At the beginning of 2022, one of my goals was to always have pretty nails on my hands. It's something I've always wanted to do but could not afford going every few weeks to spend $80+ to get them done. So I did some research and purchased a couple hundred dollars worth of different products to find the best fit for me. Gel extensions were my favorite! They were so satisfying to put on and I enjoyed the freedom of length it gave me. However, after a few months of doing them myself my natural nails took a massive hit. They were very thin and brittle, and they tend to be like that naturally but it got even worse over time. I'm not a professional by any means, so I assume it was because I was doing something wrong during the removal process but I'm not sure what, as I've followed step by step removal videos literally to the T. I even tried using gel extensions with regular nail polish (Lights Lacquer have some of the best regular polishes I've tried to date) for the nail art to see if that would help during the removal process but still would see the same results. I decided to try and grow out my natural nails in an effort to get them strong and healthy again, ngl I miss doing the gel extensions sooo much, but I wanna try and see if I can get my natural nails to the point where I won't need the extensions! I'm using a very fine and thin dip powder on my natural nails to give them added strength, (I use two coats as my nails are very brittle still but one coat should be fine if your nails are stronger), and then a couple layers of regular polish (Lights Lacquer) as well as use jojoba oil once/twice a day on my cuticles. I started doing this the beginning of March and can already see the difference in length and quality. I love gel extensions, don't get me wrong. I just feel like, in my opinion, anything that requires soaking your nails for an extended length of time with acetone, can deteriorate the health of your natural nail so badly. Again, I'm not a professional, I did not go to school for this or anything like that, I'm speaking from the point of view of a consumer that has tried several different types of methods for nail extension. I love watching gel extension videos though, always so satisfying to see the process from beginning to end and the results always come out so beautiful! im in the exact same position, I've had fake nails for a long time (done professionally) and my nails are in such bad condition :( I used to have lovely long nails, now they're thin and peeling. I'm just worried about discolouration of natural nails at the back and the pressure of making sure they dont break. Would love to hear an update if you stick with growing your nails or go back to extensions!
The damage that's comes from having nail extensions will occur because you are either buffing the nail too much before application, or you are not properly taking off the extensions.

I bought everything from your list, to be honest, you saved my life! I live in a very cheap(ish)-expensive(ish) country where you need to pay 120$ to get your nails done. In one of the stores, you have to pay 90$ for a tiny bottle of gel, 40$ for one bottle of polish, and maybe the most disgusting price that makes me angry, 100$ for A NORMAL NAIL FILE- so you really saved me. Thanks for everything 💕
Don't shove the artificial nail to the back of the cuticle. Again, you can harm your cuticles. Keep them a bit away from the cuticle. you can file the back of the artificial nail down to make it flush with the natural nail.
Ive been doing nails for about 4 months, and that is one of the first thing i learnt, dont put they dehydrator/primer on your skin, dont put a gelx nail right against your cuticle, because you can file that down to be flush with the nail. Ive only used the nail glue once as I find it messy, I use polygel and it works great as well
@Hay P you are welcome but I would definitely try on your nails before trying them on someone else. Or you can purchase a model hand to practice on. You can use student products to get the hang of using them. With e- files, definitely work on your nails to get the feel of the instrument in your hands, the weight, the speed, ect. I watch KiaraSky nails, Luminary nails, Young nails, Valentino Beauty Pure nails, ect. I even watch some foreign nail techs. They all have their own techniques but you can mix n match all the techniques to meet your preferences.
My sister loaned me her kit, and I was thinking it was poly gel. I never heard of gel x. I’m SO glad I found this video. Definitely the easiest way to do nails. I have the acrylic and gel set to do nails but this is now my favorite lol
I actually use Vaseline as cuticle oil when I don’t have gel x nails on, it’s great, it absorbed quickly, it’s cheap and can also be used to soften the cuticle
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’ve just been starting to do my own nails with extensions and this has made it super easy, this video is great for beginners and i already feel super happy with my end products. I also recommend the Beetles nail art gel liners, they have a super thin tip and they are very pigmented and easy to control

Same happened to me and it's so uncomfortable and frustrating. Found out that using a simple base coat before I put anything else on my nails is key here. Even with gel-x nails I use a base coat before applying the gel-glue to prevent direct contact with the product and suffering an allergic reaction. Crossing my fingers you'll be able to do your nails again some day soon! x

Then I found this video and omgg the nails I did after I watching this lasted for so long than I expected them to. Thank you so much this is so helpful and i love your other videos!!!
First off, these are so pretty, great job! Second.. I literally just ordered pretty much everything you used plus some extra different. Now I’m even more excited to get everything tomorrow! Glad I just found you!
I SOOOO needed this! I’m new to get nails and have been getting so frustrated with having issues getting the tips to adhere. I see now I’ve been using way too little glue! I use super short nails so I don’t have a lot to hold on to when flash curing the tip onto my nail. I will give it a shot using the right amount of glue and I bet it helps. I’ve been having to push down hard on the tip while it cures to try to get it to stick without lots of air bubbles. I should have watched this first! Can’t wait to give it a try using the right amount 😅😂
Thanks for posting this!! I've been doing my own hard gel nails for a while now, but recently I've had a wrist injury from work and just couldn't bring myself to do my nails the usual way. This seems like such an easier way to do nails on yourself, I'm inspired to try it now! 🤩
This is one of the very best tutorials I’ve seen and I’ve seen quite a few! Thank you so much for showing me what I’ve been doing wrong!! Your description box is so helpful as well.
Your method was very helpful! I decided to try gel x for the first time recently and it did not go well. Following your suggestions made the process much faster and easier.
Came back to this video bc I want to start doing my nails a different way, I've been using polygel with dual forms but I'm excited for this method and ordered a bunch of stuff off your list!!
I love watching people give tips on how to do nails, and also the products they use, I just work a lot so I never have time for it because I get home late at night. But I’ve also had bad experience with nail salons getting stuff that I didn’t ask for or getting something that doesn’t look great and I’m over priced for it. I keep up with my nails I trying to grow them out but they always break off at my job
You should look into getting a peal off base coat for your videos. That way you can easily remove your nails set after set for when you don’t intend to wear them for long. They also can tune into reusable press ons after that :)
Oh!! After you peel off the base and used a colored base or other designs on top: I cut or punch out little shapes or lines that I then use as nail decals; then finish w clear topcoat or a pretty sheer HOLO (shoutout to Christine!) please add her channel here for credit - I can’t remember just now!

Hi I love your work !! How much time does it take you to do the whole set ? From prep to the end. It takes me sooo long and I don’t know if it’s normal or I am a perfectionist freak 😂
I’ve done 4 sets on myself. I usually do one hand one night and the next hand the following because it takes me so long. Usually about two hours per hand. However, I do spend a TON of time shaping because I cannot find tips that are the right shape/length.
are they thick enough to not break in half if hit on something hard by accident? lol ive had this happen many times w/ acrylic and dip nails. i wanna try gel x nails but idk if theyll be as strong as i need them to be. also do you have to re-apply a new set when they start to grow out or is there a way to do a fill w/ these extentions on? thanks for your videos theyve helped me a lot and are the reason i even started doing my own nails !
It may not work for you but for me I always apply a layer of builder gel after applying my nails to give it that added strength. I then buff and proceed with next steps. I've also uses polygel instead to adhere my nails as well and they both have lasted me 3-4 weeks. I know builder gel can be expensive especially if you use Kiara Sky or Apres but Madam Glam has a great one it's a little thicker and reasonably priced.
Hey kayli! I just figured out you can use rubber basecoats to apply the nails, they are really cheap and save time when applying a basecoat for frenchies
I'm a nail designer who personally thinks that Brazilian fiber looks better and is way more natural, HOWEVER I also want cute pretty nails and as a minor is a lot of work keeping them pretty while studying and making other peoples nails, so instead I do these on myself and I can practice it a lot by myself, I love it!!!
I know you say you’re not a professional because you were self taught I believe, but I still see you as a pro because you have been doing it for so long and obviously you’re extremely good.
You're videos are helping me learn how to do my own nails. I've done them a handful of times but I struggle getting them to fit my nail correctly and keeping them from lifting and popping off. Would love to hear an update if you stick with growing your nails or go back to extensions!
What’s a dip powder to strengthen the nails
The damage that's comes from having nail extensions will occur because you are either buffing the nail too much before application, or you are not properly taking off the extensions.
What dip powder do you use
@@senseofpi dip powder is a powder that comes with activator I don't know exactly what it is but you dip your nail in it and then you put the activator and it gets really really hard like acrylic
Girl thank you SOOOO much for inspiring me to buy all my own stuff. Learned so much from your videos, and am so happy - just did my second set and already got the hang of it!

I bought everything from your list, to be honest, you saved my life! I live in a very cheap(ish)-expensive(ish) country where you need to pay 120$ to get your nails done. In one of the stores, you have to pay 90$ for a tiny bottle of gel, 40$ for one bottle of polish, and maybe the most disgusting price that makes me angry, 100$ for A NORMAL NAIL FILE-
so you really saved me. Thanks for everything 💕
What country are you in?
@@selah21740 Croatia(I'm not from there tho, I moved there when I was a kid)
I was gonna say sounds like Canada but wow expensive 100.00 for a nail file..
Ive only used the nail glue once as I find it messy, I use polygel and it works great as well
@@Beamrgurl1 poly gels are great to work with. 👍
Is it possible to file it without an e file?
@@lilacarson hand comes are fine when you are not skilled in using e-files. File the edges of the hand file so you don't cut your clients cuticles.
I also recommend the Beetles nail art gel liners, they have a super thin tip and they are very pigmented and easy to control
i developed an allergic reaction to gel polish so i cant do my nails anymore and its the saddest thing ever cause i really enjoyed buying things and looking for new designs :( but yeah i always watch your videos and they make me sooo happy. i wished i could do them again but sadly i cant. pls dont stop these videos!
Same happened to me and it's so uncomfortable and frustrating. Found out that using a simple base coat before I put anything else on my nails is key here. Even with gel-x nails I use a base coat before applying the gel-glue to prevent direct contact with the product and suffering an allergic reaction. Crossing my fingers you'll be able to do your nails again some day soon! x
im like allergic to every gel nail polish, even if a small small piece touches my finger its OVER lol. but i've never tried using a simple base coat and then the gel-glue base. thank u so much i'll try it some day
@@norap.9663 thank you this helps so much!!! I have the same problem and hopefully it works🙏🏻
@@delfi3007 Have you tried using HEMA free gel polishes? That's apparently the ingredient that causes the reaction in a lot of people.. Madam Glam makes them and i know a few other brands have started to as well! I just started using gel products and i'm so scared of eventually developing an allergy
me too!!! im allergic to EVERY gel even if a little touches me i get itchy and so many blisters :(( i love watching her videos as well i miss doing my nails too i guess im living through her videos LMAO but i started doing dip and using regular nail polish :)
You have taught me so much about nails I mean, i-
You're literally so talented! Love you💞
I started doing my own nails when Covid shut everything down and I started with just gel polish on my natural nails and then tried dip with end tips to have longer nails and loved it but I found extend gel kit on Amazon a couple months ago and omg I’m obsessed!! It’s so much easier than applying the regular old style tips and using dip over top. I love learning new tips and tricks. I definitely need to try applying the glue and curing it before applying the nail on my next set. Your nail art is soooo cute!!
The gel you use to stick the top is the gel which can be apply on top of the tips to build the extentions (builder gel) as well right?
Can you please tell me
This was surprisingly thorough but so simple and quick. Thank you for posting!
Nice, concise, informative; minimal time wasted on any unnecessary or superfluous details or silliness, as well as keeping the footage of tedious tasks down to only what’s necessary to convey the point, without spending so much time to the point of becoming tiresome and tedious . Thanks!
christ bruh
out of all the videos ive seen this was the most helpful. tysm😭
You do such an incredible job!! You gave me the confidence, education and entertainment of the video to do these nails with my daughter ❤ thank you so much. We are all pumped up and prepping to do them now! 🎉
I literally bought everything off her amazon list and it works :) so happy!!
I have a question, should the primer and nail prep dehydrator be dried in the air or under the lights?
Cute! I had gel x nails done at the nail salon for my birthday and yours look much better than mine. I paid $90 including tip
Honestly that’s why I started doing my own and doing these videos. Getting them done is so overpriced for such and underwhelming result
Miss kayli I LIVE for your nail videos. They bring me so much happiness and peace. Thank you so much ❤
Thank you for making this. I want long beautiful nails but I don’t want to pay and schedule an appointment each month, store bought press on aren’t strong enough though. This is perfect
I have always done my own the cheapest way I knew how. And this literally was everything I needed to see to give me my boost of confidence to start doing friends and family as they have already been askingme to. But I am going into business. Love how you chose to paint them.
I started doing my own nails a month ago but I still couldn't make them last long it would lift two days after I did them. Then I found this video and omgg the nails I did after I watching this lasted for so long than I expected them to. Thank you so much this is so helpful and i love your other videos!!!
Just did my Nails following this tutorial and they turned out better than they have ever been!😻❤
First off, these are so pretty, great job!
I started doing my own nails cause of your videos and I’m obsessed! I did the valentine dot ones you did and everyone was obsessed! Thank you ❤️❤️
Your method was very helpful!
I recently bought all of the nail stuff and have been doing my own!!
Miss kayli I LIVE for your nail videos. They bring me so much happiness and peace. Thank you so much :)
Great tutorial! Felt like a friend was walking me through this! Love the final look...Thanks girl!
Explained very clearly with clear instructions. Super well done
This video was so helpful. Thank you for showing us AND explaining what you do.
After watching your videos I got everything to do dip and gel x and I love gel x so much more because it’s so quick I used to take like 2 hours on each hand when doing dip 😵💫
That’s why I switched. Dip is good it’s just way too time consuming
@@kayliboyle do you think you can do a video on how to do those nails that have like a light pink or nude and ombré out to clear and under the clear is like heart decals or sparkle decals because idk how that would work with gel x bc with acrylic they lay clear over the top to encapsulate it? Idk if that made any sense to you sorry 🤣😵💫
You did such an amazing job! You've sold me, I've been considering doing my own for a while now. I am not very coordinated, I'd definitely mess this up, as easy as you make this look!
oh my goodness these are so cute 😩😩 i love watching your nail videos!!! i don’t really do nails like this so i just watch them cuz they’re so fun and satisfying to watch lmbo i love you and your content so much kayli!!! your so amazing
these videos are so relaxing and calming to watch
been loving all the content recently ❤️❤️ keep up the great work 😙
Love your channel! Actually bought the bettles set because of you, and it's awesome!
Just one question, why do you do a coat of glue on your natural nails before applying extra glue and nail tips?
Thanks for spreading the knowledge!!
Yes! She does!
These videoes are so calming and addictive 😍
I love these nails!!! I will try them for my birthday next month as well! Amazing video Kayli!
Those are super cute, i love them! This was so helpful too. Im binge watching these types of videos since im about to try to do my own extensions for the first time so i need all the tips i can get lol but i found yours the most helful so far 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for all the help! So easy to follow and understand. I'm really excited about trying to duplicate the process!!! Pretty confident thanks to you.
You just saved so much money ! Beautiful

i don’t think i can explain but
WHEN UR NAIL VIDS COME OUT I AND AS EXCITED AS MY B DAY
i'm obsessed w u and i am buying everything RN
Your nails came out beautiful and that design you did. I'm in love
Hi I love your work !! How much time does it take you to do the whole set ? From prep to the end. It takes me sooo long and I don’t know if it’s normal or I am a perfectionist freak 😂
Around an hour usually
I’ve done 4 sets on myself. I usually do one hand one night and the next hand the following because it takes me so long. Usually about two hours per hand. However, I do spend a TON of time shaping because I cannot find tips that are the right shape/length.
@@kayliboyle whattt?? Omg how do you do that ??? It takes me an hour only to pick the right size to my nails and file them.
This is the best , most helpful video ever. Not even doing gel x atm but this still helped me with another method I’m trying
are they thick enough to not break in half if hit on something hard by accident? lol ive had this happen many times w/ acrylic and dip nails. i wanna try gel x nails but idk if theyll be as strong as i need them to be. also do you have to re-apply a new set when they start to grow out or is there a way to do a fill w/ these extentions on? thanks for your videos theyve helped me a lot and are the reason i even started doing my own nails !
Hey kayli! I just figured out you can use rubber basecoats to apply the nails, they are really cheap and save time when applying a basecoat for frenchies
girl your cuticles are screaming for help
I'm a nail designer who personally thinks that Brazilian fiber looks better and is way more natural, HOWEVER I also want cute pretty nails and as a minor is a lot of work keeping them pretty while studying and making other peoples nails, so instead I do these on myself and I can practice it a lot by myself, I love it!!!
2:59 omg gurl u ripped ur cuticle and it doesn’t hurt?
these are so gorgeous!
I have such bad left hand coordination I just know my right hand would look a mess
Omg exactly
Making those swirls are some mad skills
It’s painful to watch her harass her cuticles like that 😢😮
kayli you’re so amazing and I can’t wait to watch the video!
2:45 her nails cutical is bleeding....
Oop...
Bro why is your into such a bop!! I wish it was a full song
Who else cringed when she pushed her cuticles off of the earth🙋🏻♀️
Love that cuticle pusher girl ❤
I know you say you’re not a professional because you were self taught I believe, but I still see you as a pro because you have been doing it for so long and obviously you’re extremely good.
I am back now ! watched her video 3 weeks ago! And this way works !! Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks !!!
This is the first of your videos I've seen and I had to subscribe!! You explain everything so well and I appreciate the quality and how close it is.💗💗
This was such an amazing tutorial, I’m a beginner lol and this video has to be the easiest way to learn how to apply gel x ! Thank you so much !
Kayli!!!! you have been on your posting game and I’m living for it!
I love watching your videos! You’re a vibe😙 I just binged watched a lot of your vids! Keep doing what you’re doing babe!
Grllll you just gave me a confidence boost to try this! Thank you for your informative video ❤
This is the best video I have seen on nails thank you so so so much peace and love from Paris France 💖

this nails look so amazingg i luv itt 🤩
YAYY!!! I've been waiting for this for so long
I am so happy with all these videos!
The design is so cool!
You're videos are helping me learn how to do my own nails. I've done them a handful of times but I struggle getting them to fit my nail correctly and keeping them from lifting and popping off. I also have a bigger lamp than my travel size more portable one. I have to cure my thumbs separately with it 🤣 but the big one I can put my whole hand in.
I love your nail videos. You always have my favourite styles.
Ooh would love to see your collection of nail related products!!
I am so happy I found this video!
This is a first for me seeing someone with bleeding cuticle’s!! 😮
Your nails turned out to be gorgeous! Thank you for the tips!💖
What an absolute Queen
Wow you did such a great job! Dare I say you nailed it… 😂 seriously though, I have friends who went to school for this and they can’t do nails this well!
