If wine is life it's a good idea to look into giving it up! Read the Book "The Truth About Alcohol" or "This Naked Mind" or "Alcohol Lied to Me" and you won't want it anymore.
I started drinking a glass of wine once in a while in my 40 , now I realize it was when my perimenopause started. After a while I started to go for the sweet ones so I can drink not just with meal but as a desert. One morning ( MORNING) , I found myself reaching for the bottle in the fridge. I sat there and thought to myself : this is the beginning of alcoholism, when you want to drink in the morning . I have the genes, all my fam is alcoholic. So I got so scared and I thew the bottle in the sink and never bought another bottle again to this day . That moment of realization that my fam genes might kick in and destroy me , that was scary .
Stopped drinking alcohol after I was pregnant when I was 22-23 I tried a little bit after but didn’t feel like it was worth it. I’m 29 going on 30 next year and plan to no drink at all. I figure if I gone this far why stop? Alcohol addiction runs in my family as well and it turned me off completely to drink alcohol as well. I also don’t smoke either which I’m so happy about, I just don’t like being addicted to things like that. It’s such a bad habit .. I just tell myself it’s not worth it and I’ll thank myself when I’m older 😊
I tend to drink more red wine than I should on a regular basis.I do take breaks from time to time. Like now, I haven't had any wine for a week. I'll randomly do that, take breaks then drink some.
Same here. I’ll do once a week for awhile. I’ll do nothing for a few weeks. And then I’ll buy a bottle which will last me a few days. And back to another break.
My mom was a bougie alcoholic, because all she drank was wine. A glass of white before dinner, half a bottle of red at dinner, another glass of white after dinner. Almost every day. She never seemed drunk and was never out of control. But she suffered terrible health complications, including anxiety, insomnia (she said wine helped her sleep), breast cancer in her late 40s, Crohn's disease, and she died of pancreatic cancer. I quit drinking two years after she died because I realized I could go the same way. It's been 5 years and I will never go back to drinking anything!
I am definitely working through the stage of knowing I don't feel great when I drink, but still feeling like I want it. I have this exact conversation you mentioned with myself "but if I have wine, I won't be able to sleep and I'll feel bad tomorrow"...but it doesn't always convince me to abstain. This additional information is welcome support to help me talk myself out of the glass of wine. Thank you.
Momma" why you don't try to do a diary of when you have wine ..and sustained...at least for 5 days later ,and keep adding 5 more after...that's what I do 🤓
The one big thing I've done for myself is cut out all alcohol - I cut it out nearly 18 months ago now and don't miss it. I was a daiily drinker. I also basically cut out caffeine.
I really enjoy and get a lot out of your videos! This is a topic I've really been mulling over lately. For most of my adult life I would only have a drink every once in a while. The last few years, I've been drinking more often even when I don't really enjoy it. Like you mentioned, it disrupts my sleep and I can feel inflammation in my body the next day. I do enjoy a cold beer or glass of wine but think it's time to cut back to the every once in a while frequency again. Plus it's a good way to save a few bucks!
I’m 50 next month and couldn’t agree more. I used to binge drink in my 20s and early 30s but the older I got the worse the hangover and it was as simple as that. I had a hangover for 5 days in my late 30s and think this was the straw that broke the camels back. Steadily decreased my alcohol intake so now it’s a rarity. For special occasions my family has 0% Prosecco and it sounds a bit boring but we’re all drivers and live in villages 20 miles apart from each other so the 0% is a no brainer on the driving level as well as health. This still doesn’t mean I don’t fancy a nice large glass of Malbec sometimes but I just say no because I get drunk easily after 4 sips/glugs 😂 the expression gets drunk on a sniff of a barmaids apron applies to me but I am totally fine with that. I don’t wake up feeling like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards during the night and my body thanks me for it. My next 50 years will be practically alcohol free ❤ plus I don’t want to ruin my workout efforts. I have to say though sometimes things happen which warrant having some alcohol for medicinal purpose like a family death and the wake I would have a drink but I wouldn’t go mad I.e. a sip of brandy in tough times never hurt anyone
Wine 🍷 is life I would be hard pressed to totally give it up . But cutting back is definitely on the table .

You can do it!
@@stephaniew4168I agree . Referring to wine as “life” suggests there’s already an addiction.
@@Patricia-413 yep major addiction!

I stopped wine, and hot flashes cut in half
So great to hear!

But that your experience ,,,I'm 57 and drink wine...3 times in a month and no problems for me 🤷♀️
You definitely should do whatever feels good for you. 😊
@@JennPikeinteresting to me that some people become defensive when anyone suggests they curtail or give up their wine.
But in some European countries people drink wine almost every day with dinner. They seem to be doing just fine.🤔
I think we need to look at the overall lifestyle before comparing too much.
I really needed to see this. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
