two guys on the couch' reviews Al did with Chris in the past.
Review like this is great watch, dont get me wrong, but it is in a vacuum.
Then there was dialog, asking and answering question, it gives some substance to a bike then there is some actual comparison.
Nice spanish views, tasty food and awesome time on track is for reviewers. Its nice to watch but it does not say anything. As Al was saying : - "nobody makes sh!t bikes anymore". So I would like to see some comparisons why this is better or worse? What are the numbers? Is it only red?
I understand that SM700 is just another ktm in different color, and maybe there is nothing to have conversation about.
I still comming back to videos like :
2021 GSX-S1000, 2021 Kawasaki zx-10r+rr, M 1000RR, KTM 790 Duke, 2017 R6 reviews, Ducati scrambler Sixty2 etc.
I think that these are second best content after all the BBBs content.

From what I understand, the husky 701 and KTM 690 enduros are discontinued in the USA. GasGas said in an article that they aren’t bringing either bike to the USA.

They'll sell well in Spain and other euro countries, make the brand some cash, give them a presence in the market and maybe in a couple of years they'll bring out another model that owners can step up to. Probably an adventure dually like a Tenere style would be on brand.

@@pistonburner6448 I've ridden KTM's for many years, but I don't recognise the brand any more. I'm not so sure I'm getting a KTM ever again.. I'm just annoyed they bought out all the coolest brands and ruined and neutered them.
@@aukanmeister To me KTM seems to operate like Volkswagen Group. Not good. Based on corporate finance operations and marketing, with the product last...and no respect for brand authenticity. Well, KTM is nearly as bad as Volkswagen Group with their products, as with motorcycles no-one can fill the world with front wheel drive crap. But they are pretty much as bad with their cynical m0le5tati0n of brands.

I feel that they've refined the 701/690/700 to such a degree that they're very boring to ride for a supermoto, the engine lacks character in stock tune and the motor doesn't have that punchy feeling a single cylinder should give you yes they're very fast and handle amazing but riding my dad's 701 back to back with my old school 660 SMC I don't feel any urge to change
They're built to a compromise, for sure. They're built to be used daily with realistic servicing intervals. You can still build a 500 EXC-F into an SM. It's a similar affair with the Enduro. No one will be able to ride at 690/701 Enduro at an Enduro. I'd be surprised if they're even that great greenlaning.
@@veedubgeezer - I have the 2019 690 here in the USA and it has been a fabulous lightweight adventure bike. I have tackled some fairly challenging terrain and the 690 handles it with no issue. Yes, an EXC would be more competent off-road but the 690 much more tolerable on the pavement and a reasonable compromise.
Bought a brand new ktm smc r 690 in March 1100 miles later I love it but the head gasket has just gone so 💁♂️

@@GL0BETREKKER yes but front and back speed doesn't match anymore. You get the same error as you get when lubing your chain on paddock stand, engine on and in gear.

I did think the same as you regarding the Enduro range initially but I’d say there are at least as many GasGases (correct terminology for multiple GasGas machines?!) as Husqvarnas at all the Enduro races I do.

I waz just down Fowlers in Bristol waz looking at this bike side by side to the Husqvarna 701 and its the same bike I even asked the sales man and he even said yeah same bike different Color
