Just came back home from a long walk after work, finally took my camera with me only to take pictures for fun (and for my Mum because she cannot visit me atm) and this video not only gave me the motivation to shoot more but I realized how bad I am with my battery/memory card/harddrive situation... Practice, practice, practice

Another way I learned how to shoot in manual was to shoot in AV mode, where you only change the F stop, I would see what the camera would set the other settings at, and then I would change to manual and apply those settings and change them as I thought I needed them. AV really helped me. (It’s AV for canon, not sure for Nikon or Sony).

I got a new camera recently. Took a few shots with it, thought I turned it off, nope. I went to use it yesterday and it was on! Thankfully the battery still had some life in it. Not a huge deal as I'm still learning to use it so I was just taking a few pictures around the yard.
I actually thought about this laptop 👌🏿 but hey love these cause sometimes we all need refreshers lol

I don't know if you're looking for video ideas or anything, but I think it might be cool to maybe swap different styles of photography with a different photographer. Like getting a landscape or architectural photographer and having them try shooting portraits and you try shooting landscape or architectural. You don't have to but I just thought it was a fun idea lol.

This video helped so much I didn’t realize for 3 months I had my canon set up where every time I take a picture it gives me a raw image and a jpeg image so I had double the photos like if I took 50 photos that day then there’s 100 on my computer

Not gonna lie yesterday I wanted to import a total of 20GB files and it took me 2.5 hours🙄
Hi, computer nerd here. That's a limitation of your Hard Drive's (HDD) write speed most likely. Upgrading to an SSD (Solid State Drive) will improve your import time immensely.
Also check what port you're using. Are you plugging in your SD card into your computer (fastest)? Are you using USB-C port (also very fast)? USB3.0 (blue = fast) or USB2.0 (slow)? Some computers have a mix of these and using the wrong one can slow your import down a lot.

I know you need to pay the bills hence the sponsorship but that's just flatout not true about needing a fast GPU to just edit photo's. I've edited 37MP RAW files on a i5 7300 surface book (the entry level one without the nvidia GPU) with 0 issues. Or a latitude with a u8600 I7, again no 3D card. No issues. I have a powerful desktop (10700K/3080) but for laptops I buy thin & light ultrabooks (i.e they don't have dedicated 3Dcards) - and for just photo-editing. YOur dodging and burning and all that jazz ? Literally doesn't matter. And even Photoshop only uses the GPU for a few operations. Not everything. You can see what is accelerated and what's not on their FAQ page. You just need a good CPU, and make sure you got at least an SSD and your`re golden .
I have to agree, for photo editing I use an i5 1035G4 with Integrated graphics (Intel Iris Plus G4), 16GB of RAM and 512GB of NVME SSD and it flies and does anything I throw at it. If she said video rendering then sure a dedicated GPU makes a huge difference in rendering times but for photo editing You really do not need a dedicated GPU (as long as Your PC/laptop is not a fossil) :)
not to mention that the RTX 2000 series is something of a joke in general.
Yep. As far as I'm aware, LR doesn't take advantage of fast GPUs.

Hey, can you do an updated video about direct flash? It's super in right now, but it's tough to find information on it.
For editing Photo in Lightroom you just need a Powerful CPU and integrated GPU will work fine.
You may utilized GPU if you are doing some 3D rendering on Photoshop or if you are editing videos.
Having a better specs laptop/desktop will help you on your post process.

The series was on apple tv...I paid for it lifetime but it left icloud! It was good, but we are far better photographers!!! Awesome work...keep it up!

shooting in JPEG with a fujifilm digital camera is actually pretty dope when using recipes. you can also shoot using both jpeg + raw so the only shoot in raw tip is really situation dependent. love your videos nonetheless
Photo editing is more CPU-bound? GPU isn't that important except for videos.
My first time getting CC I took a picture of drink while at the bar and the background contained of the bar itself with LED lights and TV's and this person told me that the ceiling tiles need to be lined up to the camera's gridlines because they were angled diagonally and that the tv's were too distracting
Hi Jessica ! I shoot in manual mode , but just wondering if you use auto white balance or do you create you own custom white balance ?
Maybe A week ago I started to shoot in RAW and My pictures have never been better! Only if I knew because I never heard anyone talkin About it And my pictures sometimes came out so weird so Hahah it is really good advice!
I always feel so confident when my camera is on auto, as soon as I try doing anything on manual I'm like hold on this is hard lool
I wish you fact checked the ad read. You DO NOT need a fast GPU for editing photos, that's straight up misinformation. Check what your editing program says are the required specs to install - that gives you a minimum baseline. I'm sure that laptop is fine for photo editing, but not for the reasons stated.
If im correct, higher gpu is mainly for film and video rendering. Not rly for photography. Would u say so?
@@willow9719 yep, that's right. Unless you're editing video (particularly high resolution, raw format video), you don't need a great GPU. Oh, and animation software also does intensive rendering.

What if you want to book newborn, family, and fashion photos? Would a separate tab on your website for each style work?
Newborn and Family go well together, Fashion ist kind of a different thing but the tab idea might still work for you?
I‘ve heard that the best thing to do is to really focus on one thing though. If you are getting married who would you book: a photographer who only does weddings fulltime and has a website showing only that or a photographer who does many different things? I would go for the wedding expert.
Also: search engine marketing is a thing, so when you put „wedding photography“ in your site name, you get ranked higher by google when someone types in „wedding photography“.
But I know the struggle, I‘m currently employed in a photo studio. I plan to be self-employed one day and I still don‘t know exactly what niche of portrait photography I want to focus on.

Do you find this HP laptop model in the video on par with Mac ‘s image quality and correctness/accuracy?
I always found colors to look drastically different between windows and mac.
For graphic design, i was told Mac is the best. But if I can find a more affordable one that is same screen/img/gpu quality, I will pick it up in a breeze..!!!!

I have been shooting in raw + L and I have some concerns for my photos. On google it says raw + L has a raw image and a jpeg image. How can I see what the image looks like raw.

You will get both jpeg and raw, the files in pc will have different ends and raw will look flatter. Jpegs are good for immediate use without editing or as a reference photos, because they might show you more accurate colors without editing.
Hey Jessica, about the shooting in RAW part...what if you don't have a subscription for software that can edit the RAW images? What do you do then?

As far as computers go, gaming laptops work amazing for photo editing. Video games use the same processing units as photos. I have an HP Omen with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX and it works wonders.
Agreed. It serves dual purpose too.
