Okay hear me out: the swirl ponytail isn’t what I’d consider ruined by you, she was previously already ruined by her green ears/yellowing of the vinyl. You simply had to take away from an already ruined doll to make her look EXTREMELY better than what she did before. She’s not factory, she’s not what I’d consider a mint doll, but she is STILL a beautiful doll regardless of what she’s been through and a lot of people would still want her. More people would probably want her now (in my eyes) since she is displayable, so even tho she isn’t necessarily original anymore she still has a place if that makes sense. Let’s face it a lot of people would have probably just got rid of the head, maybe even thrown it in the trash cause it was so damaged. You turned what was an awful doll into something that’s a work of art and is still somewhat true to what she would have looked like. Wonderful job and I can’t wait for the next video!
This is such a great video! Even though the dolls turned greenish/pale it was really interesting to see the pastels make them look normal again. The swirl Barbie may be the most drastic restoration I have seen yet, she looks so much better!!! She looks like a complete different doll, it’s amazing!! This was a really nice video to watch, thank you for making this!!
OMIGOSH! This was so traumatising 😱😂 Green ear is NOT easy to remove. Everything I've tried has only substituted one form of damage for another. I gave up on it years ago and swore never to get a doll with green ever again but I broke that rule for New Midge. I love that you share these videos! I think it is important to show the good and bad side of things. That way people can make informed choices. Who knows, maybe someone actually wants a bleached faced doll also 🤷🏼♂ That swirls hair looks gorgeous! 😍 The pin in the head is not my thing though 😱 But as you say, you do you. It DID seem to make it much easier to style the hair though 🤷🏼♂😊❤
I think you did great! If I were to restore the green ears of the vinyl, I'm afraid it would be a huge disaster lol. And thank you for showing us how to do the swirl ponytail hairstyle:)
They both came out great! The same thing happened to me using the Barkeepers Friend with a heat lamp. I have a swirl that had green only on one side - the green was about a 1/4 of an inch in circumference. I Treated it for 5 days as opposed to 5 weeks or more using CLR! After I got most of the green out on the one ear- I cleaned off the BF then I dunked the head in denture cleaning solution for a day or 2 b/c I wanted to lighten the face a little. When I took the head out I noticed that same fading where I used the BF on the one side! But I wasn't worried b/c I have the chalk pastels & she looks fabulous. I had watched a video on recoloring w/ chalk pastels a couple of months ago.
Girl, I would want her without even blink! It's so so hard to get one in my country, and the ones I see it's to much expensive for me, even with that green all over. Excellent job as usual. ❤
Wonderful swirl instructions! Can’t wait till I find one. Right now I have a #5 I’m working on. Getting rid of green ear then I’ll work on her face paint. My hands shake just thinking about it lol😅.
I would be happy to display both dolls as they came out fabulous, especially the swirl! I have a Midge that I bought with a metal headband that gave her severe green! I tried CLR and RemoveZit. After a week, I just gave up! Fortunately, she’s a brunette and the hair covers most of the green. But because she’s worth nothing, I took the opportunity to give her more makeup and rooted eyelashes!😂 She’s not plain Midge anymore! Great video! Thanks!
Both dolls look fabulous! You did a great job restoring them. You have so much patience. I love how you dressed them. So beautiful. I just think it is wonderful that you take these dolls that need so much help and make them beautiful again. Thrift dolls speak to me too. They just scream at me to take them home and make them beautiful again. I have not tried any green ear treatments. I just clean, dress, and restyle hair, but oh does that make such a difference. I love your channel.
Aww thank you so much!! I’m happy you enjoy my channel. It’s why I continue! I want to not only teach about restoration, but also make you laugh and feel at home. As that’s the best, and that’s also channels I look out for and subscribe to. I really appreciate you so much for saying so! 😊
Thank you for sharing this video, I learn far more when from an honest video like yours that shows the ups and downs like we all go through when restoring our dolls. Also I don’t know what it is about swirl ponytails, I have restored 5 of them and no matter what method I have used I have not been able to fully remove all trace of green ear like I have been able to with regular ponytails and bubble cuts 🤷♀️.
You are so welcome! Thank you so much for watching! I agree!! Trying to get the green out of them is miserable. They must use a different type of vinyl that’s much more porous than the other vinyl. As they react a little too well to green ear. And it’s like pulling teeth to get the green out. I have another ponytail that’s like that. No matter what method I used, the green will not budge.
Thank you so much for this! I am currently using your method to fix green ear on a beautiful brunette #5 ponytail. I especially appreciate your step by step instructions on the swirl. I was doing it in a different way that was much more complicated. Your dolls turned out beautifully!
Congrats, Adam, on a successful Alaska trip! I'm so happy u enjoyed yourself! Vegas seems like much more my speed right now. The Flamingo is one of my fav Vegas places to stay, and u might laugh at my reasoning why but it's because of the smell! Lol, I absolutely love the smell that they pump in there 24/7. Treasure Island, The Mirage, and The Flamingo are my 3 favs for that exact reason, although it's been 10+ years since I've stayed at any of them or even really vacationed there, they smell like a particular perfume that I absolutely love! !I sincerely hope u enjoy ur stay, Adam, and the smell, lol! One thing Vegas always makes me think of is the 20 dollar trick. Have u heard of it? I've been successful with it many times over there and specifically at the Flamingo. What u do is, when u check in u fold up a 20 dollar bill and place it between ur ID and credit card and when u hand it to them u simply ask if there are any free upgrades available. Typically, u can score a suite or something, at least one or 2 room types, better than what u booked, and it costs u only 20 bucks! Mind u, it's been 10+ years, as I stated previously, so maybe it costs more now idk but I feel like it's always worth a try. The worst they can say is no. The 20 dollar trick can work at any hotel u see fit to use it at. I've had success at several different types in different locations. I hope u have the best trip ever and ease right into the lack of snow ur now dealing with! I'm sure it will be super enjoyable after coming from the most depressing location uve ever been to. Here's to a major rise in Adam's spirits!! 🍾🍸🍻🍹✌️💜✌️💜
I heard the doll vinyls on the old barbies were dip dyed - not made with the colour ingrained. Maybe that’s y the bleaching occurred. It stripped the dye. But that repaint was phenomenal 🫢 it’s like the bleaching never happened.
Usually that’s with the mod dolls or the 1-3 ponytail Barbie’s. These dolls should’ve been cast in that color. But so interesting to see some of the effects of different lime and rust removers on the dolls!
I actually really like the swirl! She's a little pale, but pretty. I believe you definitely improved the doll from where you started. You brought her back to displayable condition.
Wow!! Im the first one this time? This restoration went really well. Ill try this on my first barbie doll. Her head looked yellow to the point where it looks darker than the rest of her body. I think the heated lamp method will work with her condition. Thanks for this.🤍
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I thought I was the only one that tortured their Barbies by running thread through their heads and it's nice to know that I'm not alone. (I also stuff their heads with cleaner soaked cotton balls and have been known to bury them in baking soda for months if they smelled bad) Someone took that poor swirl Barbie swimming at one time. I did the same when I was a kid... They did come with swimsuits after all!!... so I recognize the green ear result. I was wondering though... Have you ever tried denture cleaner to remove mould and stains from older Barbie bodies?
It does leave a stain that shows up overtime actually and has an even worse odor. It also will bleach the eyes and even repainting them won’t work as the chemical gets into the vinyl. Ruined plenty of dolls that way. At least that was my experience.
Super good job! The Barbies look like new. As I could see in other videos of yours, you have wonderful support from your cute cat. 😺 What's her name? I'm going to try to do my Swirl Ponytail Barbie's hair the same way. Thank you for the very good tips on the restoration.
Thank you for rescuing me from doomscrolling! Can I come and live in Barbie Land with you please? (That’s a joke by the way. I’m British, we don’t do humour well)
This is great! Really helpful information! One question though: Do you know if you can use Bar Keepers Friend AFTER someone else has used CLR? I have a #4 where the previous owner used CLR but there's still green. I think I heard that mixing chemicals can turn the vinyl brown, so I'm wondering if it's safe to try a new method. Thanks in advance!
I’ve heard of some chemical reactions if you do that, but I’m not sure what that does to the vinyl. I know clr over time will leave rust stains. For some reason. I had that happen on me first hand!
I sold an American girl head on a straightleg barbie, the lasdy DID not like the smell.I thought I had gotten most of the smell out.I used bartender's friend.
Oh that’s too bad. Some people are very picky. When I sell vintage dolls I always say that the dolls are sold as is. And aren’t mint because some people really think otherwise and get upset. But I always shop as nothings mint, unless otherwise specified. But also, some people just can’t be satisfied. And we want our dolls to go to good homes and not unhappy ones.

Thank you so much!! I really tried to give her some new life. And you are right, she at least looks better than when she came to me! Thank you ❤😊

Thank you so much! ☺️
Well it’s comforting to know that even Barbie’s ears go green when she wears cheap earrings. Love your videos.
😊 thank you

Nice to see the hair styled properly! Great job. It drives me nuts to see people do it incorrectly and cut pieces off.
Thank you! 😊
I think you did an amazing job with the ponytail, she totally can have a second life after you gave it some love. ❤
I'd be proud to display her.
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate you! Her hair is my favorite part. It’s so silky and beautiful.
I think you did great! If I were to restore the green ears of the vinyl, I'm afraid it would be a huge disaster lol. And thank you for showing us how to do the swirl ponytail hairstyle:)
Aww thank you Harold!! 😊
Your videos are both informational and very relaxing, it’s hard to feel stress when you’re hanging out with Barbie
Oh thank you! 😊

Oh wonderful! You were able to save them too! Pastels are magical. I absolutely love using them.
Best tutorials I’ve found. You have the best channel and plus you make me laugh 🥰
Wow, thank you! ☺️ I’m so happy you enjoy my channel!! Keeps me going!!
Great job! You had quite the work order. Don't feel too bad about the bleached cheeks as we all learn by experimenting.
Thank you!😊
You did such an amazing job with these!!! It's so cool how the chalk pastels bring their faces back to life!
Well thank you so much!! It’s amazing what they can do!

You did a brilliant job despite the bleaching. I love the blonde colour of the swirl! Lovely.
Thank you so much!!

That's a great idea! I want to do that to a Malibu doll I have. What can be the harm? lol may even like the outcome!!
Great video as always!!
You're the best! 🎉
I want to be your neighbor, so that you can restore my dolls 😂! You did a fantastic job!

Thank you!! 😊
It’s amazing what you started with and how she ended up! 😮❤
Thank you!!
I think they came out lovely. The best of a bad situation. 😍
Thank you!!

They both turned out amazing! I can't wait to find a swirl barbie of my own! Another wonderful video! ♡♡♡
Thank you! 😊
I just got my swirl yesterday with green ear..this is kismet ❤😂
Oh wow! 😂
Great job on these beauties 🥰
Thank you! 🤗
Perfect timing again!!
Yayy! Lol
I'll be trying the oxy stain remover after the green ear process, thanks!
Yayy!!! ❤ I hope it works for you!!
Wow!! Im the first one this time? This restoration went really well. Ill try this on my first barbie doll. Her head looked yellow to the point where it looks darker than the rest of her body. I think the heated lamp method will work with her condition. Thanks for this.🤍
Looks like it💅🏻
They both turned out beautiful, well done. 🙏💞🇦🇺
Pastels save the day again! Now, I'm gonna need you to share tips (if any) on how to de-greenify mod girl heads. Those are near-impossible!
Oh tell me about it. I can always try when I find one

Thank you 🤗 her name is Marge!!
Have you ever done a full repaint restoration?
What colour would you recommend for vintage Barbie skin colour?
Thank you for rescuing me from doomscrolling! Can I come and live in Barbie Land with you please? (That’s a joke by the way. I’m British, we don’t do humour well)
Sure hahaha 😝 it’s fun over here!

How much do you charge for restoration?
hi
Hi 👋🏻
