They are keeping up with 2 DC LVL4 12’s in a custom box from cherry man customs.
Off topic question/video request: Wondering how to put together a brazilian style audio system. Maybe a “How to” video/tutorial on this type of system?
I currently have the LC2i installed just for a 12" sub in my 06 Lexus GS300. I tapped into the subwoofer channel of the oem amp to feed the signal to run this LC2i that goes into the 3k mono block amp. I just purchased 2 sets of components to replace what i have in the car now with a matching amplifier. My factory system has 4 6.5" mid-bass in the doors (rear doors have additional 1" tweeter each). dash has 1 3" center speaker, 2 2.5" or 3" full range and 2 1" tweeters. rear deck has 2 3" full range and used to have a 10" sub but i replaced that with a 12" in a proted box ( Thanks to CAF for the design of my ported enclosure!). what id like to know is what will i need to do to be able to add my 2 new sets of components (4 6.5" midrange/midbass and 4 1" tweeters) with amp to my system? i dont care about the other speakers in the car. Center and 3" full range will be removed . Also not really looking to go with the dsp. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. .... Forgot to mention that my new mids and highs amp has built in OEM line converters up to 9v.
Hi Mark, I have a factory unit with 4 speakers (no premium sound), don't want to replace it, yet I want to add a powered subwoofer (Cerwin-Vega VPAS12ST). Which Audio Control LOC do I need? Do I really have to install an amp if I am replacing the factory speakers with component speakers? Can you please advice? Best regards.
Also, unless it has the additional features you talked about that these AudioControl ones do, buying a LOC is usually a waste of money since most amps sold these days have built-in basic LOCs.
We have equipped your LC7i with an AutoMode feature that is designed to feed signal to the channel 3 section when the factory system only has front and rear outputs. AutoMode takes the channel 2 (rear) input signal and automatically feeds it to the channel 3 outputs to drive a subwoofer amp and crossover. This means your LC7i will accept two input channels (say, front and rear) and give you three output channels (front, rear, and sub). does a DSP do this???????
One of trucks is new and I'm just adding some subs so I'm just using a pac loc, but my older truck use to be an spl vehicle an I'm thinking of going back and redoing it. This time with a dsp.
@@devinwright1467 it sounds plenty find with just the fix, but the twk allows for fine tuning, time alignment...basically anything and everything I could ever want. The twk is my dsp, the fix is more of a line out converter on steroids...together they make a harmonious union. The twk just picks up where the fix stops
So how would you use these devices in an 07 Mustang with a Shaker 1000? There are 2 6x8's and 2 8" 1.6 ohm DVC Subs in the doors, 2 6x8's in the rear deck and 2 10" 4ohm DVC Subs in the trunk. I've chosen a selection of speakers (whether they are right or not...). How could I use these devices to improve the audio without buying replacement amps? And which device would be best? It seems the DSP installed before the AMP's as there are two is the right choice.
Great explanation of these devises. Would you pass or buy on a used $90 lc7i ,I think it's a great deal but how can I go about testing it before I grab it
Great video. Sir, I have 2 questions 1. What is difference in output of active and passive LoC's. 2. My car amplifier has 5 pins in high level input where centre one is for ground. What to do with that gnd marked pin? Can I just connect with power input where 12v ,rem and gnd wires are?
@@GurnamSinghchannel, all I can tell you is, a processor is the way to go. You can get a processor for about the same price as a LOC. Some amps have LOC's built in them. As to your question Active is always better than passive because it doesn't affect the signal. Passive pulls power from the signal. Thus affecting the signal, it might be just as small amount, passive weakens the signal.
Great video! Answers many of my questions in a clear, understandable way as I’m researching the two options. Thank you! A question: If I want a little EQ adjustment in the LOC format then would the DQ-61 would be a nice middle ground between an active LOC and the DSP?
I had to use dsp. Right now have T4 components running active. I realized that I didn’t like the passive crossovers set points. Right now I have a dsr1 but saving for a bitONE HD
I have 2 questions, I will be installing my LC7i here in a week or so once I figure out the wiring of my 16 outback w/ harmon kardon system. What will I run into when it comes to splicing my high, mids and lowes, but leaving them connected to the factory speakers? Any degradation to the stock speakers? Will I have level issues through the LOC? 2nd since there is only summing on the first channel, should I still connect to the sub channel for accubass even though the amp will not be getting the full range signal from the the LOC? Or can i splice in mids to the sub line to help with that? OK A 3RD! I noticed the LC7i RCA output voltage is rated higher than the input voltage for the RCA on my 1200.1 kicker amp. Is that an issue? I never knew that was a thing until I learned passive LOC have a low voltage which limits the amps ability to push a good signal to the sub which is why I started looking at active LOC's in the first place. I dont want to destroy my new amp. As much as I want to upgrade all the speakers, the budget is limited, so I went with the LC7i until I get further into the build and it's a great starting point for my 2016 outback with the harmon kardon amp I think. But as you can tell, it leaves me with worrying about the levels of the input since they are all set to the HK equalizer. I want the best sounding system I can have currently and that means getting my JL Tw5v2 to sound the best it can with this current configuration. Thanks!!
How did you go installing the LC7i? Based on my experience with a 15 WRX STI with premium audio, you could probably just connect the unit in parallel with the midbass drivers for the purpose of adding your own sub since the head unit doesn't seem to high pass the door speakers. Actually I couldn't believe how bad the standard tune on the premium audio system is. Not even a way to control the sub level independently.
So I need your opinion I have a CLS and i blew out my stock Mids and highs I have my factory head unit. The guy who owned the car before me had 3 amps I guess 1 for highs 1 for Mids and a mono for the sub. It was installed by al&eds in California. I have 1 12” l7 kicker with a Orion 1500.1 amp. Should I just get 1 more amp and not 2 for the Mids and highs ? I believe I have 6.5 in all 4 doors and 1 tweeter in the front doors . I know it’s called logic 7 for Benz stock speakers. I believe there is a speaker in the dash and 1 sub 6x9 in the back. I lesson to rap and heavy metal mostly. What do I need out of the 3 you are showing in this video? Thank you for your knowledge and videos.
What about a dac what's your take on it . For some of us we have 5 to 10 k in our sound systems in our cars should we instal a dac to the mi so we can better take advantage of tidal

Can I use an analog to optical converter from head unit to dsp to try an eliminate rca noise? I'd use the ADC at the head unit RCA and run a toslink cable to the DSP then RCAs from the DSP to the amp. Have slight static and whine that I have not been able to resolve after years of checking grounds, and replacing components along the way. I've tried every other remedy known to car audio except for powering the head unit directly off the battery.
What would be the best option to add a sub and amp to a 2024 Mustang EB 9 speaker system with a factory amp? I have amp, sub, box, and amp kit from previous vehicle
Hello-I have a 2017 F150 with the non Sony Sync3 system. I'm thinking of adding a 50x4 Prime amp to my factory door speakers and a JL microsub powered by another Prime mono amp. I plan on keeping my factory HU. Will the LCQi be what I need to get a nice clear well balanced sound stage and retain all of my functions and door chimes back sensor etc?
So when using a DSP what's the advantage of using an a2b interface like the zen? It seems like I see systems with either a LOC and aftermarket amp or I see a Zen a2b with a DSP and an aftermarket amp.
I have a aftermarket radio and the problem that I’m having is that I have a amp hooked up to it how ever I did the plug and play but I think I have a factory amp that’s still hooked do I still use LC2i to work through the factory amp
I've got a couple classic imports with factory Clarion cassette stereos that still work and i'd really like to add a bluetooth functionality. I like that the LC8i has a aux input available but it would really be sweet if they offered a LOC with integrated bluetooth so i didn't have to run a separate BT receiver. Thanks so much for the explanations.
Hi Great channel. I have a quick question. I have a 2017 Ford Fiesta with a factory radio that doesn't play flac files , however I do have a Audison Bit 10 and Hertz Dieci splits which gives the car good sound quality, do I still need to install an aftermarket radio to play flac files or do I rely solely on the DSP to provide all the sound quality that I need? Thanks.
I added a Under Seat Amp to my Goldwing GL1800 and it doesn't sound as good as it should/could. When you increase the volume the Bass decreases so you don't really get any Bass out of the sub. Is this a situation where a DSP would benefit me better than a Line Output? I don't want/expect the sub to hammer but it almost sounds like the factory speakers on caffeine instead of a double shot of Expresso.
Question. I have been looking at Alpine's PXE-0850X DSP. I can't seem to find anything about bass roll off correction in their Manual. Does this Mean I need to have one of Audio Controls LOC's hooked up first? Also, I ready somewhere that you tune DSP's at a certain volume. Does that mean that you can't use the Volume control on the head unit anymore and have to get another volume control knob?
I have a question. I am planning on putting in an aftermarket amp and subwoofer as the stock one isn’t that great. I have 2 tweeters, 2 midrange speakers and a subwoofer in my cars rear deck. Which should I tap into for the input on a line output converter? Should I use all 3? Or would the signal going to the factory sub be enough.
Thank you for the video. I have an old school DSP/Epicenter, made a huge difference. Looking to add a 5 channel Infinity amp to a Bose factory system. It has HLI and says crossovers built in. Is it still better to run the LC7 and RCA/LLI, or are their HLIs just as good direct ? Thank you

Can I use the jl loc to connect both amps?? It's all going in a ford edge. It has a factory Sony system with amp in the trunk.
can you split a rca signal coming out of a dsp? if it has 10 channels out, but i have 3 4 channel amps for an active 3way setup, but splitting the rca would that impact time alignment and tune capabilities for the split or shared signal?
in a pinch here, i have a 14 ram keeping factory head unit, the system has 6 speakers non premium, the two fronts are chained together, there is no factory sub or amp, my question is if i want to drive a sub channel will a DSP function like the lc7i and create a sub output if there is no sub in put from the speaker level.
Awesome video. Liked and subscribed. Based on your video, I think I need a DSP instead of a LOC. Can you confirm? I have a convertible Mustang with an aftermarket sub powered by its own amp, and I have 8 speakers that I upgraded to Morel and they have their own amp. Thank You!
I have an Acura MDX. on my LC7i, I put my 3 sources as the tweeter, rear door speakers (I figured that these are more full range), and then the subwoofer channel. It still seems bright and it seems to be lacking in the lowest bass. Would I be better off doing tweeter, front door (Mid range only) and sub so that I can control each of the three better? Also, any tips on the bass. It seems that Acura may roll off the lower bass and the accubass is not quite making up for it.

I would have thought by now (i'm 29 started with car audio early 90s) that we would be runnning fiber optic or the optical at least .. thanks for the video.. first install where I actually wanted to use stock radio on 2018 car
Neither just get you a high end Alpine with built in everything and a DSP and call it a day that’s what I did and I love it 3 way active is where it’s at. I’m loud yet still sound amazing at half volume, benefits of huge power being used sparingly everything is run easy so no distortion. I’m running focal KRX2 61/2’s the last generation not the newest ones off a DC audio 175.4@2 ohm so 250watts a channel or more lol 😂. Been going strong for 3 year but I do got the gain on channels 1-2 for the tweets turned to zero but it’s still loud. Now the mids are taking the whole 250 watts and loving it, amazing woofer. They are keeping up with 2 DC LVL4 12’s in a custom box from cherry man customs.
Currently have lc7i in my 08 Acura TSX. But I also just picked up the JLAUDIO Fix 86! So debating on installing that.
another tremendous CAF video. very helpful and well-done.
Off topic question/video request: Wondering how to put together a brazilian style audio system. Maybe a “How to” video/tutorial on this type of system?
Phase 1 - LOC just to get in some emergency bass. Phase 2 - DSP when ready to rewire everything.
With the LC7i if you have components that have a passive crossover can you do front, rear and sub?
Yes you could set up for that configuration
CarAudioFabrication how
I currently have the LC2i installed just for a 12" sub in my 06 Lexus GS300.
This really helped! Thanks for the knowledge!
Hi great channel quick question how do I install a equalizer (Clarion ESQ755) with either lC2i or LC7 and do I even need an equalizer
Did u ever find out? I want to know that also.
Also, unless it has the additional features you talked about that these AudioControl ones do, buying a LOC is usually a waste of money since most amps sold these days have built-in basic LOCs.
ARC AUDIO PS8PRO and HELIX DSPs are amongst the best available.
man you're carrying the car audio industry on your back
That’s the truth!
The LC2 pro looks pretty sweet!
I currently have the Mosconi 6to8 v8 but am switching to the 6to8 Aerospace on Friday.
We have equipped your LC7i with an AutoMode feature that is
designed to feed signal to the channel 3 section when the factory
system only has front and rear outputs. AutoMode takes the channel 2 (rear) input signal and automatically feeds it to the channel 3
outputs to drive a subwoofer amp and crossover. This means your
LC7i will accept two input channels (say, front and rear) and give
you three output channels (front, rear, and sub). does a DSP do this???????
One of trucks is new and I'm just adding some subs so I'm just using a pac loc, but my older truck use to be an spl vehicle an I'm thinking of going back and redoing it. This time with a dsp.
I'm running the jl fix and the jl twk. Love those things!!!
Why do you need both. How would just the JL fix sound without the JL twk.
Sir, I have 2 questions
1. What is difference in output of active and passive LoC's.
2. My car amplifier has 5 pins in high level input where centre one is for ground. What to do with that gnd marked pin? Can I just connect with power input where 12v ,rem and gnd wires are?
Difference between active and passive, active requires electricity and passive doesn't. Not sure about your other question, need more info.
@@jeffpaulene what is difference in output and sound quality of active and passive LoC's?
@@GurnamSinghchannel, all I can tell you is, a processor is the way to go. You can get a processor for about the same price as a LOC. Some amps have LOC's built in them. As to your question Active is always better than passive because it doesn't affect the signal. Passive pulls power from the signal. Thus affecting the signal, it might be just as small amount, passive weakens the signal.
@@jeffpaulene now I understand. Thank you so much
Great video!
I have a bluetooth receiver give rca signals to the ampflier on my 15 outback.Because I think a high-low
converter degrade the quality of sound a lot.
I run a Hertz h8 dsp in my car. Using time allignment and crossovers :)
I'm running a LC7i to an epicenter to my mamo amp and a 4ch JL amp
What about a dac what's your take on it . For some of us we have 5 to 10 k in our sound systems in our cars should we instal a dac to the mi so we can better take advantage of tidal
When I first watch I went searching for the DM-810 (Because Mark said so lol) and a shop talk me out of and had me purchase a Rockford Fosgate DSR-1. I wished I never listen and purchased the DM-810. I hate this DSR1, no one know how to work it, Rockford Fosgate customer service was unhelpful. Refer me to one of it sellers which again they do know or don't do. So the DM-810 is on the Christmas list
Hello man I really enjoy you knowledge about car audio..I have a question I have 2014 Honda Accord sport ..I'm keeping my factory head unit but I'm replacing my 4 stock speakers and I have a four channel amp for them ..and I have a two channel mono amp for my subs ..will this dsp would be good for my set up ..thanks
Thanks, bro.
U just saved me a ton of money.
I use a Mosconi 6to8v8 DSP. Have thought about going to the AC 8-10 unit though.
Is there any benefit of using both? Dsp and loc?
Go purchase an AudioControl D-6.1200, and you can power your whole system. You will need to order a BT24, but you will be amazed by what you get.
Hi
Great channel.
When using the LC7i will the fade and balance feature still work from your factory stereo?
If you wire correctly yes
Thank you for the video. I have an old school DSP/Epicenter, made a huge difference.
Looking to add a 5 channel Infinity amp to a Bose factory system. It has HLI and says crossovers built in.
Is it still better to run the LC7 and RCA/LLI, or are their HLIs just as good direct ?
Thank you
Hi. I'm just getting started to install a system in my car. I have 2 alpine r12s, 1 fosgate 850.2 amp, 1 Us Amps 150 , 1 db drive 5 neo capacitor and 1 jl audio loc 22.
Are these good products?
Can I use the jl loc to connect both amps??
It's all going in a ford edge. It has a factory Sony system with amp in the trunk.
can you split a rca signal coming out of a dsp? if it has 10 channels out, but i have 3 4 channel amps for an active 3way setup, but splitting the rca would that impact time alignment and tune capabilities for the split or shared signal?
in a pinch here, i have a 14 ram keeping factory head unit, the system has 6 speakers non premium, the two fronts are chained together, there is no factory sub or amp, my question is if i want to
drive a sub channel will a DSP function like the lc7i and create a sub output if there is no sub in put from the speaker level.
Just installed my Lc7I. Used your wire ferrule suggestion. I feel so refined lol
I have a PAC AmPro in my Hellcat because of its plug a play integration.
Hi Mark, would I still need a LOC, if I have a DSP? ie, Does the DSP cover all the functionality of LOC? Thanks!!
