Hello everyone, I hope you enjoy watching all my videos of Japan as much as I enjoyed making them. Some really cool adventures coming soon. You can watch the other videos I filmed in Japan here: th-cam.com/play/PL0wwMzq5-Q2icG4ZFUm9fH-1wvtTifUdD.html
Thank you for sharing your journey to Kyoto. Thank goodness you finally arrived at your destination but not again you got the wrong exit. It is so pitiful to see you lost your way. You must be dead tired of reaching the hotel. This video is very helpful for us going to Tokyo in May. We have to do our homework before going to Japan.
You are welcome. I am glad you found the video helpful. I am currently in Japan now until late June and I am posting more videos of Japan in case you are interested in watching more of Japan.
this felt like i was following my dad. thanks for this video! i will be traveling w my older brother and will be heading directly to kyoto upon arrival since we wanna go from farthest to closest so we dont struggle when heading to airport to go back home. :) thank you again!
This is great! Will be flying to Haneda Airport in March but staying in Kyoto for the first few nights of our trip. Needed to see how to get there! Thanks for the help.
Thanks for taking the time to document your travels. My family is going to Japan for the first time and taking the exact trip. super helpful to see everything in real time instead of trying to blindly figure it out when you land.
I enjoy filming in real time without following any written script. It is fun to do it. I am glad you found the video helpful. Thank you for the comment.
Love your videos! LOL, I laughed SO hard! your videos that feature "oh boy" moment are some of my favorites, and you said it to the tune of 3x in this one: so funny 😁 gosh you were so jet-lagged after a long flight from LA 🤭🤣 shame this video was just 24 mins, I would watch this for hours...Looking forward to watching your next Japan videos
Really useful video. We'll be making exactly the same trip in April so thanks so much for this and for including all the glitches. Hopefully, they'll help us to avoid them!
@@WandererBell Did you consider getting your JR pass validated at the airport rather than at the Shinkansen station? I was wondering if that might be an easier option for us.
@@madonanist2177 The JR ticket office at the airport was closed when my flight arrived. If your flight arrives during business hours, then it will be easier for you to pick up the JR pass at the airport.
@@blue7bear I ordered the JR Pass online from klook. They shipped it from Taiwan to California. It took about 10 days to get the exchange voucher. TH-cam does not allow links in the comments.
You took a Keikyu Railway train from Haneda to Shinagawa. Shinkansen is JR trains. Two different companies completely. So, you first needed to exit Keikyu Shinagawa station to go to JR office to collect your JR pass. It is confusing for the first time, but get used to it easily.
If you just want to get a Shinkansen ticket to get to Kyoto without a JR Pass, then you can just buy a Shinkansen ticket from any Shinkansen ticket machine located at Shinagawa station. You will have to get to Shinagawa station first by using an IC card. However, if you want to buy a JR Pass, then you will have to order it online at least 3 weeks prior to your arrival. I explained the process in this video th-cam.com/video/annO4oIDWPQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi very helpful video. Thank you! I will be traveling to Japan next month and going from haneda to Kyoto round trip. That will be my only train travel over my seven day trip. Based on your video I’m wondering if Jr pass is not worth the trouble for a single round trip on Shinkansen?. Appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks!
Hello, I’m traveling on beginning of May when it’s holiday there. I’m so scared because I’m taking same round as you. From Haneda airport to Koyoto. My plane supposed to arrive at 4:30 PM and I’m scared I will miss to pick up JR tickets.
Hello, don't worry. It will be fine as long as your flight is not significantly delayed. JR East Travel Service Center at Haneda Airport Terminal 3. 【2022/12/20~】 open all days:6:45~20:00 Please see JR East HP.
Thank you! You can buy a Nozomi Shinkansen train ticket from the ticket machines at most Shinkansen train stations. Nozomi train will get you to Kyoto faster than the Hikari train but the JR pass does not cover Nozomi trains. If you want a JR pass, you will have to order it online in advance and you have to meet the JR pass requirements.
Thank you so much, I was starting to develop anxiety from the unknown! Will I be able to exchange my JR voucher, if Shinagawa closes at 7pm. My flight lands at 7:25pm :(
You are welcome. Check out the business hours for JR EAST Travel Service Center located at Haneda Airport Terminal 3. I think they close at 8pm. It was closed when I was there but now they extended their business hours till 8pm. Shinagawa JR office still closes at 7pm. You may not have time to do it on arrival day.
can i ask why your JR pass is a little card? i thought it was bigger and not going into the ticket machine i´m going to japan in a few months and this video was really helpful Thank you!
Really useful video. Thank you! We are planning for a trip in October and are flying from Washington DC to Haneda airport. We will be getting the JR Railpass and therefore will need to make sure to get the tourist stamp in our passport. The question that we have is, did you use the automated system through the immigration process? Is so, how easy was it to identify who to go to to get the passport stamp from? Just trying to make sure that after the long flight, that we don’t miss getting the stamp and know who to look for to get it from. Thank you for the video. 😀
Thank you for the kind feedback. I am not quite sure what you mean when you mentioned an automated system. The system that I used is the bar code that I had to obtain before flying to Japan. I had to show that bar code when the officer stamped my passport. An officer still has to see your passport and take a photo of you before stamping the passport. I don't think there was an automated system with no stamp at the time for U.S. citizens unless they recently implemented something new this month.
Thank you for the reply. From what I have read when researching the JR Pass the airports have automatic gates where you can scan your QR Code, you scan your Passport and then it takes your photo (similar to what the officer does at the booth) and in return makes the entry process faster. The JR Rail Pass website makes a strong note that if you use this system that you need to find an agent at those gates to get the stamp before leaving the area (as once you leave that area you can not get your stamp). So I was just wondering if you had used the system; which you said you did not. But its also good to know there are still officer booths that can be approached for immigration.
@@TwoTicketsToAdventure This depends on what country you are from. If you are from the USA, you still have to go through the manual passport control process. I saw the automated system but that was not for U.S. citizens at the time. I am not sure if they recently changed the process.
Rookie mistakes. Exchange your Jr pass at the jr office at the airport if you need it right away. Then ride the monorail to the end stop, then take yamanote to shinagawa. All covered by jr pass.
