The Chrysler 4-speed automatic transmission has a dipstick.
Instead of dropping a pan full of ATF making a mess you can use a fluid extractor thru the dipstick tube which drains most of the fluid from the transmission pan before you drop the pan.
This saves a person both a mess on the ground and getting bathed in transmission fluid.
I bought an electric fluid extractor off Amazon for under $25.00 that pulls the fluid out then drains it into your empty bottle.
I have a Dodge Journey 4-cylinder engine with this same 4-speed automatic transmission, and it works great, no mess and no need to dump drained fluid from your floor pan into a bottle.
Also, When I bought the aftermarket drain filter it came with an actual gasket which I used instead of the RTV that you must scrape off each time plus wait for the newly applied RTV to set up before you can tighten the transmission pan bolts.
No more waiting and no more old RTV to scrape off each time I service the transmission.

Awesome simple video straight to the point. Only thing that would be helpful would be what size the bolts are and exactly how much fluid is needed for specific vehicle. But good video thank you.

Perhaps too late for my contribution; nevertheless, do not tighten the bolts to 19 ft lbs like the video suggests, otherwise you will damage the threads. Torque is on 40TE 12 nm, on 41TE 19 nm or 62TE 6nm.

I need 2 know what the transmission is like when pulled out, because I need to replace a little transmission solenoid piece. Any help? Like I took off the pan already, but the solenoid is located inside of the transmission. I need to know if I'm disconnecting anything if unscrew pieces

My 2013 3.6 v6 has no dipstick. Only a port that says dealer use only.

    • @gnipgnop-yn6ox

Yeah, the V-6 models use a German made 6-speed transmission that has no dipstick.
You must buy a special dipstick then follow the fluid measurement guidelines that come with the dipstick based on transmission temperature, a real pain and time consuming compared to Chrysler's 4-speed automatic.
You put the dipstick thru the dealer use plug for both measurement and filling the transmission.

May be a couple days late, but if you have access to a small deadblow hammer you can give it a few light taps on each corner of the pan to get it loose.

Not 19 ft lbs U Will Mess The Threads Up And The Bolts Will Just Spin In The Reciever Threads

^ On the trans pan bolts, 19lb/ft is erroneous. Might be a misprint/bad info in the Haynes manual. We tighten M14 spark plugs to that spec. Not M6 trans pan bolts.
8-9lb/ft or 96-108in/lbs usually does it. Won't squish or damage the gasket; won't damage threads. Hope this info finds the masses watching the video.
Also, 4-cylinder motor shown in the video. Same service procedure for the 3.6L V6, just a different pan size with a deeper sump. I recommend folks do the trans fluid every 30-40k miles depending how they drive. It can keep a $4-5k transmission alive 2-3x longer. I have tons of proof come through my shop... 👀 😎

    • @TheTexican05
      @TheTexican05 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@brandonGCHACHU Not at all. Just use the correct spec fluid from Valvoline or Castrol per that year, make and model. IF the fluid is super dark, do the first drain and fill, drive it for 100-500 miles, then perform a second drain and fill. Only 1/2-1/3 the total fluid volume comes out during these services. Use a high quality pan gasket and filter if your application requires pan removal.
