Flipping a BROKEN Craftsman LT2000

- I bought this tractor for $75. It was advertised as having unknown engine problems. The owner thought it was a bent push rod, broken valve, dirty carb, or blown head gasket. It seemed like a good deal, so I went for it. I diagnosed and fixed it over the weekend and got it all polished and listed for sale!

I had an LT2000. It was a great mower. Ran like a champ. I now have a 2021 John Deere X350.
You’re right, we LOVE tractor refurbish videos! I really found it interesting watching how you troubleshoot problems. Thanks for showing!
Thanks. Tractors are my primary thing, so I plan to keep the videos coming!
@@Kylebythecreek If you ever get a chance to restore a rear engine riding mower, please do! I love my tricked out Ariens 10hp riding mower. Just a suggestion Kyle.
@@Shorty4808 thanks for the suggestion
Never seen anyone torch the grass chute before. Interesting tip, thanks !
Yup, it works great
That turned out really nice! I like the plastic refurbish with the torch!!
Thank you very much. It's a great way to breathe some life back into faded plastics
Seems it common to have blades on backwards, see it a lot with all the DIY mechanic types watching videos 😊
The handle for Forward/Reverse is so much nicer than the pedals. It is BADLY FLOODED> use quick start. Rocker Arm Stud.
My friend, this is the first video that I've ever seen of yours. I can tell you this of all the TH-cam videos i watch, i very rarely subscribe and you're one that I did and the reason I did is, you do things the right way for your customers. You did not cut any corners on this particular video. You took the time to even do a repainting of the mower deck and I was just impressed and I look forward to watching all your other videos and great job. Thank you for doing what you do. For guys like me. Dana
Wow! Thank you so much. I’m glad you found my channel and I hope you enjoy my other videos as I try to do the same level of work as you saw here.
Great job on the ole crafty. Love the video work and will be watching more. I do basically what you do on the tractor flips. Thanks for the upload 😎
Thanks so much. I’m a subscriber! Keep up the good work on your channel!
When you become a TH-cam star you gonna upgrade that shed 😎
Thanks for this video. After around 2 hours use on the weekend, mine died just as i was putting it away. (Kohler courage 19 though)
Flames out the exhaust and popping carby. Just turns over now like yours did.(not firing at all). I'll have to check the valves out to see if thats the problem too.
I’m glad this was helpful. Hopefully you get your mower fixed!
@@Kylebythecreek yeh, hopefully she'll be right. I'll have a tinker with it on the weekend.
Blades did fine job upside down..Turned out nice..❤
Kinda did!
Pretty pretty good Kyle great results, I wanna bring my exact mower ,you go over it
Great job,looks brand new.
Thank you very much. It was a fun project
Great job; really liked it.
Thank you. I hope you enjoy my other videos too! Consider subscribing as well!
Thank you for the video
You are very welcome!
You are just like a kid with a new toy
It’s great when the machines turns out the way you’d hope!
Awesome Job! 💪
Thanks. Lots of fun. These craftsman are easy enough to work on
Great Awesome Fantastic Super job Kyle!!!!!!!!!¡
Thanks Rick!
Good information. Stay safe my friend. God bless you. 🙏🙏🙏🇺🇲🇺🇲
God bless!
That is sort of funny how easy some are to be fixed , but alot of people dont know.
True!
Good job i do the same to mowers here in new york
Found your channel today and immediately subscribed. Really enjoy learning from your videos. Any chance you could do a video showing how you go about degreasing, cleaning and painting the rusted up engines and frames on your typical mower. I’d love to know what cleaners you use and the whole process if possible. I’m a hobbyist so I would love the tips
Hi! I’m glad you found my channel. And thanks for subscribing. I use purple power degreaser and I’ve done some videos with most of the things you’re looking for- keep watching!
Another good one!
Thanks Doug!
First time viewer and liked the way you took time paint the items
Thank you! I hope you get a chance to check out my other tractor videos and consider subscribing to my channel!
Not intending to be critical but why waste your time honking on the starter for so long when you should know if it does not fire up in 2 to 3 cranks it needs love. Carb cleaning and fuel system in your case as a starting point. Save the starter and battery if as noted she does not fire up in a few cranks. Just saying
great job and great video, don't forget that rust on the bottom don't know the top was painted
Thanks. I won’t forget
I see a lot of slop in the steering links
My LT2000 still runs. I had to do some engine work. Kohler engines are tough. You have a B&S engine. I will NEVER buy another Briggs & Stratton engine.
They all have there weak points but most are due to not being serviced properly if ever 😊
very nice, very nice, great job :)
Thank you!
@6:00 when you were cranking it, the amount of blow back out of that carb was concerning. I would have checked the valve lash, and a compression test for sure, right off the bat, really simple thing to do I am sure you are aware. The exterior of that carb was a little dirty, did the sonic not clean that?
Yeah I was thinking of the valves all along, but I wanted to hear how it was running first before I checked. And the ultra sonic wasn’t able to knock all the dirt off the exterior of the carb. It was really caked on there
@@Kylebythecreek I found that doing a compression check right off has saved me more times, brcause if there us a stuck valves, that piston is not kind to it lol.
@@michaelkennedy2528 good advice!
Hey Kyle I'm Brendon don't run it too long without the cover
Overheating, of course. The cover was off only for testing, I don't run tractor like that normally.
Please get it fixed and running again Kyle by the creek
Yup! She’s a runner now
She’s acting like it has very low compression. Like either the rings are worn or a valve is leaking.
You might want to put some deck wheels on it lol cause when you go on small hills or bumps it won't leave uneven lines and stuff.
I sold it the other day. These actually cut pretty good, some craftsman decks come with deck wheels like that, but not these LT2000’s
@@Kylebythecreek ok I see now, yep sounds good I'm sure it cut good you had that mower looking good 👍
@@craigywaigyplays thanks!
Hi I’m new to working on these…any ideas what would cause the valve to be completely loose like that?
over time the threads might back out
May i ask what you resell your mowers like this for when done? I do the same as you and just trying to get an idea if I am asking for enough when I re sell mine. Thanks! 🙂
I think I listed this one first $750. It might have sold for $700
@@Kylebythecreek thank you Kyle 😎
good video, but had to watch on 2X speed, moved along too slow, I wish you tube had a 4X speed for this video
Hey Kyle if you still have this tractor what are the front and rear tire sizes?
front: 15x6-6
rear: 18x9.5-8
Thank You!@@Kylebythecreek
@@SalvatoreAlbano-jq7ex glad to help!
Great diagnostic and repair videos. HIPA is looking for some TH-camrs to collaborate on creating and sharing useful small engine repair videos. Are you interested in a collaboration?
Possibly! I’d like to hear more
YOU ARE GOOD DID YOU TAKE A CLASS TO LEARN THE TRADE
Thanks! No, I never took a class.

Nice Video - How much did you sell it for?
I have it listed for $750. Not sold yet
👍
Your going to damage the starter
Sadly 😢
The starter was fine. I sold that mower months ago
