23:27 YES!!! I discovered this point while restyling my After Five Barbie's ponytail recently. I used to restyle my dolls' ponytails immediately after rinsing their hair. It's easier to do it on dry doll hair!
They all turned out beautifully! That raven ponytail is stunning though 😍I can see why you'd want to keep her. 100% here for the Patreon. I get my greenproof earrings from a seller for a really fair price, but being able to make them as and when I need them would be a lot more convenient.
Great video! They all turned out beautifully! I’m glad you mentioned the fabric softener trick that so many “restorers” have said to use. I used it on my dolls and you’re absolutely right about the drawbacks of the smell and stickiness! Now I just use conditioner. So excited about what you have next for us! 😃💖
Yes! Thank you! ☺️ see some dolls I’ve done it with great results but some dolls I’ve done it to, I just end up having to wash them again because it’s gross lol 😂 so conditioner only for me too!
We all love love love your videos, so don’t ever second-guess keep making them please please please. I still can’t wait to see you do a brunette Marlo flip mod Barbie.
I’m so glad to find your channel! Your videos are just pure perfection - I’m learning so much new tricks and methods, and the great entertaining value of your truly awesome editing is like pure gold. Fabulous job with your great doll restoration works and creating a wonderful videos💕🩷✌️
Hello Dakota!!!! Thank you for clearing up the Sun Lovin Malibu PJ for me, I got this one new in box from an antique store and when I did a review on her everyone including myself was confused because she had the Super Star Barbie face mold! Thank You again!
I cannot believe I put my sad Sun Lovin Malibu PJ in the "Free" box at my yard sale a few weeks ago. 😭 She looked just like yours. I thought she was beyond hope. Well. I've certainly learned my lesson!!!
I have the Barbie-face Sun Lovin' Malibu P.J. variant in the box, you did a great job making her look new again. And yes, that #4 is definitely a showstopper, she would be the doll I would keep from this group as well.
What a fabulous video! I just love these restoration videos you make. Love your kitty sitting up on the back of the couch. She looks just like my Misty kitty who lived to be over 23 years old! Loving all the adorable fashions you put on the dolls and wow I can't believe the swirl reroots. OMG such a good job then whammy at the end, that outfit for PJ. I have that outfit that I thrifted but it did not have the tie part that goes around the neck. I couldn't figure out how on earth a doll could wear it, but now I see mine is missing the tie. See, I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. Thanks ever so much for sharing!
Aww thank you so much!!:) this kitties name is Sassy lashes, and she’s 18 lol I have been looking for that best buy outfit for a while, and it’s been quite the experience to find that tie still intact. I love the colors, they’re so much fun. I can’t wait to put it on my superstar Christie.
You are a freaking rock star⭐️ I would love to be able to do what you do! The way you bring new life into your dolls is just so inspiring and beautiful and I thank you for sharing your knowledge with us❣️❣️
Such a great video!! I love your tutorials because you take the intimidation factor out of restoring dolls on my own. Ive been able to restore my 3 Midge dolls and they turned out awesome
Great Job, super gorgeous!!!!! Especially the No 4 Ponytail. Can you tell me something about the superglue? Is it like the normal supergkue weich will turned in a Stoff and hard condition or will it keep soft and elastic? Thanks for the tutorials!!!!! Love it! Rolf
What a treat this video is! I love vintage Barbie! You did such a wonderful job on all these dolls, they really do look so much better! I have to say I also really like the number 4 ponytail haha. The earring idea is cool as well, I avoid earrings because green ear is scary lol. Your videos are so appreciated and loved, it means a lot you come to share with us even though you have a crazy schedule!
Wow!! That Malibu PJ (I collect PJs!) is a revelation!! I had no idea that there was this variant!! Gorgeous!! Love your restorations I’ve only just discovered your channel and have now subscribed! 🤩🩷
Omg the mommy dearest clip killed me im in tears over this video I needed this restoration today and your amazing work and sense of humor 😅 keep these videos going I have a few dolls that need to be restored but haven’t gotten around to them but this is getting me started on them, I have that Francie doll and that pj as well
Totally agree with you there are barbie lines back in the 90s richwell Philippines manufacturer of barbie recycled their barbie parts and accessories and released in different lines of Barbies back then.
Recycling is a smart idea on paper. But sometimes when it comes to mixing old plastics with new batches of plastic, the result is left to be desired overtime.
Thank you for the vintage Barbie restoration tips!! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge!! I need all the help and advice when re-doing Barbie lips!!😖😖😖😵💫🥴…
Could you do a specific video on painting ponytail lips and brows? Those are the hardest bits to get right. Also which brushes you use for the job. I love no. 5 as she's the first one I got, but I really want a 3.
I've been around long enough that I have actual experience with what can happen over time when you use things like fabric softener or cleaners not made for dolls on hair or vintage vinyl. Some of my dolls spent years in storage, some in their vinyl cases (don't do it) and some in cardboard boxes surrounded by clothes and accessories. Stored in a place where the temperature fluctuated with the seasons, I think heat made the things that went wrong go wrong faster and harder. Some dolls came out stained by the dye from their clothes. I suspect that it was fabric softener that made the dye bleed, since the color transfer only happened to the fabric softened hair and not the vinyl body. I also had a couple of bubble cuts that were stored lying flat in the box. Where their hair rested on the cardboard, it became matted to the extent that it looked almost melted. The hair was also very sticky. Both needed a reroot and from the scent of them, they had been given the fabric softener treatment some time in the 70's. I also have noticed that clothes treated with fabric softener seem to attract and hold dirt easier than those that are washed without. My motto now is gentle is best so I use the least amount of chemicals I can get away with but that's just me.
Awesome video as per usual! I needed something to watch while I rerooted and chose this one as I saw the cousin of the doll I was rerooting! Although I think the doll I have is actually Disco Barbie as she doesn't have the tan line but they are basically the same doll 😂🤷🏼♂ You are right about her being PJ! I used to have one NRFB too. She is quite a pretty doll. Thanks for another satisfying restoration video! Oh! And Francie is so cure too 😍😍😍
Awww I watch your videos ALL the time when I’m working on dolls. I never get tired of your videos and reviews. I love your opinions on things because you have the same thoughts as me when it comes to quality. Maybe it’s because we can sew and design and can be the right amount of critical? I’m not sure. I just always loved your content so thank you haha ☺️☺️💜 I’d love to get a pj with superstar arms. I almost got one but I let her slide.
@@disneybarbiegirl615 Aww! ❤😊You are so sweet. I could get tired of them though 😂 Actually, that could be it! There are a few things I think Mattel has done well and I wouldn't waste my time sewing my own. Oh! I remember wanting that bent arm PJ for the longest time! I gave up years ago though. She's gorgeous though. It's so odd she has hard legs though 😂🤷🏼♂
Your work is amazing! Thank you so much for your videos! Have you ever worked on removing green ear and recoloring a Casey doll after her skin turns a ghastly yellowish green color?
GREAT WORK!! I'd love for you to go a little more in-depth on changing a bubble to a swirl. You don't knot the hair when you are rooting it? I too don't use fabric softener. I get a gallon of Tres Eme conditioner at Walmart and it lasts forever, lol.
Dang i was literally thinking of this channel like a minute ago 😂😂😂😂 i was like dang i want to see a dakota video and to my surprise you uploaded one 😂😂😂
You are extremely talented!! Thanks for sharing your tips. I still have my Franci. I need to finish her reroot. Do you have any tips for sticky vinyl heads. I have a 1960s era Skipper. Her head has gotten sticky over the years.
Love love I MEAN LOVE every restoration you do … Basically every video you do I love it ❤… just wanted to know could you also put in your patreon how you fixed the legs on the American girl Barbie ? And how to reroot to turn a bubble cut in To a swirl? Thank you so much. Oh or you can have those videos here under the memberships ( it’s like patreon but from TH-cam) since you are busy ? I missed the part how you traded out your AG doll's leg. I have one with both "noodle" legs. There are no vinyl splits in her legs. Just broken. What legs did you use to be a donor?
It is but I wouldn’t recommend it. The heads weren’t made with a pivotal joint, so they won’t sit right on the body. So they’ll just sit rather than shape to the neck like modern Barbie’s. A living Barbie from 1970 would work however.
I've watched all of your restoration videos and I don't remember seeing one that shows you removing and replacing doll legs... but then my memory isn't the best. You didn't show that in this restoration video either so I was wondering if you would consider doing a video on limb and body replacements.

Yes! I personally don’t like to use markers. It leaves things streaky most times and also get sticky/tacky. And I don’t like that feeling. They also fade with like a month or so. It’s not my favorite method personally.
Hey...My Scene dolls..I did already have a decent thrifted Chelsea, & so I just got Barbie, so Chelsea had a friend. Maybe I'll grab Madison on sale if that happens. But I'm not a fan of Barbie's partially crimped hair. It seems when they crimp saran, it feels burned. It's not soft, & it's dry. I let just the hair sit in a bowl of just boiled water, thinking it would straighten & soften it, but didn't do a thing. So, I'll probably just leave it. Maybe do a conditioner rinse. Not a huge deal, just crimped hair isn't my preference, but it's ok. Her outfit is pretty nice. I think $40 is a little much, but oh well. That's why I just got one. They have boring make up. Yesss she looks great in a bun too! Her long formals look great on her, but with a bun BOOM. Miss sophisticate!

@ hi i sent you a message on ig, it’s about my swirl ponytail, really confused on what to do with that
I love your videos. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Do you have any experience with using copic markers to fix yellow faces? Any opinions?

Please tell how you attached the bun, it is not clear in the video. Thank you!
By a pin
Also, please let us know when you are accepting new restoration clients, I have some vintage girls that need your magic touch!
I wonder if people popping their free moving barbie heads off and onto a standard TNT body was a common thing, because mine had the same thing!
The mechanism was a cool concept, but the body’s can be fragile and get melt marks and all that.
Quick question, did you do a total reroot with all the holes for the swirltail barbie heads ?
Just a reroot to be like a swirl, they weren’t rooted all over. They’re just a ring of hair and bangs. If that makes sense.
@@disneybarbiegirl615 YES, thank you SO MUCH!
