yaaay! I've been doing research on hamsters for the past few days (binge watching everything lol) and finally yesterday I adopted a poor little russian dwarf hamster. She is very very very nervous and was screaming when the ladies were trying to catch her :( she's had some bad experiences with people and other hamsters so it's going to take a lot to tame her, thank you for this video, great advice :)

Mine used to nibble my hand a bit. I would pull my hand back then lightly tap on his nose, saying stk stk or no no something like that. Either because of that or he is used to my scent, but no more biting.
This video is old but I’ve just now come across it! I have a roborovski hammie as well (Millie) and for the last week I’ve been doing this with her! Today was her first day of bathtub bonding and OMGGG she warmed up so quickly and loved running around my hands and on my legs! Today has made her more of a confident hamster as well, since I put her back in her cage she hasn’t been hiding like she used to she’s been on her wheel, burrowing, eating and playing with all of her toys! I, so glad to see her enjoying life and expressing her true bubbly self!!!
She’s adorable! I LOVE Robo’s! They are so cute, I had had a Cinnamon Robo before (Red Eyes) And he was so friendly! He climbed all over everyone and always wanted to play. He was like a mini human, he slept in the night and played in the day! He recently passed away because he got too old, he lived his full life. He was very tame and never ran fast when you held him, he understood everything! My family can’t live without a hammy friend and we got a new fella, another Cinnamon Robo! He’s just like my past hamster, Fudge. We named him Mr. Smee! He loves to play. R.I.P Fudge, he’s watching over Mr. Smee! :) ❤️❤️❤️

Omg I feel so bad for you because I’ve never had a Hammy before and I’m not getting a robo dwarf bc they are so small and I rather the Syrians more so I’m getting a Syrian (no hate it’s just that I think that they are soo small and I really wanna hold a big hammy not a teeny tiny one) And my friend actually has a Syrian hammy he’s a boy and his name is Kiwi and the first time on her birthday I tried to hold him and there were so many people so he probably got scared because he bit me on my finger and then the second time I held him (not on the birthday) on a different day he didn’t bite and he was sooooo fluffy and then my mum recently held him she fell in love with the their fur and behavior and overall the animals the hamsters now she’s getting me a Syrian that looks similar to my friends one which is white with on fat stripe of light ginger!!!!

•annalise• D I get one earlier today, they are pretty nervous at first but you need to tame them. Leave them alone for 1-2 days and make sure they have toys and food and water and things like that so it wont get bored. Just make sure you do a lot of research, that’s what I did and it’s going pretty smoothly!
I've had my robo for a year now. My very first one was tame so quickly (I find that the females are usually way easier to tame). The one I have now is male and he is so difficult to tame. He is not as loving as some other robos can get when being tamed. He is pretty resistant to it, but is tame is some ways. It's definitely frustrating at times. Like one night, he'll climb into my hand when I put it in the cage, but the next, he'll dart away from me. I think I've made significant progress though, because every time he hears my voice, he runs to the edge of the cage and looks up (he's in a tank) and it's the cutest thing. This is some really good taming advice. I've had my robo hamster Millie for about a month and I wasn't sure how to tame her enough to hold her. She was very skittish and scared when I first got her but now I can give her treats and have my hand in her cage without her being scared now.
I had no idea you had to tame them. I've only had one hamster before and she was so sweet never bit me or ran away from me. Glad I found your videos I'm getting my second hammy in a few days and I'm so excited!
I never thought of the bath tub I have been just holding them over their cage until they decide they’re done being held...definitely putting them in the tub later!

When I first got my hamster I tried taming it but when I tried feeding him he bit my finger until it bleeds since that time I'm too scared to put my hand close to my hamster 😐
I got nibbled too. My hamster got close to my hand, eat the treat, and also start nibble on my finger. Some bites do stings but I usually gently shakes the hamster off. Thats why its better to tame them when they are still babies coz the bites and nibbles doesnt hurt as much.
Danah Sakr try removing the hamster from his inclosure by using a cup or a travel cage (so like put the cup at an angle in the cage and he’ll most likely climb in) then carry him to a bath tub and sit down while interacting with him. I find that since hamsters are prey animals, they feel scared or threatened if your hand comes in from above to pick them up. 😊 Hope this helps

She is so adorable! I was going to get a robo while I was on my way home from a trip, but I didn’t want them to be in the box for 4 hours! I’m glad I didn’t!
K K I had to get a hamster but the nearest petco was 2 hours away so we chanced it, and in the middle she broke out of the box! We put her in the big cage in for the rest of the ride!
pawsand claws did your ham pass away from a disease or old age? If it's disease, preferably not. If it's from old age, make sure you sanitize and clean it throughly
pawsand claws I mean if it’s not contagious, just boil all the wooden toys and disinfect all the plastic toys. It’s best to ask your local ver and ask them about it

I’m a new hamster owner & not only have several of your other videos helped me in ensuring I get what is best for my hamster, but I wasn’t entirely sure on the best way of starting the taming process so this was really helpful ☺️ honestly thank you for making your videos as a whole because unfortunately a lot of people don’t really discuss or promote proper hamster care, luckily I did a lot of research before I got my hamster, but I know a lot of people don’t because the narrative that ‘it’s just a hamster’ & that they don’t have many needs because they’re small always seems to be pushed, which is so wrong & it breaks my heart because many people don’t even realise that what they’re doing for their hamster is harmful. So thank you for being the voice for these adorable creatures & taking the time to educate people ☺️💕
This is fun to watch, my Syrian hamster Leon is still on the taming process, at first he always refuse to get treats with me but now he's receiving now. I hope our bond will still grow thicker

It’s been 3 months since I’ve had my robo and yesterday I put some seeds and treats on my palm of my hand and she actual climbed on and ate the seeds. She sometimes nibbles but it doesn’t hurt.
Exactly! My friend had Robo hamsters and whenever it was in my hand, they always bit me and it hurt, so I was prepared to feel painful bites. But mines nibbles are more like a tiny pinch that doesnt even hurt. It turns out, their hamster was super stressed.

My robo has been so hard to tame! I've had him for over a month and not much has changed, the bathtub method freaks him out so it doesn't work well for me, do you have any tips? Edit: this method works great! I just had too be patient!! Louie trusts my hand now! He's still a skiddish little boy, but he always jumps into my hand cause he thinks there is food!! He finally trusts me and he's like tater tot, he always thinks my hand has food 😆 our nightly routine is he wakes up around 10:30 PM and we hang out for like 20 mins. My hamster nibbles me every time I handle him To see if I’m food but it does’t really bother me since it does’t hurt Btw u can use gloves And when u feel comfortable handling ur hamster u can take off the gloves
I’m 11 recently got two Robovrokis (housed separately) and they are so adorable! They are both male and I named them Chip and Pickles. They were housed in the pet store together with one other hamster in a 12x12 aquarium! That’s outrageous! I would’ve gotten the other hamster, but I just don’t have enough room… back to the point. This video is going to help me a lot! Chip seems ok with petting, but Pickles is a little bit more skiddish. They both take treats from my hands, so that’s a good sign! It's such a time and energy commitment to bond with Roborovskis. I've two and they're very different yet kinda the same. Charlie is curious of me but his fear keeps him at a distance. Timmy, on the other hand, is also curious of me but his fear causes him to bite. I also think he associates me with food, so his biting habit has been hard to break. How do I teach him not to bite? I feel like hand-feeding them isn't always the right approach to taming.

pawsand claws did your ham pass away from a disease or old age? If it's disease, preferably not. If it's from old age, make sure you sanitize and clean it throughly
pawsand claws I mean if it’s not contagious, just boil all the wooden toys and disinfect all the plastic toys. It’s best to ask your local ver and ask them about it

I’m a new hamster owner & not only have several of your other videos helped me in ensuring I get what is best for my hamster, but I wasn’t entirely sure on the best way of starting the taming process so this was really helpful ☺️ honestly thank you for making your videos as a whole because unfortunately a lot of people don’t really discuss or promote proper hamster care, luckily I did a lot of research before I got my hamster, but I know a lot of people don’t because the narrative that ‘it’s just a hamster’ & that they don’t have many needs because they’re small always seems to be pushed, which is so wrong & it breaks my heart because many people don’t even realise that what they’re doing for their hamster is harmful. So thank you for being the voice for these adorable creatures & taking the time to educate people ☺️💕

It’s been 3 months since I’ve had my robo and yesterday I put some seeds and treats on my palm of my hand and she actual climbed on and ate the seeds. She sometimes nibbles but it doesn’t hurt.
Exactly! My friend had Robo hamsters and whenever it was in my hand, they always bit me and it hurt, so I was prepared to feel painful bites. But mines nibbles are more like a tiny pinch that doesnt even hurt. It turns out, their hamster was super stressed.

My robo has been so hard to tame! I've had him for over a month and not much has changed, the bathtub method freaks him out so it doesn't work well for me, do you have any tips? Edit: this method works great! I just had too be patient!! Louie trusts my hand now! He's still a skiddish little boy, but he always jumps into my hand cause he thinks there is food!! He finally trusts me and he's like tater tot, he always thinks my hand has food 😆 our nightly routine is he wakes up around 10:30 PM and we hang out for like 20 mins. Thank you for posting these videos!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate them! 😂

Thank you! I only refill the dish every 2-3 days or for Tater tot because she eats really slow only refill once everything is gone, she gets daily veggies :)

The channel of things I tamed mine by putting it in a tub with a wheel for stress and you feed him/her and let them and try to pick him/her

I’m 11 recently got two Robovrokis (housed separately) and they are so adorable! They are both male and I named them Chip and Pickles. They were housed in the pet store together with one other hamster in a 12x12 aquarium! That’s outrageous! I would’ve gotten the other hamster, but I just don’t have enough room… back to the point. This video is going to help me a lot! Chip seems ok with petting, but Pickles is a little bit more skiddish. They both take treats from my hands, so that’s a good sign! It's such a time and energy commitment to bond with Roborovskis. I've two and they're very different yet kinda the same. Charlie is curious of me but his fear keeps him at a distance. Timmy, on the other hand, is also curious of me but his fear causes him to bite. I also think he associates me with food, so his biting habit has been hard to break. How do I teach him not to bite? I feel like hand-feeding them isn't always the right approach to taming.
