@MaggieToTheRescue Maggie gives her support to a vintage Crissy doll who needs help getting her hair and eyes back to their former glory. There was one bump in the road but ultimately it leads to a STUNNING result!
I'm 57, and that whole family of dolls was so madly popular when I was little ... very pleasant to see them again, and to see one brought back to life.
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! 💕
I got one for Christmas when I was 9 and had her until I was 16 or so. Gifted to my little cousin ❤
I had Velvet passed down to me by my sister. Wish I knew what happened to her!
If Chrissy’s little girl could see her now she’d be so happy at how pretty her makeover is!
So true! 😘
This just amazing. I had Chrissy Dolls when I was 8..wow
Aw! So fun. They were such a pretty doll line.
Wow ❤ Shes gorgeous 😍
Thank you!! 💕
I love the triumphant hair music when the long ponytail is smoothed out. I wish I still had my Velvet doll. I'd have given her hair this treatment
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing knowledge!
Thanks for watching! 💕
Gorgeous restoration! The foil around the hair is a great idea! Sometimes they have to have their head removed, so this is good to know ❤
@@VinDollTique63 Thank you! 🥰
Love it
Thank you! 💕
Wunderschöne Arbeit, die sicher viel Geduld gefordert hat👍👍👍Sehr schön ist das Haar geworden..
That's so sweet. Thank you! And thanks for watching! 💕
@@MaggieToTheRescue Vielen Dank liebe Maggie…❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
Hi there! I got A Chrissy at a garage sale, with better hair but without the cute original dress. She also had the fungus in her eyes. Thanks to Maggie my Chrissy has clear eyes now too.
That's fantastic! Makes me so happy. I hope you can find her original dress or something like it!Congrats on your garage sale score! Thanks for sharing! 💕
this is so satisfying to watch
Thank you!💕
She’s beautiful ❤thanks for helping her 😊
Thank you! 💕
I’m 61 just bought a velvet off eBay going to restore ! Thanks for the tips !
@@geethebirdnerd That's fantastic! Lmk how she comes out! I found another Crissy AND a Velvet at my local thrift shop. It was a great day! 😊
Aluminum foil...genius! I had a Shirley Temple doll with cloudy eye, I made a paper cone, placed it over the eye (keeping the eyelashes outside of the cone), at a very low setting used a blow dryer checking the eye every few minutes. It worked! (Try at your own risk) Cloudy eye is actually a fungus. But I like the denture cleaner, that method may work for other things as well. Oh and also drying the clothes on a bottle great tip!
Thank you!! The next doll I have with cloudy eyes on the interior I am going to experiment with the paper cone & blow dryer!
It was amazing to see the eyes coming back. Glad you shared the lesson of not removing the head with us. Yikes 😮😊
Thank you and thanks for watching! 💕
These videos have been very helpful. Fun to watch too!
Thank you!
New to your channel and just subscribed . You must have the patience of a saint, Crissy is beautiful. I am also a doll lover and always feel glad when some one takes the time to bring one back from the brink, love your work!
Thank you!! That means a lot. Welcome to the channel! 💕
Omg Loved Your video what kind of doll is maggie and Chrissy what makes dolls get covered in mold you did an amazing job keep up the good work Blessings
Thank you so much! 💕 Maggie is just a little generic doll I've had for years. My guess is the mold is from being in a moist environment. Often dolls kept in basements will get moldy. Thanks again, so glad you enjoyed it!
So glad you got it sorted you did it all the correct way as i always say the more time you put in the better the results wide tooth come and go at it in sections slowly never pulling never ripping that only makes it worse tlc and it can really help
Thank you! Yes, patience is definitely the key! 💕
OMG I have two american girl dolls with the same hair condition and i have never found a video that can fix my case due to how badly damaged the dolls hair was until i found this video!
Thank you so much but i remember that my dolls hair was water damaged so i am a bit hesitant to try this but since i saw my doll's hair is similar to your and you said it can't get worse i will try it!
Thank you for letting me know it worked!! Yes, we might as well try if it can't get worse. 😄 💕
That reminds me of the Crissy doll l had as a girl. My sister had her sister
She’s soo pretty
I remember my cousins and me getting this beautiful doll for Christmas 🎄 ❤😊
Aw, I love that!! 💕
You did such a lovely job for this "older lady"! Thank you for posting your techniques! You give me hope for my own Crissy.
Thank you for watching! 💕 Good luck with your Crissy. Let us know how it goes.
I love the production style of your videos. This kind of video hits that sweet, nostalgic spot so many of us have for our childhood dollies. I kept thinking "How in the world will she get the hair back through the head?" Genius! Love love love!
Thank you so much!! That means a lot. 💕
I know hindsight is 20/20 but for a future project you may consider adding a step. After detangling shampooing and. Conditioning. Do a final rinse with boiling hot water and give it another good comb with your metal brush while it’s still wet.. This will prevent the hair stiffness. Also dipping the head in boiling water works a lot better than a heating tool to help make the plastic more malleable. This was a great job she looks amazing
Yes! I love a boil wash. I was afraid to try it on Crissy hair, but if you know it's safe, I'd love to give it a try! I still have her. Thanks for your advice and for watching! 💕
I use a wire wig brush - it does the job and a toothbrush to smoothen it out
This gives me hope. I found my Chrissy in my mum’s garage. I hope I didn’t eventually throw her out. She has the same cloudy eyes.
Aw, I hope you find her! Good luck! 💕
It is so satisfying to restore a doll like this. Well done! The Crissy dolls have amazing hair! I had a Crissy doll as a kid and of course I had to add one to my collection as an adult collector. Thank you for sharing your process. She turned out so nice!!💕
Thank you! 💕 So fun you had (and have) one! She's so pretty!
You did a beautiful job! Very very nice!!!!

Love from 🇺🇸🇧🇷
Lots more to come! Thank you! 💕
@@MaggieToTheRescue your welcome
Crissy is looking brand new! Beautiful job on her eyes, I had not seen that trick before. When I have a doll with damaged hair like Crissy's I add the step of dipping the hair in boiling water for a few seconds, then remove from the water and comb smooth. Since the hair is plastic it reacts well to the heat and the hair is smoother and shinier when finished. I've seen many doll restorers dip a doll's head in boiling water to soften it and make it more pliable to remove it from the body. I wonder if that may have worked with Crissy. I enjoyed the video and am a new subscriber.
Thanks for watching! And for the tips! I did a boil-wash on Barbie (in Belle & Barbie video) and loved it and I look forward to using it more in the future! I wasn't sure Crissy's hair type was ok for it, so that's good to know!! 💕
She’s super cute! And great idea with the foil! I have a Barbie Rapunzel doll with a similar hair growth mechanism so I might wanna try it out on her!😊
Thank you! Hope it works on your Rapunzel! Maybe keep her head on though. 😘 💕
That reminds me of the Crissy doll l had as a girl. My sister had the Velvet doll.
They were such pretty dolls!
This is awesome!!! Great job !
Thank you and thanks for watching!
I had a similar doll when i was little but blonde instead and less charming! i believe it was in 1987/88 and the doll was more child looking while the one you restored has beautiful adult features! you did such an awesome job without altering her original beauty!❤
Thank you! 💕 I wonder if your doll was a reissued Velvet (Crissy's blonde cousin)? Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely love your videos! I recently found you, and im soo surprised you dont have more subs! Your content is awesome, and the way you restore dolls is awesome too! Wish the best for you in the future.! 😁
So sweet! Thank you for saying that and for watching!! ❤️🩷
I just found this channel, loved the transformation!
Thank you!!💕
Muy linda la restauración! Quizás con agua caliente le quedaría más liso el cabello
Gracias! I was nervous to use hot water on her type of hair, but I might try in the future. 👍💕
remember she is an old lady like me
I know it sounds really weird but you should try furniture polish. It works great for synthetic wigs or hairpieces.
Wow! I never heard that before. Is it liquid? Tell us more when you get a chance! 💕
Just a regular spray, pledge, or any other kind of furniture polish, maybe even a wax of some sort, but I just used a non lemon, scented spray pledge
@@le1003ann So fascinating! I will give it a try! Thank you. ❤️
What a beautiful restoration 😊! Where did you learn your techniques? Thank you for giving dolls a second life ❤️🩹
Thank you! I'm always learning...through experimentation, old doll books, and others' tutorials! :) 💕
I have Crissy, Velvet and Cinnamon. My mom got them for me when I was a kid in the 70s. All 3 need makeovers, especially Crissy. Her hair is as bad as this one.
Aww! Crissy family! If you tackle Crissy's hair, lmk how it goes! 🤞
I give you tips on long hairs: I apply fabric softener on hair so heavy as it will loose tangles , put it in hot water and left it for few hours. Rinse it in water, comb it so smooth instead of struggling to straight out hairs. Short hair you trimmed, may be curled with small rollers to make it style.
Thanks for the tips! And thanks for watching! 💕
Baby oil works also
Oh, interesting! Thank you.🌸
I aml from the UK and had a Tressy doll which I loved, I had not heard of a Chrissy doll but I love her! Do you know if they were sold in the UK.?❤
That's a great question! I wasn't sure but according to this site she was! crissyandbeth.com/International.html
It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
That's fantastic!! Yaaaay!!!
You did a great job! How did she get fungus in her eye? (Doll "pink eye" LOL)
Thank you! 💕 I have a friend who calls that white mold/fungus "Crissy Cateracts." 😘
You should try to dip the hair in boiling water! That will soften it and remove the stiffness
My first boil wash was in the Belle and Barbie video! I'll definitely use it again in the future! Thanks! 💕
My sister had this doll when we were kids growing up.
My doll was a blonde with violet eyes😂
Your doll was Velvet, Crissy's cousin! :) 💕
When they say it's possessed with a hair grow and the truth is it was only Looped Inside Adjustment Gosh People Need To Actually Had These and it's sounds weird the fact that the lock is a giraffe and not actually related to the hair grow like what
Barbie prank at 9:12
Yes, like Oz behind the curtain! 😂 The crank makes the hair magic. Thanks for watching! 💕
I fixed the hair on a Crissy doll without taking her head off.
Yay! Congrats! 😘
I am curuios was the temp of the water super hot or just regular heat of was it like faucet temp?
Good question! To wash a doll, I only use cold or lukewarm water. But maybe I could have dipped her vinyl neck in hot water in order to get her plastic neck piece back on. Thanks for asking! 💕
Did you try dish soap? Works better then shampoo
Yes! Good tip. Lately I've only used eco friendly dish soap for the first wash. And then follow up with fabric softener. 👍🩷
Running water into her eyes can cause the mechanism to rust. It is not how Beth recommends cleaning them.
Hi! Thank you. I totally agree about water with lots of dolls! I'm learning to just use a baby wipe when possible. But in this case that awful fungus had to go. The denture cleaner was recommended by a professional doll restorer specifically for Crissy eye mold. It worked wonders. No scratches (like other methods can create). And I got 100% of the water out of her head. BUT that part I need to do without removing her head!
Why didn't you shampoo the dolls hair first.?
Hi! For Crissy I combined shampoo, conditioner, and fabric softener for her first wash, since her hair was so dry and damaged. You can try just shampoo first, if your doll's hair is in better shape. 👍 💕
Rubbing alcohol removes and kills eye fungus.
Thanks for the tip! I'm curious if you know what kinds of doll eyes it's best for? My eye doc said not to use alcohol on my plastic glasses lenses so I just translated that to doll eyes. But maybe that's different?
U were supposed to cut a bit of the tunnel off 😂
Omg that neck! 😆 Live and learn. 🤷♀️💕
