Growing up in Liverpool as a Catholic I can only imagine the treatment she suffered at the hands of the nuns supposedly looking after her. In my grammar school we often had nuns come in to teach. They were sadistic , always taking any physical punishment further than any other teachers. One boy got caned for walking gum onto the church's marble floor.
Sinead O'Connor one of the best talents in the world, her personal life should not be brought up at every opportunity she has struggled so much in life and given so much freely, though not an irishman myself i am proud to live just across the pond in liverpool where we often saw her perform great all round lass !

IMO, many in the world did not appreciate her in her time here. I hope and expect that she can see now that we (me included) were wrong to not embrace the wonder and the courage that is the embodiment of Sinead O'Connor. A legend on the horizon from the day she was born. It was a miracle to have shared the earth with her.
Ms O'Connor, please don't give a hoot about all the rubbish people send towards you, pure heartfelt emotion is what you do, good or bad, it just means some people in this world have the power to move some people to tears....and I thank you for that
+manchesterblue2007 Would you be so kind to elaborate on your statement? As a german, I've heard of the Saville-scandal, but I have no Idea how Sinead is related to it.
tornoutlaw sure... Sinead was an outspoken critic of abuse in the catholic church long before it became common knowledge. The 'establishment' got VERY nervous when people made noise about institutionalised abuse because they knew it extended much further than within the confines of that particular religion. Its fair to say that the media suppressed people like Sinead because they knew the extent of the problem. After the floodgates opened in the church, there was no way to stop the tidal wave of accusation and they dropped the people (politicians, police, the entertainment industry and others) like a hot potato and turned on them because of public opinion. Sinead and people like her opened the way for others to tell their stories and they did it with much risk of harm to their reputation...if they hadnt, the whole dirty secret would still be something that victims would be put at risk for by speaking out
+manchesterblue2007 I see. It is stunning (in a negative sense), how many people were and still are keeping quiet, deny any wrong doing or try to relativsie the bad things done or obscured by the powerful. And those speaking out are getting defamed. Thank you for replying!
tornoutlaw i wouldnt like to presume your circumstances but personally, as someone who was thankfully unnaffected, I'm in awe of the bravery of those who speak out, especially in the face of such daunting opposition
"There isn't even one in it!" (1:22). Love that griin on her face. Like.."gotcha!" It was going great and everyone was having fun and relaxing until the "are you all right? because people have read all these things..." I wish he had read the room and realized they were on a good and happy roll. I get why he asked it, but I agree with those who have said it's a better question asked in private when you're talking to someone who has not been all right and is sensitive about it. He didn't mean harm, but it's hard to watch. She reacts and then even seems to want to bail him out with reaching out and then claiming how nervous she is and is better understood as a singer. She is lovely in this moment and I think calling him out on it was ingrained because she was so used to this happening, and had a standard response she used to advocate for people struggling. I love that woman and miss her being alive.
MikeyFraz1 I agree. But it came from a good a good place. He genuinely cared about her, as do many other people. Perhaps he was asking on behalf of them. At the same time, if someone x suffers with a physical ailment, people will ask how they are. Why should physical illness be treated differently than mental illness?
She is HUMAN!!! Yeah, she's not a fucking marionette, we are drugged, anesthetized with fame, smiles, posed happiness and the immense amount of fallacies that exist in the world of stardom and fame. With that answer she has made me feel more comfortable than any of the answers from all the supposed stars who come to that show so perfect, dazzling and perfectly dressed

She was ahead of us in Ireland. As Catholics it was hard for some to come to terms with paedophilia. She felt it and said it as it was. We should have listened and understood.
I've seen so many "judgement" type comments thrown toward Sinead, do you guys know that she's battling fibromyalgia? Let her be, she's enduring enough pain.. she's definitely original and unique NOT weird mofos
Sinead wasn't crazy or crazed. She was honest living in a world that doesn't know how to handle the truth. I used to watch and enjoy the Graham Norton show but here I sense awkward humour. He can't handle her honesty and being called out as he quickly gets rid of her by telling to go and sing. His tone was far from neutral and then the fake cd...how do you respond to that seemingly caring question, i mean where do you begin? She just went on the show fine, open, in good faith just being herself and he treats her like she is ill. I'm not surprised she is dead.
The least they could have done is bought the effing cd, the real one. She's right to call em out on their b.s. And right to call him out on the "how are you question". If only people were real and genuine. Vale Sinead ❤
Yes indeed. Often people are just used to living in denial or they've been taught to be overly polite in such a way they never get to express themselves completely free.

Sinead making a mockery of TV world in her own inimitable style. I've been fascinated by this woman since I first clapped eyes on her... She speaks, or sings... and she's got you forever. She's a force of nature... a delicate flower... And I love her to bits.
The beginning of the interview you could see the real her, nice and relaxed. As soon as he asked how she was feeling you could see her visibly change and think "oh here we go again..."
"That is why I sing, when you see me sing I make sense" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another brilliant quote by Sinead !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet she makes so much sense when she speaks. I love watching and listening to her interviews.
It's called being a human being and having an actual personality, that is not constantly being conformed by media and fans. She just acts like herself. Real, awkward, passionate, nervous, chatty, funny, strange..that's just part of who she is, accept her or don't, she clearly doesn't care. She must be "crazy" for not caring about how every damn person sees her. Jeeze
I agree with you Vulpinegirl,; she is a real person with feelings. And, she turns those feelings into music and she will always receive accolades from the people who went through her darkest days that stuck with her to see her rise again. I love her and all that she means.
She was exactly correct about the church. Very brave. Phenomenal musician.
Edit: miss her dearly.

@@michellecorr630 how do you know that? And what ideology am I clinging to? I never stated an ideological position. Pray enlighten me … go ahead … make my day … do u feel lucky?!
@@tenoroyal So if someone has an opinion on something that differs to yours and they feel so passionate about it that makes them mentally unstable? Is that what your implying? No you need to get a grip, you might be very suprised to learn that she was indeed correct on alot of her arguments as the church has faced a lot of investigations of child abuse and many other acts since her initial stunt on the SNL show back in the 90’s. Just accept the woman had her own views wether you agree with it or not and have some god damn respect you IDIOT
Luv her. So sorry she is gone. I was in college when I started listening to her music. She was a revolutionary. She is with her son now forever 💙
Rest in peace, Sinéad O’Connor, you will be forever missed
Saw her around 2015 at the sydney opera house. She sang the house down. What an artist.
Sinead O'Connor one of the best talents in the world, her personal life should not be brought up at every opportunity she has struggled so much in life and given so much freely, though not an irishman myself i am proud to live just across the pond in liverpool where we often saw her perform great all round lass !
Thought she handled that ridiculous question quite well
Loved the way she answered Graham Norton. A true star ⭐ R.I.P.Sinead.💞
I don't care what people say about her I've always liked her & I have tremendous respect for her...
She wasn’t crazy it’s everyone else who wasn’t ready for her honesty trying to make her more like them who’s crazy. She held her ground til the end and everyone wishes they were more like her whether they want to admit it to themselves or not
When she lived in Atlanta. She would shop at Neiman Marcus I assisted her many times. Very pleasant and kind
See how the other guests are all leaning in to get as close to her greatness as possible. RIP warrior queen
There was never anything fake about Sinead O Connor. She has a voice that was a gift from God.
She said what she felt and didn't beat around the bush so to speak. She was someone who felt deeply and passionately, especially through her beautiful music. RIP dear Sinead!
I never thought much about Sinead O Conner but when she died I saw a video of her singing "Danny Boy" (1993) on an Irish show and was blown away by it.
Wow Graham really wasn’t prepared to ask a decent question. Total clarity from Sinead such a shame he missed this opportunity with her.
She was fantastic here- authentic, no bullshit, and funny! Despite her struggles. I loved seeing joking and laughing and calling everyone out. She was too good for this world💔
I would love to have had a coffee with her, she looks like she was extraordinary company.
I agree: SHE was too good for this world. Thank you @marycalolefsin9717
What an amazingly Bubbly person she was and all round genuine Human being. So So very sad, she will be greatly missed Bless her 🖤🖤
They call her crazy and fucked up? How??? What are people seeing that I’m not??
She’s very authentic, genuine, real…and smart aswell
Every word she speaks gives me hope. Sinead is stellar.
She wasn't crazy, ,we live in a crazy world 😢,, thank you Sinead for be yourself and your beautiful soul❤
Listen to her music and leave her alone - she is a fantastic human being.
YES! Listen to her music. Unfortunately to remain in the public "eye" (not ear), she has to do these screwed up interviews.

One of the most talented female artists of her generation ... Often misunderstood but hey, isn't that the mark of all geniuses?
I mean, she had the most truthful reaction to a really bad question
Sinead is badass in any situation, including the most awkward ones.♥️
Am I the only one appalled at nortons behaviour towards sinead?? Old Cd cover no disk in it and noo apology ..how are you are you alright ????? In that condescending tone..WOW!!!..poor girl she told him anyways. .love you sinead xx
He was let down by his production team, they weren't expecting her to pull the sleeve off but if they'd got the right cover it wouldn't have happened. I think at that point he was embarrassed hence the pathetic question.
Norton's a loathsome little man.
James Williams Lighten up before you hurt someone
Thanks again
norton clearly is trying to make fun of sinead, stupid twat wishes he could lick the queens shite ! fair play to sinead though flew right over her, didnt care :)
Graham should have known that "How are you? Are you ok?" would not be met with the usual, superficial response, but with honesty and sincerity from Sinéad. (😢 My goodness, I'm still grieving. )
Authenticity is labelled crazy in this capitalist patriarchal world. We owe a debt to Sinead for kicking the door down at her own cost. Tremendous person.
This capitalist patriarchal world??? What, pray tell, would you prefer instead? A communist dictatorship run by dope-smoking hippie chicks?
SINEAD your music will touch our souls for generations u have nothing to answer to .Your voice is priceless how many of us Humans cried to your song billions .Nothing compares to you....... love u sister ALOHA FROM HAWAII
She handled that stupid question in the best way.
Well said, from one bipolar/depressive to another. Keep your chin up and your head held high.
Cheers from Texas.
Sinead has a good track record dealing with the idiotic entertainment media that is obsessed with her foibles and failures. Norton went down the cheap track with his insensitive question. Sinead will always be a beacon of hope to everyone who strives to live as an authentic human being.
The girl can sing. FULL STOP. Respect!
Glad to see Sinead smiling, and thank you for inspiring other's:::))) Cheer's from Australia
Sinead is just awesome. her version of The Foggy dew is badass
The hug she and Graham have when she greets him. Whether they knew eachother or not; that was a family love hug.
Yep I know what you mean. And I agree!
Ms O'Connor, please don't give a hoot about all the rubbish people send towards you, pure heartfelt emotion is what you do, good or bad, it just means some people in this world have the power to move some people to tears....and I thank you for that
without people like sinead, jimmy saville would still be a fun figure
i kneel to this hero
+manchesterblue2007 Would you be so kind to elaborate on your statement? As a german, I've heard of the Saville-scandal, but I have no Idea how Sinead is related to it.
tornoutlaw
sure...
Thank you for replying!
tornoutlaw
i wouldnt like to presume your circumstances but personally, as someone who was thankfully unnaffected, I'm in awe of the bravery of those who speak out, especially in the face of such daunting opposition
My Hero.....LOL Keep kneeling, suits you well. :P
Graham Norton is the master of light and at the same time appreciating and caring conversation
That was an awfully odd thing to ask her in an interview like this.
He meant well though.
A-durr, because she's not mentally ill...
Graham is a sell out just like corden

Her ripping off the fake cover to reveal the empty inside is perfectly symbolic of what she's been doing all along
Perfectly said. Thank you.
Sinead was one of the most beautiful women in the world with one of the most amazing voices.

Sinead O'Connor, you talented lovely human being. I still can't believe you are gone. I never thought you were crazy. It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society - Sinead O'Connor, 2021.
She was so real!! No BS, thank you very much! I truly hope you are at peace Sinead🙏🙌🏼💖💖💖🎼🎶🎶🎶
"Are you all right?" as an opening question on a chat show is really quite daft when you think about, especially when it's been asked so many times to this person.
She was ahead of us in Ireland. As Catholics it was hard for some to come to terms with paedophilia. She felt it and said it as it was. We should have listened and understood.
Lovely , bold and beautiful sinead . Graham norton gets on my flamin nerves . God bless sinead and her family who loved her for who she was .REAL .
I've seen so many "judgement" type comments thrown toward Sinead, do you guys know that she's battling fibromyalgia? Let her be, she's enduring enough pain.. she's definitely original and unique NOT weird mofos

Let that be a lesson to all you plopheads out there.
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society"
One of the only times I've ever seen Graham truly fuck up, and I hope he learnt from that experience.
Is Graham Norton so dense as to ask "are you alright" in front of a camera instead of in private after the show ? You bet he is.
Sinéad was not crazy. "It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society"

She’s so beautiful inside and out ❤️❤️
The least they could have done is bought the effing cd, the real one. She's right to call em out on their b.s. And right to call him out on the "how are you question". If only people were real and genuine. Vale Sinead ❤
Yeah showbiz people can be the worst in attacking people in interviews news paper papperazi etc
Discusting
She was speaking from her heart, often when we speak from this place, people can become uncomfortable and intolerant.
Yes indeed. Often people are just used to living in denial or they've been taught to be overly polite in such a way they never get to express themselves completely free.
She was so funny, just a joy to watch. May you rest in eternal peace Sinead 😢❤
She is a true humane intelligent legend!!!
She will forever be missed
That was technically quite an inappropriate question from Graham. Good for her for arguing with him. He patronised her
Love and miss her
she comes off as such a down to earth, funny and sweet person. So sad that she's become such an unhappy person. We always think of bipolar people as weird, dangerous, aggressive people, but honestly, the actual feeling of being bipolar must be horrible. Praying for you, Sinead!
We are all at war with who we want to be, and who others want us to be.
She is just far too authentic...❤
i LOOOOVE this lady. Her voice, AAAAAAND telling us all how fucking sick the Catholic Churches are!!!! She knew she would jeopardize her career and she still did it!!!!!

I think we already know the answer. She is totally and utterly vindicated, and has been for years. Her voice never dampened and her desire for truth and spiritual enlightenment were always in the front of her mind. The music was just the expression of both.
