2010 GT Premium - Hammered by snow in Northwest, buried in 4-6" for 2-3 days before the plow makes it by the house, finally swapped out 19" low profile rims with 17" rims and studded snow tires - tank mode - in fact turning off traction control made it even better. Neighbors are shaking their heads in disbelief. A daily driver in the snow, yep.
I paused the video at 0:05 to give my opinion... Not sure if it is correct or not, but this is what I would do... First, before the predicted snowfall, I'd get some aftermarket 18" wheels and get Bridgestone Blizzack WS80 snow tires in size 235/50/18. Then I'd put about 200 pounds of sand and salt bags in the trunk, plus a shovel with the seats folded down. Then, if it wasn't full already, I'd fill my gas tank to full. Then I'd try the different modes, but ultimately keep the traction control off if possible. Between the tires, the extra weight over the rear tires & the limited slip diff, I bet it would go pretty well in snow up to a certain point- Up to the max ground clearance level, maybe slightly beyond? Also, if it were a manual transmission, you can possibly rock your way out if you get stuck. Now I will watch the video lol 👍
@@youngrocckk8854do it. 2021 GT C/S manual as my daily in the northeast, snow mode and good tires you’re ready to go on plowed roads. I wouldnt take her off roading but yk to each their own
The snow/wet mode cuts power. I'm not sure by how much, but it's just supposed to help make the car more manageable. I personally like using it for rain and snow. I don't really care about throttle response in that instance. I just want to not die lol. To be fair though I'm running the base model 235s on my GT Premium like and idiot 😂 Very under tired.
On my manual when the temp was below 15F pushing the clutch was like pushing a tree when cold. If you don't start any vehicle after three days in -15F or colder, you better have a backup transportation plan.
Thanks for doing the video, I have been wondering how it would handle. Time for a new car and have always wanted a mustang gt, had my eye on a 21 gt premium but was concerned, I am planning on great snow tires as well, living on the east side of cleveland and all....

Late to the party but whatever I’ll ask anyway. I’m in Minnesota and driving in snow my whole driving career so far and currently own a “08 charger r/t. Looking into buying something newer. Either a new mustang gt or a scat pack. how are these newer mustangs on gas. Chill driving mainly highways/interstate with some hard drives and driving here and there?
Just picked up a 2018 basic package mustang a few weeks back. From Chicago, so definitely pretty nervous about this upcoming winter season, especially as a first time sports car owner. But appreciate the video and tips. Gotta get myself some proper winter tires asap
On the fence buying a 18 mustang gt with performance pack, you are on of the few people that drive with cloth seats, are the cloth seats comfortable? I cant find a used 18-19 mustang with leather price jumps $11k
Gary S save your money my friend, the cloth seats are very comfortable and my friends with the leather seats all tell me that my cloth seats feel more bolstered and hug you more. The only think I don’t like about the cloth seats is that they do not come heated. Ford fucked up on that in my opinion.
Fellow Canadian here, love from Winnipeg. Just bought myself an EcoBoost and planning to lower the car. It looked like yours has been lowered. How does that feel driving lowered than stock in winter? It would be helpful for your input as I daily drive it and plan to get rid of that hideous ride height
@@MUSTGANG I appreciate the prompt response. Thankfully the company I work for, is work from home this winter so probably won’t have to deal with this right now. But once things get back to normal NW Ohio can have some bad days during the winter. I am thinking about buying some cheap rims for the winter tires and keep the standard rims for the spring/summer.
Nice video I just bought a 19 as well and was wondering how I was gonna drive it in the snow in Cleveland. The way you talk about the car is exactly how I have been talking about mine. Wish I had a couple more packages on mine but hey you get what you can! Nice video.
I would say do the following if you are on a highway: go very slow, stay on the righter-most lane, have your hazards on and be very cautious. AND IF YOUR CAR HAS 2 OR L, have it on that because it makes the car heavy.
If this is fine in the snow then it should be even better in rain right? but anyways thanks for the video, im getting my first car in a couple of months and wanted this one.
Thinking about doing this with a new S650 gt that I ordered. I drive an Audi A4 FBO 91 octane tune in the winter. Meh about 350ish wheel on that tune. Even with awd and 1500$ of tires I’ll lose control quick. 2500-3000rpm and I’ll lose it
What’s your brothers car like in the snow? Can you be more of a hooligan in winter? I live in NY and I have a SUV now. I love driving in the snow, but I want a car that is more fun all around. Thanks
I've driven in snow and ice on my 275 nitto nt555 g2s lol About to try again in 8in of snow, wish me luck. I'm in a modified and e30 tuned ecoboost but came platform. My foxbody drives ok in snow too

Absolutely, limited slip diff helps a lot to be driveable in the snow.
Winter tires and sandbags in the trunk.
Better to keep salt bags rather than sand. If you ever get stuck in ice, you can empty the salt on the ice and it'll help you get unstuck.
