toriyama said he didn't feel like he could write gohan as the main character, maybe because he's not as proactive as goku, maybe because he'd been writing goku for years, i guess we'll never know for sure now

it's pretty close though, closer than ssj3 for sure. i think ssj1 is pretty 1:1 with the anime unless you just love to glaze faulconer. still i think reading the manga or watching the anime is the best way to experience it, kakarot cuts some things out like vegeta's final flash or goku giving the senzu to cell so it's not quite all there

Only after he felt the difference in power that he started to get dispirited. That is, for me, far better that Gohan's depiction in other media. This game was showing that Gohan still have fighting spirit and intelect / instinct to fight. But yeah, showing that little steps forward could make the scene better
Mr. Satan is such a clutch and great character. As a kid, I had absolutely no appreciation for him. I thought he was just a valor stealing goof-ball fraud and coward. Now I realize he didn't only EARN his title of champion, but he's a good father to both his biological daughter and his adopted son (buu), and he also has a good heart and didn't back down when it mattered most in the face of universe destroying threats as a mere human.

i feel a lot of people miss this bit of symbolism in this scene. Gokus first time using his rage as a kid was over a similar android that he befriended. Now fast forward to now with Gohan.
It's even more notable because Gohan personally doesn't know 16. People accuses this as poor writing because they think a character needs to personally know others to empathize, but they completely forget what sort of character Gohan is. Not only Gohan's kind and caring, but he's also seen people dying over and over again his entire life while he's too weak to do anything. He's already at the breaking point with Cell Jr's, so seeing another pure soul killed right in front of him is more than enough to send him over the edge.
It doesn't really come across in the subtitle, but I recall Seru explaining long ago that while he had witnessed Goku's Instantaneous Movement before, he wasn't able to learn it until he experienced it firsthand, thanks to Goku.
When I see that a lot of Hologirls didn´t watch Dragonball Z I have mixed feelings. On one side, their reactions are really entertaining, on the other... damn I feel old.
Should watch Anime version because the violance makes the scene more impact to audiences. Gohan didnt one punch Cell Jr. He punch through them, chop them into half. The modern games must limits violance to suitable for more audiences
Kind of a letdown with the censorship. in the original, Gohan was literally exploding the heads of the Cell Jrs with a single punch. Eyeballs and brains and skull fragments going flying. Instead, they're just getting "knocked out" here
