3:15:03 To anyone reading this, please check out the Tongari Boushi series (known in the US as Magician's Quest and in Europe as Enchanted Folk thanks to its singular localized title). Despite its reputation as an "Animal Crossing ripoff", it is so much more than that, especially with the later games as they include more features. In general, aside from the more Animal Crossing-esque mechanics, there is a spellcasting system that relies on magic linguistics (like runes of sorts) and many mysteries with differing plotlines to solve. Also, in every game past the first entry, you can set up your own shop and play some minigames to create products to sell (provided you have the materials you'd like to use and the appropriate blueprints). One of my favorite features, though seemingly small, is how music CDs can be obtained. You see, there is a bar you can go to (where you buy juice, as your character is a minor attending a magic school) which plays a select track from a list of available music CDs in the game, which your player character can then listen to and memorize by staying in the room until the CD finishes a loop. What this then allows you to do is to go to the furniture store and place an order on that very same CD by just whistling the track to the shopkeeper. This is also how you learn the track titles. (Side note, most of the soundtrack outside of the main theme, CDs and shop themes consists of arranged classical music, which sounds BEAUTIFUL in this game, let me tell you.) ...Did I mention the romance system? No? Yeah, so you can actually date the other students. There's a location called Lover's Point where you may use an incantation (or a spell? I forget the specifics) to confess your love to someone, or a student could take you there themselves. Now, depending on the gender of the player and student, the game will either refer to the both of you as romantic partners or best friends (take a guess as to which circumstances yield what). However, these are functionally the same. Cue the "historians say they were best friends" joke. Funnily enough, there's actually a gay character in this game (you may encounter the hairdresser at the bar talking about his ideal partner), which makes the distinction pretty pointless. Have I sold you on this yet? I'd hope so. Don't let what I just typed be in vain. Go play Tongari Boushi. It's an amazing series.
