I have a 1973 Beetle and I will be towing it from Wyoming to South Carolina using my Honda Pilot. But I have a few questions have I hope you can answer.
1 - Does your tow bar have a offset?
2 - Where did you get your tow bar?
3 - Do you know if that tow bar will fit on a 1973 Beetle?

The toe bar does not have an offset but I am sure the Supply dealer can advise if it will fit a 73 Beetle. I think it will but not postive.
i have a 77 classic, finally got the frozen hubs(4) off so the Bug can be rolled/towed rather than "dragged". i have the same tow bar. I am doing most of this work myself. Why can't you back up the beetle? I would like to back it up into my garage for the "additional" work. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. tim,.,
I have always been told that it not safe, so I don't do it Unless there is no other way.
+Malcolm Beasley if I'm towing the Beetle cross country, do I have to remove the axles?
I am sure you Could, but everyone I have ever talked to advises not to back up.

Do you think it would be ok to tow my bug with one of these tow bars across country, or would it be better to rent one of the Uhaul front tire dollys?
I would feel safe if the bug has good tires and bearings and use a safety chain and taillights. But remember it is recommended not to back up with it.

Greetings. May I ask where one gets this tow bar? I have a '74 Super Beetle that I gave to my dad to use in his last days and has been parked for almost 5 years now. :( I need to tow it somewhere to get started on its second restoration (The first time was when I first got it 24 years ago) - I just can't seem to want to let it go. Thank you.

how do you hook up the tow chains?
I use a toe bar and chains from the toe bar to the trailer hitch.

Well it certainly didn’t take me two hours to put the tow bar on and some cable! Maybe he injured his back...
