Yeah. People forget that this was supposed to be the literal end of the series and as much as people like to crap on GT, GT at least tried to link it to the ending of DBZ. Supers didnt even bothered with it. I believe that this ending is no longer canon and is probably retconned in Supers.

He does like his friends, he does love his family. But the truth is that he knows when he is needed and when he isn't needed. It’s still the worst possible ending for the Dragon Ball saga. Goku literally abandons his whole family just to train a stranger with the sole purpose of wanting to fight with him while he has since all this time Vegeta who is waiting for that, to fight 100% against Goku so much that it has become a running gag. The icing on the cake is that they have always participated seriously in martial arts tournaments and here, Goku does not hesitate to abandon it along the way without thinking for a single second about the consequences of this abandonment: he is an extremely popular and recognized participant from around the world thanks to his power and the fact that the tournaments where he participates always prove to be the best. Or how to disappoint thousands of fans who came to see this tournament to live such epic fights. Seriously, Goku, you could have at least made the effort to wait until the end of the tournament, lmao.
