    Also it may take a while!! I had my hamster for 2 years and he just now feel comfortable eating in my hands 🤣 I started slow by hand feeding! Best way to tame them

    You could also offer the treats with a spoon instead of a string! I used a spoon when i first tamed my mice and after some time i offered with my hands.

    Uhm hi!
    I have a question regarding 1:43
    Since i have already rubbed the tissue around my hands and arm for my scent,
    I put it in the hamster cage
    But my hamster kind of ate the tissue bit by bit. So i was thinking that it will harm the hamster and throw the tissue away
    So my question is, won't it harm the hamster after i put the tissue in the cage, because they eat it?

    • @MyCuteHamster00
      @MyCuteHamster00  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Hey there! 😊 There is no need to worry. ❤ Your hamster is not eating the paper, they are just putting it in their cheek pouches to transport to their nest. It really looks like they are eating it though so I can understand the shock.😅 The tissues are great material for a soft and cozy nest so they will be spending a lot of time surrounded by your smell.

    Hi! Am adopting a hamster, idk what best breed fits me since an a newbie/begginer, could you recommend me some good breeds for starters? Thxx❤❤

    • @MyCuteHamster00
      @MyCuteHamster00  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a hard question since each species has things that make them easier or harder to care for. Each hamster will also have their own unique personality. The only one I wouldn't recommend for a beginner is a robo because they are lightning fast and would be hard to handle for an inexperienced person. Hybrid dwarfs and syrians are a bit calmer. Dwarfs are really small and gentle so it might be harder to do health checks. Since syrians are bigger that would be easier. However, it's good to keep in mind that female syrian hamsters might require more space than both genders of other species of hamsters and if they are unhappy with the space they will try to escape. The bare cage minimum for all species of hamsters I recommend is 100x50cm but female syrians will commonly need more than that so it is important to consider the space you have. I don't have any clear opinion abut chinese hamsters so I won't comment on them. I guess if I had to choose, I would choose a male syrian or hybrid dwarf (male or female) for a complete beginner.

    So, I’m scared about stroking and holding my hamster in case she bites, I don’t want to get my hands close to her to smell in case she bites, I know all the basics like wash your hands after eating but im still really concerned. Please respond!

    • @MyCuteHamster00
      @MyCuteHamster00  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello 😊 What you can try is use gloves in the beginning when you try to handle her to protect your hands. You can also still use the trick with toilet paper to rub on your hands to make it smell like you and use longer treats to tame them (they will still feel your smell because their sense of smell is good). Would you like to be able to handle her in the future or would prefer not to? If you are scared and don't want to that's ok too, you can use a mug or a hideout to move them to the playpen or the transporter if needed. However, it is useful to be able to handle them at little for health check ups or if you need to treat them for something.

    does this work with tedder bear hamsters

    • @MyCuteHamster00
      @MyCuteHamster00  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! It would work on any species of domesticated hamsters but it will depend on every individual hamster how long it takes to tame them. One think I want to point out that teddy bear and fancy hamsters are not really a breed of hamsters. It's just something pet stores invented to promote them more successfully. They are both Syrian hamsters.

I have updated my cage and he has a large sand bath and coco peat a large wheel and lots of bedding,but I barely get to see him and I think he dosent like me anymore because I scared him and so many times😢 I want to bond with my hamster so I’m looking for tips thanks!

      Thank you for upgrading your hamster's cage and adding things they need. Good job! 😊 Hamsters can be pretty timid in general, especially if they were frightened multiple times. Changing the cage, can also be stressful so they will need some time to relax. What is important to do is to show your hamster that they can trust you by giving them space and not forcing them to do things they don't want. Try to show them that you are harmless and useful to them. Show them that you are the one giving them food and paper tissues. Make sure to talk a lot in a gentle voice when scattering food around the cage. I also like to drop the food on harder items in the cage like wood or terracotta so that the food falling makes noise they will connect with my voice. In general, the advice in the video doesn't apply to only your first interactions but also when your hamster becomes timid for some other reason like a scary experience, a trip to the vet, having to handle them to treat them and so on. The most important point is to gain their trust back.

      You can try dimming the lights in the room a few hours before they usually go out. If after a week or two of that they don't start coming out earlier you can turning off all lights and using only a red light. But keep in mind that they are not supposed to be on for the whole night or for long periods of time. Use them for an hour or two at most. Don't abuse it! 😊 I explain more here. th-cam.com/video/MxuCsrGj4ZY/w-d-xo.html

    How do you clean that up😨

    • @MyCuteHamster00
      @MyCuteHamster00  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's pretty easy. You don't clean out everything. How you clean depends on your hamster's habits. Most hamsters pee in their sand bath and on the wheel and around it. They will also pee where they sleep. You regularly do spot cleaning where you remove only the soiled bedding, sift the sand and wipe or wash the wheel. If your hamster pees mostly in their tunnels in the bedding then you need to do some digging. It's harder in the beginning until you figure out your hamsters habits but later you know where too look. If your hamster doesn't pee much in the bedding you clean that part less often. I do spot cleaning every 5-7 days but then every 2 months you are supposed to do a deeper cleaning where you switch out one third of the bedding. Here is me cleaning my hamster's cage for the first time after I got her. I had to do some digging in case she pees in the bedding. th-cam.com/video/U-OA2bDmGQI/w-d-xo.html

    • @MyCuteHamster00
      @MyCuteHamster00  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Don't worry, it's not destroyed. Just observe your hamster's behavior. If they are coming to your hand you can give them food and treats and take it slow from there. But if they are scared and running away you should give them some space and start the process from the beginning by following the steps I described. If they are scared it will of course take longer so have patience with them. They don't know you and you are much bigger than them so you need to be gentle. 😊

    My hamster loves the hamsterball I got one perfect for him so he won t get hurt and he loves running around in it

    • @MyCuteHamster00
      @MyCuteHamster00  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately, even though it may look like at first glance that they are enjoying it, the reason they run around in it is because they are trying to find a way out of it. Hamsters have really bad eyesight and the ball makes it even harder because not only does it make seeing hard, it also blocks out smells. Hamsters use smells to navigate their environment so the hamster is disoriented and stressed. They are not really getting any benefit or enrichment since they are not actually exploring their environment, they are just stuck in the ball. Because they can't come out when they want they are also forced to pee in it if they need to pee so they are stepping all over their pee and breathing in the smell and ammonia. Even without the pee the ventilation is already really bad in a hamster ball, especially for a hamster that is running. There isn't a lot of oxygen. Another thing that happens often is that a hamster's foot gets stuck in on of the ventilation holes and breaks their finger or ankle. 😢 I know pet shops recommend them a lot but unfortunately they are not good at all. You can always put a wheel on the floor when letting your hamster out or put different substrates or boredom breakers for them to play with.
