I just keep waiting for those 700 mile-range battery packs that are lighter and smaller, will last half a million miles, recharge in 15 minutes, and cost half as much as they do today. I can hardly wait! BTW, you're talking about a part of the 'saffron' flower. In India it's very popular to use it as a spice and for coloration in foods.
Im with you though in a smaller battery 500 plus miles would be great but id reduce the charging time goal to 5 mins as many wont be satisfied until it takes the same time as it does to fill up an ICE vehicle. Also not noticeably affected by extreme external temperatures.

@@ZeusBullyMax Super fast 5 min charging may not become possible and its true homeowners with drives and chargers will if they can always charge at home. but if the technology does become available then why not use it, there's even less reason then to hang on to an ice car especially for those who cannot have home charging facilities and those who like or need to take regular long road trips.

To be honest Zeekr are a pretty ordinary brand , no way I would by one ! You have to admire both the design and technology this car contains. Legacy automakers have nothing that comes close to this car. No wonder Biden put tariffs on Chinese cars, there is nothing in America that can compete in price, style and technology. So while China markets advanced and attractive EVs throughout the world, in the US we are stuck with hybrids and old ICE vehicles that continue to pollute our cities.
It's better to disregard those and just look at the capacity and likely consumption. 149kWh, heavy car, big wind resistance, consumes probably 30ish kWh per 100km so that would give 500km.
Why keep making cars so wide ? There are so many disadvantages from parking difficulties to worse drag coefficients & less range. There are no advantages to wider cars in the real world, designers need to update their thinking.
Absurd...As long as the majority of our electrical grid energy is energy converted from thermal-to-mechanical-to-electrical (fossil fuel burning and nuclear), the EV is effectively a misnomer...it's still a heat-engine-powered vehicle, and when you count all of the conversion efficiencies, it's not even much, if any, more energy efficient/less carbon-emissive (if you worry about the CO2 climate change BS). The only EVs that make sense today, with current battery tech, are those with low power and short range (about 1-2 kW per 100 kg and range of up to 200 km or so). Further note: EVs like this one, and the whole Tesla class (overpowered and long range) of EVs, are actually total resource wasters because they have higher lifetime costs/seat mile.
