  • Review of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade, purchased with under 100k miles. I am reviewing this vehicle form a consumers point of view and not from a mechanical standpoint.

    My 07 is currently at 179717 miles. I had no issues with it up until it hit 179000. It seems like when it hit that mileage every just started to fall apart. I guess when you drive this vehicle daily and use all its options on a regular basis things don’t hold out as long.
    Here’s a list of things I’ve had to repair.
    1. Transmission Control Module
    2. Oil pump (replaced oil pickup tube and timing chains while I was in there)
    3.Front sway bar end links
    4. Front differential mounts
    5. The cracked dash
    6. Replaced the factory radio with a 13.6in screen radio (it’s direct plug and play it was a 100 bucks more than the oem radio)
    7. All front and rear suspension pieces
    8. Rear lift gate motor (the gears tend to strip out)
    9. Rear lift gate shocks
    10. Rear lift gate pressure handle
    11. Front driver side door handle
    12. Cooled/heated seat module (the only way to permanently fit this is to get the new module and buy the ford harness to replace the GM harness it was made better and yes it will work they use the same module they just doubled up on the ground and power wires)
    13. Leaking headlights. ( I just put them in the oven at 240 for 10 minutes and I could split the lens from the housing to real seal the light I also put silicon around the whole thing.)
    14. Headlight ballast and bulbs (When you replace the bulbs I recommend using the osram cool blue intense next gen they are bright and give you that nice white diamond color and for the ballast try to find the hella ballasts they came with from the factory)
    15. This isn’t an issue I had but this is just something to keep in mind stay away from models that had AFM your engine will fail sometime before 100,000 miles.

      Well, I had to sell this one back in March because the electrical system started going crazy. I think it only had about 165k miles on it.

    Thank you for the review. I learn a lot I did not know about my 2007. The mirrors has close in control. Pedal has a forward and backwards control. The rear seat fold by driver control up front. Heated steering wheel and rear seats. I do have the crack in dash, door fabric has some slack in it and one yellowing discolored air control button. My vehicle was previously owned by my dad since 2012. I know own since 2018. It is still beautiful and run like a kitten over 200,000 miles. Normal service maintenance is all we have had to do. The rest was due to family members. All repaired. Driving through the car wash will leave scratches. Do change the air CABIN filter often. You can also upgrade the Audio, DVD, GPS system to a larger screen. Super awesome! Thanks again.

      I thought this car didn't have a cabin filter! If so where can I access it?

I actually totally forgot about checking the mirrors and the seats and the steering wheel to see if they heat so thanks for that!! Again Great Review!!! Marie

    The the frame rusts out due to AC compressor condensation running down to the passenger side front sway arm bushing bracket. The electronics go apeshit constantly. The traction control disables with ANY codes. Vacuum line connections dry rot and crack but are not visibly noticeable until you remove them and examine them. The Camshaft Sensor Wiring Harness does not hold one of the plugs properly so the crank pully rubs through it, causing a camshaft sensor code and eventually ground-out issues. These electrical issues will cause the transmission to randomly go into tow mode and you have to shut off the vehicle and start it up again to disable it. The large wiring harness on the driver's side of the engine block can rub through and cause more electrical issues. If it begins to idle rough, unplug the mass airflow sensor while the engine is running. If nothing changes in the way the engine runs, you will need to replace the Mass Airflow Sensor (I learned this because I was searching for the root cause of rough idle and went through 7 other parts while cleaning my MAF regularly, even though I was cleaning it and it LOOKED clean and good, it was in fact bad. Message me if you have any questions about random crazy crap that happens with this exact year/model. I have much more.

    • @DrivingTheClassics
      @DrivingTheClassics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, I haven't had any of these issues. How many miles were on the one you were talking about? The only issue that I have had was the positive battery cable was loosing connection at the lower connector due to corrosion. Fixed that and all is good.

    Came across a 2008 Escalade ESV platinum edition 113k miles clean title looks very clean inside and out asking price is $9,500 should I go for it? Reliable SUV in your opinion? Thanks

    • @DrivingTheClassics
      @DrivingTheClassics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can only speak regarding mine. I now have 109,000 miles on it and the only issue I have had was the starter cable needed to be replaced and there is a small vacuum leak from the brake booster that goes to the intake that I need to fix. But other than that, it's a great vehicle for being 15 years old. Good luck.

    • @DrivingTheClassics
      @DrivingTheClassics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only thing I would check out, with that many miles, is the transmission. Those tend to get a leaky solenoid that will cause a clunk in lower gears. I knew this going in, but have not experienced that yet. But I'm only at 107k right now. I bought mine at $12k with under 100k miles. Also before you buy, look at Kbb.com & NADA for values. I'm a car guy, so I knew what to look for, mechanically, but if you're not, I would highly suggest you take it to a mechanic to check it out.

    • @lash2006
      @lash2006 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DrivingTheClassics He can want 20k until it rusts into the ground. These are sturdy trucks, I know some people who were hit head on by a concrete truck and all survived in this exact year/model and I have the same year/model myself. They are not $20k trucks unless they've been completely rebuilt with full performance parts from the ground up in my book.

      Unfortunately, I am not able to control the weather and the GoPro offers very few options for wind noise reduction other than what I already had on the camera. Since then, I use a different camera that has a microphone cover that cuts the noise much more.
