Grandia II[a] is a role-playing video game developed by Game Arts originally for the Dreamcast console as part of their Grandia series. Initially released in Japan in August 2000 by Game Arts, the game was later made available in English for North America the following December and in Europe in February 2001, with both releases published by Ubi Soft. The game was later ported to Sony PlayStation 2, where it was released worldwide throughout 2002, and for Microsoft Windows exclusively in North America and Europe later that year.
An enhanced port, based upon the Dreamcast version and entitled Grandia II Anniversary Edition was released on August 24, 2015, on Steam and GOG.com. A high-definition remaster of the game was released in North America and Europe on August 16, 2019, together with one of the original, for Nintendo Switch; an associated update for the Windows PC Anniversary Edition was released on October 15, 2019.[7][8] GungHo Online Entertainment clarified that a Japanese release of the remasters will follow in the future.[9]

Great video, Grandia 1/2 is awesome. No mouths on character? Eiyuden is doing it lol HAHA. but seriously. Yeah, the series dropped after 2. I hope they get their stride back. I wish they go back to 1 and 2 and look at what made fans love the series. Anyways keep up the good work.
Side Note: I wish they would just do an actual Modern Remaster/Remake on them like SO did. Giving the background a better update on 1 and 2

Grandia Extreme and Breath of fire Dragon quarter are the two games that spelled the death of some of the best franchises. Here is hoping that new found appreciation is felt for the upcoming remasters and maybe just maybe, we can get a reboot/revivial in some way like the Suikoden Series. Grandia 4 anyone?

Playing grandia 2 on the switch right now after you wer raving about it thought I'd give it a go lol great game was hard for me to get used too after a lifetime of squares rpg formula but the combat system is great (if not a little slow with animations) a great experience with great characters.
Definitely need to pick up the collection one of these days! With how much you praise Grandia 2 it must be a good time, especially if the characters don't have mouths 😂 but for real the battle system does look interesting. Maybe I'll start with Grandia Extreme 😉
Haha my brother, I absolutely love Grandia 2. It so important to me. But yeah the series as a whole has some upd and downs, but it's battle system is definitely A1 quality 😎🙏🏽
i have only complete Grandia 2 loved it was alot of humour in the game also which was a nice touch, i always felt like i enjoyed the first but for some reason i would get so far and stop disc 2 usually not sure why, the other 2 i never played, shame the main creator passed along time ago now. would be nice for a new entry but they would need to look and go back to the 1+2 games for success i guess

I love this series for me it goes 1 is the best, 2 second best, 3rd is okay but not as bad as people saying it is, I still finshed it but not a great game. Didnt care to much for Extreame, the gameboy color one,

I played the Grandia first Time long ago on the PS1 or PS2, but never finish it.
Now i bougth the Switch HD Remaster Collection and will play it after Eiyuden. Or after Suikoden Remaster, when Konami do a good Job.

I desperately wish I liked grandia 3. Tried on release, and then once every few years afterwards and I always end up quitting 3-4 hours in. I cant put 1 or 2 above the other. Grandia extreme i have a raw, visceral, primal kind of hate for (lol). I HATE HATE HATE when rpg series make sequels but remove exploration from them. Sooo many games have pissed me off with this since my childhood starting way back with Shining Force CD. They are still doing it today, too....look at the Saga series. GRRR. /end rant
Good video! After playing Chrono Trigger for the first time last year (I know 😭) I thought that I really need to play the JRPG classics and perhaps playing a game in this series could be a good pick and hopefully more games in the series get ported to modern systems in the future.
I don't agree with the whole ranking, but I agree that 2 is the best. Best soundtrack and best story. Best presentation and best gameplay go to 3.
Grandia is another game I wish they would make another in the series making the most of today's technology with the great battle system would be awesome.
Despite what ppl says, i LOVE grandia 3, for me, grandia 3 battle system is among the BEST battle systems in rpg, the stoy is not that awesome, but is still enjoyable, and i did like the characters and that you have to play and battle with your MOM! hahaha love it...but seriously, just alone the amazing battle system makes grandia 3 my favorite
I'm definitely down to give it another chance someday! I'm wondering since I know the Grandia series is one ice, I wonder rif I'd appreciate it more. Hopefully Gungho re releases it
@@kali-qgames1301 Yeah you have to give it a try again someday. It had happened to me a lot before that now that I'm older and more mature, i enjoy and understand games that i didn't like before...and of course, it would be amazing if they re releases it

Grandia was solid, but not in my top tier.
I respect that, but I love Grandia
The first game is BRUTAL it just takes too long to weapon/skill/party member lv up so don't be surprised when your fighting lv 40+ enemies in the final dungeon and your PARTY members OWN lvs isn't even HALF of that at lv 20 to lv 25.
I don't think the series is underrated (mostly because of III & Xtreme), just underrepresented. At least the series is given somewhat of new life with these remasters on PS4 & Xbox. I'm sure the series will come be someday. Especially in an age where there are several revivals, remasters, & remakes aplenty of various series. Like the Saga or Mana series.
Grandia III is my favorite because it took everything from past games and made it better. I disagree 100% about the story criticisms, it captured the same feel as the first game and even has fog the day Yuki leaves his hometown.
Say what you want about Grandia Xtreme, it still had legendary voice actor Mark Hamill and singing sensation Lisa Loeb. Yes, THAT Lisa Loeb. You say...
You mentioned Gung Ho, but last I checked, Square-Enix has the rights to Grandia III and Xtreme. Though i am unsure who published Grandia III on PS3.
