Kayla Fox I’m 29 and still watch Phil. I feel like I grew up with him and Dan. I miss their gaming channel, they made fun, humorous content and weren’t involved in any scandals. It would be nice to see them both come back with content aimed at an older audience but I understand why they might not be interested in doing that, especially as Dan doesn’t upload anymore and that is completely his choice.
phils videos are so nice now, it feels like after him coming out he started to bond more with fans.

For me I like watching unrelatable rich people bc it’s inspiring to me but in her case it’s not really inspiring lmao. I know what u mean but just mentioning how she lives in a rich neighbourhood shouldn’t make u feel some type of way...in that sense good for her . She made it ..most people want to end up as wealthy as her . Nothing wrong with being rich but she’s not a likeable person

Rebecca Weir it’s not about what she has it’s about how she behaves. TH-camrs can have loads of stuff and still stay down to earth. But too many times now her or Alfie have displayed an ignorance towards knowing what the average persons life is like. They have enough money that they can afford to have unreasonable standards but that doesn’t mean they have to have those standards or that they should forget about everyone else living their average wage life. It’s great that they’ve got so much success for themselves. But it has changed them from relatable average people to people that don’t even know what that is

Alyssa I don’t know about that. She’s only a couple years older than me and around that same time she wrote those tweets I would’ve joked about the same things. I didn’t mean what I said I just thought saying those things was funny. I have learned that was not cool and should’ve known better. I am sure she has a similar experience and would accept her apology. And yes I am gay and see no issue with her past as long as she has learned from it.

She never seemed...real to me? Like an actual human being? Almost robot like. Her videos always seemed like an act and still do now. She just didn't seem authentic. And she has always been very vanilla and almost ott fake syrupy sweet. Which I'm not a fan of because it seems that she doesn't have a strong personality at all and has no fire in her soul. I like people who are willing to stand for something and are passionate. It's like she's curated a personality that will appeal to the masses rather than being herself. I think she has hidden her true self since the start and is still hiding it now. Or maybe her fake personality has become her actual personality now...which isn't a good thing.
maybe its not entirely her decision but advice from a manager that told her how she can gain more fame and money by changing her personality and being someone she is not

This ‘game’ where she screams for help out of a window is really horrible. I was actually attacked by my ex boyfriend in my house,he had locked me in and I had to bang on the windows and scream for help as he assaulted me. To see Zoella laughing like she is and making a game out of some people’s real nightmares is extremely disturbing and frankly disgusting. This girl is really not wired right.
I personally thought that some of the things weren't that bad, but that was horrible - how is that supposed to be funny? And I found it worrying that none of the neighbors reacted. Maybe they knew she was joking? In which case she successfully turned people that would have helped into bystanders.

I'm surprised that people didn't realize earlier on that she was basically a high school mean girl grown up. We all knew a Regina George-type back in high school. Where do you think they all went? Into PR careers where they can make money off those manipulation tactics they perfected back in the day when they were calling you ugly behind your back.
I feel like a lot of them went into nursing too. Every time I think back to a mean girl in high school I just assume she’s a nurse now.
@@TheSlipperyNUwUdle That’s interesting. I’ve never personally noticed that trend with nurses, but after googling the idea, I found many articles confirming that that is a serious issue with nurses. I will say that nurses and mean girls both need excellent people skills because mean girls need that natural charisma to make people gravitate around them and nurses need people skills to do their jobs. I have zero people skills, which is why I work in tech alongside people who code. Haha

Yay thanks for doing this! I used to watch zoella religiously in 2015-2017 and she was actually the first TH-camr I ever subscribed to when I was 11! And I literally loved her so much. She seemed to be such a kind a down to earth person. I begged for her products for Christmas and would dream of moving to Brighton just to be able to meet her. But as I started to get older.. I started to watch her less and when I started to branch out to more TH-camrs like Jack Maate, I realised how much of a scam she seemed to have turned into... Whenever I see her now, it feels a lot harder to connect to her in a personal level that seemed so effortless back in the day. I can't help but see her as a multi million pound company now that I almost feel intimidated by now. I don't feel like a fan when I watch her videos now, just another average pound coin. It's so sad thinking about how I will never truly feel that connection with her again as I used to really feel as if I was a part of her life. I guess fame and a fat bank account will change almost anyone.

@@anony8341 Please don't get me wrong I 100% believe that she is a very sweet and very nice person! I definitely don't think she's evil! It's just a few things that has made her seem slightly different to how she portrays. And don't get me wrong, no one is perfect, and we all make mistakes but things like selling a 12 day advent calendar for 50 pounds when it's filled with about 13 pounds worth of items is a bit suspicious, and joking about abuse is also a bit strange. Zoe isn't a terrible person and she's build a great life for her but I think her time on TH-cam is slowly falling which was bound to happen anyways. You knowing her in person makes it hard to view her differently which is fine! I don't have a mission to turn everyone against zoella so you have every right to like her! I don't dislike her I've just moved on and so have others. I hope this explains where I was coming from :)

I find Zoella insufferable, I tried to read her second book, as I used to like the first book. I couldn’t even finish the sequel, it was so cringey. Amazing video! I absolutely love your unbiased and informative approach to this. As a longtime fan of Zoe and Alfie since the 2013 days I have tried my hardest to see both sides of these scandals. While I actually really enjoy youtubers like JaackMaate i can’t help but feel hurt when these people who are essentially my childhood are attacked for being greedy and purposely exploitive, when I personally feel that they could never be that bad. I feel like Zoe would inevitably make mistakes like this as I don’t think she was ever really aware or prepared to deal with the following she received. Thank you for this video, it’s really broadened my understanding and I hope this reaches many more people! You’ve definitely earned my subscription :)

I think what they meant was they loved watching her but over time her stuff has gotten boring. which is normal.
no matter the severity of her scandals those were some half assed apologies. especially the one about homophobia where she tried to justify it. even then every single one of them she either tried to take the blame of herself and put it on someone or she just said sorry you got offended. if i know anything about youtuber apologies thats the main route you aren't supposed to go down because you don't actually sound sorry that you did just that you got caught.

The “it makes you wonder what she’s like irl” comment reminded me of a dude in my year at school who had an anti-bullying TH-cam channel (tomisnotawesome) that - while very minimal in comparison - gained a pretty decent following...the irony was he was a bully himself, not in a classic beating-kids-up-and-calling-them-names kinda way but he’d be intentionally rude and talk down to people with low self-esteem or people he saw as beneath him, would do and say almost anything to make people uncomfortable and - it eventually turned out - was using the clout he gained to...let’s say inappropriately engage with underage fans. Never trust what these people are telling you at face value, it’s so easy to fake lmao 🤷♀️

As a writer, I remember how betrayed I felt when her ghostwriting was revealed...and I didn't even follow her.
I have loved and watched her since I was about 11 years old, and I still find her entertaining to watch. I bought her books and I loved them at the age I read them. I find her content to be relaxing and chill. I think she is a genuine person but people get the wrong idea because it seems polished. I think after being on youtube for 10+ she knows what to say, how to say it, but I don't think it makes her any less relatable. She stopped posting on her original channel years ago and you can tell she enjoys making the content she makes now on her vlogging one. I think it's quite normal for youtubers to fall into their niche and just go with what makes them happiest and almost easiest especially when they have seen immense success early on.

I personally liked watching her older collab videos and I still watch majority of her vlogs. I find them calming and good background noise since not much is going on in them. I always look forward to her Vlogmas videos.
I didn’t know about the tweets, but honestly the worst thing was the joke about domestic abuse. It’s because of people like her, that people like me (victims) don’t file police reports and seek help.

I checked her channel after watching this, she's pregnant and her latest video was of her decorating the baby's room.
I'm glad I now know about her behaviour, but it's sad because I remember watching her vlogmas videos and it always made me really happy during the festive season, it sucks when someone the public trusts turns out like this.

Honestly as someone who's English I never really understood the appeal of the whole group including zoella - they just never came across as real people, and now they have completely lost touch with reality - she specifically comes across as the kind of girl who would be a bully in school and has never grown out of that 🤔
I used to like her and be proud to watch her videos because I also come from wiltshire, y'know, root for a local person! She slowly became less and less relatable, and although I was having doubts about her the "ghostwriter scandal" really put the nail in the coffin for me. I wasn't even interested in the book as it was too young for me, but as someone who has always wanted to be an author it really made me realise that she was in a completely different world to me. The following products like Zoella Beauty seemed like such a cash grab when all her "favourites" were basically luxury items, in reality she'd never think to buy that kind of product if it wasn't her own brand.
