I was stuck between 701 and tenere 700. However I decided to give up the awesome exhaust sound and rally fairing in favor of 100lbs less weight. It was a no brainer after I had to pick up my KTM 1190 by myself for the first time. Fully modded and bagged for a long trip and the 701 still weighs less than a stock tenere 700
Great video! I have a 2023 701 Husky. I tired a CRT fuel dongle which didn’t help really. After 1,000 miles I’m used to the throttle. It’s a great bike up to around 100 kph but after that the lack of wind protection, vibration and seat get to be annoying. All, however, can be fixed and the light weight is fantastic even after an 890 Adventure with its low centre of gravity. I like the T7 but it’s too top heavy and falls flat unlike the 890 or my earlier GSA. I love the rally style riding position of the T7 especially standing. I lowered the foot pegs and use bar risers which has helped, especially downhill. I’m only 1.73m and taller would be an issue. Ideally: T7 riding position, 701 weight and GSA comfort and wind protection. Not much to ask?! Oh, and I love Slovenia.
I love the 890 ADV as well and completely agree regarding the handling and top weight of the T7, but the 890 Adv was just too expensive for me and I like the peace of mind the japanese reliability gives me. Greetings, Gregor
Interesting comparison. Why in the world are you sitting so far back on the Gas Gas around 46:55. It's much more comfortable and rides better in a "supermoto position"(I think).
At highway speeds you can lean on the wind like on a supersport bike, but for that you have to make some space towards the front by sitting in the back of the seat. Works like a charm! Apart from the highway ride the seating position was more front oriented, supermoto-style as you call it. 👍
An Euro 5 fuel dongle (Coober LM ECU or Kevxtx) will make the GasGas handle even better... And anyone else would like to see a Supermoto version of the Tenere 700 or MT-07? :D
I paid the fine in Slovenia for off roading and get letter: Article 28.b of the ZON stipulates - In Slovenia, it is forbidden to drive, stop, park or organize rides with motorized or other self-propelled vehicles in the natural environment. However, it is permitted to stop or park motorized vehicles in a zone of five meters outside the carriageway, if stopping or parking is in accordance with the regulations governing road traffic, and if the owner of the land does not oppose it, and in the area intended for temporary parking for purposes of public gatherings and public events organized in accordance with the law governing public gatherings. An individual who violates the aforementioned provisions is liable to a fine of 40 to 100 euros.
The toughest part would be enduring the hard seat. Apart from that, it works surpisingly well. The GasGas doesnt use a lot of fuel and you can lean on the wind to save energy. Greetings!
It's foolish/naive for the average rider to think they can to perform the same marketing stunts. Despite that, the Tenere 700 is still the favorite dirt-capable touring motorcycle. After you adjust the bars and controls you can ride it comfortably at 70 mph all day where the bikes defeat you after 1 to 1.5 hours.
Yeah he got me! I’m a longtime capable enduro and mx rider but only 175cm. Bought a t7 thinking I could do tough stuff on it. Turns out it was too heavy and intimidating, also too fragile when crashed. Bought a KTM 690. Wow, what a difference! It’s basically a dirt bike with big fuel range that can go on the highway. The abs and other electronics actually work too. The t7 abs is dangerous off road.
The T7 is absolutely lacking in suspension, though it is quite capable with what it has. As it is It can absolutely be pushed into the role of 'big dirt bike' - but it definitely has a higher rider skill and rider experience requirement to do so. It's not as forgiving and it isn't a bike the inexperienced can muscle around to prevent falls. The 690, 701, gasgas, whatever brand it becomes next - is more dirt oriented from factory and more forgiving off-road. I went with a t7 because I have a DRZ for a true dual sporting, it sounds f*cking awesome and all the 690 variants sound like a plastic bucket of bolts being shook.
DRZ is a dream! I am jealous. I completely agree with you, that is why I fitted Öhlins suspension on the T7 in the video, makes it a lot easier to handle in intermediate terrain. But as soon as it gets steep, it cant hide that it is a VERY big dirt bike :) And I cant hide that I am no Pol Tarres
The windprotection is ok with the modded windshield, the seat a bit hard but bearable and the lack of cruise control gets annoying on long highway rides, but all in all it handles high speeds and long hours in the saddle without a problem. Just dont expect the comfort other, more expensive adventure bikes provide. Cheers, McGregor
gasgas has 300mm travel and not 250 as said in video, or has yours been lowered? great video by the way, i loved how the same person had different English voices at at times hahahaaa, intentional or not this was funny
To me, Tuareg is twice the bike offroad compared to T7. Its weight distribution is way, way better, gives you tons of confidence. KYB stock suspension is very good, and the low seat gives more confidence as well. However, the gap to the 690/700/701 is significant. That said, those are top3 unicorns, plus the 890 Adv R. I rate the T7 as the weakest from this lot, though.
@@Roberta_Espositodepends where you are. In Australia the 690 bikes and the T7 are the same price. The Tuareg costs about $3.5K more, and the 890ADV R is about $7.25K more then the 690’s
It was nothing too spectacular, but on camera it always looks more or less like a straight road. For us intermediate enduro riders it was steep and spicy enough.
That one got lost in translation: In Austria some people say, that you do not toast with non-alcoholic beverages. That was referred to in the video. Greetings
belive it or not i just sold my gasgas700 for a tenere extreme. All i have to say is GET RID OF GASGAS they are all fucked up in the cpus also i had 5.000km and burned 600g worth of oil during
Can take a sport bike on that “offroad” lol. That’s easy easy stuff……. The Tenere700 sucks offroad, but is a bit better on road. the gasgas700 is way better offroad but can still do on road stuff pretty good and it’s a lot more fun on road. Tenere700 makes no sense… if ur gonna get a adventure bike remember, they suck offroad, you’ll only be able to do very very easy dirt road stuff like in this video. so get a adventure bike that is powerful and fun on road, that’s also comfy and big windscreen, big gas tank…. Not a little Tenere700.
I came from an FE501 to my T7 and I love it. I need to ride at least an hour on the highway to reach any trails from where I am and I wouldn't hesitate taking it anywhere I would take the husky. It's harder work obviously but a very capable bike.
21:40 Yes, cycle the ignition to reset the tip over safety switch!
Yes, thanks, I should know that, but full of adrenalin my thinking capabilities were somewhat non existent xD Cheers, McGregor

Thank you A LOT for the translation in english !!! Very good video thank you !!
I get the feeling you guys would be a blast to ride with. Great video!

@@pauldavies5541 ya, the 690 is more of dirt bike with single cyl. 2 cyl T7 is smooth tall adv touring bike. T7 abs has switch btw.
