Seems like so much of the material is associated with pet wood one way or another out there. Love it all! Those green mossy/agate filled rounds are so cool 🔥
Yeah, a lot of the mineralization is occurring in, on, or near the wood. There are some calcite and agate veins in situ, but they are usually really thin veins compared to the pieces coming out of the wood.
It looks like those few pieces you found are petrified fern tree. Really cool. Go home take you shoes off just outside the door. Set them in until they dry....take them outside and bang the heck out of them and brush off all the dirt. Then put them back on and head out to get a new round! 😂 Thank you for the cool video. Has Fonzi ever took off when your bent over and caused you to face plant yet? 🤣
Haha. I like the way you think! I actually did go out twice in 3 days. I know tree ferns have been found nearby in the early 1900s, specifically Osmundites oregonensis.
All that petrified wood could have been a log jam from a volcanic mud flow. All the woods carbon attracts minerals for agate, calcite, and oxided ( jasper). Great spot.
Man I wish I could go hounding with you some time! I didn't make it out to Central last season, and it's a real bummer. I did have a decent trip to Graveyard, Haystack, and Warm Springs reservoir, at least.
Thsnk you! Happy New Year too you and yours, as well. I hope it's a fantastic year for you!! I've found quite a bit of sections with the Jasper. Only rarely I have i found intact rounds. But they're out there. I've found a few amazing Jasper limbs over the years in these hills.
GG ❤ watching Fonzie and I love the rocks and angles. We sit through the ads for You two. If it's raining the rocks are wet.
Nice, productive way to enjoy the weather!
I love rainy days. I love them more when I can look for rocks.

What fantastic finds! Pretty amazing to have access to such pieces
I'm always thankful for our public lands!
That limb cast with the agate on the side is awesome! It would be cool to see some cuts of it.
I'll definitely try to get some cuts of that!

Fonzi hasn't made me face plant... yet. It's been close a few times now. Definitely adds to the danger factor when things are slick and steep.
@@itslattice4195 Well, stay fleet of foot and have the hand tripod ready! Thanks again for the great video.

Great spot.
Likely to be the case. Definitely a big mud flow. Concentrated areas are probably where all the vegetation jammed up.

Jay, love the jasperized wood you found? How common is that for you to find? Happy New Year to you and your family.

Hi, I know a lot of rock hounders don’t like to share where they hunt, understanding, but I am curious where this area is if you are willing to share.
Two rockhounds kilin’ it!
Thank you! We had a lot of fun! Can't wait to get back out
