    - Janek: It is time for a coffee.

    I definitely need to visit this city. Honestly the best part of the Czech Republic is the cities like this. I visited Plzeň while staying in Prague and it was lovely to see a Czech city not overrun with tourism for a more authentic feel. Also no intrusive tourist trap BS. This looks similar.

    • @kindmulberry7196

      If I ever went to Prague I'd just escape to Plzeň and stay there instead

    • @andyptv1996

      @@kindmulberry7196 Plzeň is a fun day trip. There is a really cool little puppet museum, the Pilsner Urquell original brewery tour (Pilsner lager was invented in this city!). As for Pardubice in the video, it looks like a prettier city to walk around.

    Aww, too bad I missed it. I was roaming around třída Míru just yesterday.
    Few other tips or interesting facts:
    1. Pardubice is a city of sports - besides already mentioned horse racing and speedway motorcycles, there is a great hockey team, historically one of the most successful in the country, also a football team that plays in the top league, a basketball team that also plays in the top league, etc. Pardubice is also a very flat region, so using a bike as a means of transport is very popular. And because of its flatness, it's also great for jogging, in-line skating, etc.
    2. Pardubice is a city of transportation - there's an international airport that is just 10 minutes away from the main railway station (by bus). Although a connection to major European cities is not great atm, there was a direct flight to London before the pandemic so it might get reinstated at some point (fingers crossed). Speaking of the railway station - it's located on the main corridor that connects Hamburg - Berlin - Prague - Vienna (or Bratislava - Budapest). So yeah, you can use the railway station here to travel to other major EU cities. Or to many other cities.
    3. If you love coffee then you’ll love Pardubice. There’s a lot of great coffee places that know how to make a good tasting coffee for you (including alternative brewing methods). Some examples - Putovní pražírna, Bakla cafe, Bílej Kocouř or Dobrý Kafe. But if you prefer the big coffee brands then there’s also Starbucks, Costa Coffee, or CrossCafe (Czech franchise, student-friendly).
    4. There’s a lot of summer music fests, namely Majáles which takes place 5 min walk from the university, or Hrady, which takes place next to (below) a medieval castle Kunětická hora. Unfortunately, all fests have been canceled during this year due to the pandemic. But there’s a good chance they’ll reopen the following year.
    5. Getting around the city is really easy. Besides the already mentioned possibility to commute by bike, you can also rent one (Nextbike) or you can rent an electric scooter (Bolt or Uber; and it's actually kinda useful here because there're almost no cobblestones, unlike in Prague, and a good amount of bicycle paths). Another option is to use a bus or a trolleybus, which can get you pretty much anywhere in the city, including the more distant areas. And it's cheap. And last but not least you can just use your feet because the whole city is about 1/6 of the size of Prague.
    In any case, you are more than welcome to visit Pardubice 😊

      @fernandaxavier6122 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I loved the tips, Jirka, thank you! About the communication, do you think I could visit Pardubice comfortably just with English?

    • @ko_tech
      @ko_tech 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fernandaxavier6122 Glad I could help 😊 I think it should be no problem, since there are a lot of international students, who also don't speak czech. The older ppl might not always understand you, but the younger generation speak just fine most of the time (or at least good enough). You'll definitely be able to go shopping, order a food or a coffee, buy a bus or a train ticket, etc. The only problem could probably be dealing with some officials. Also you can pay by card almost anywhere so use that instead of cash, wherever possible.

    Missing my Erasmus days in Pardubice... I had an ambition to visit as many places as possible in Czech lands:
    Pardubice, Prague, Kolin, Kutna Hora, Mlada Boleslav, Terezin, Olomouc, Ostrava, Cesky Tesin, Karvina, Cesky Krumlov, Ceska Trebova, Moravska Trebova, Hradec Kralove, Chrudim, Karlovy Vary, Plzen, Brno, Breclav, Snezka, Trutnov were the places that I spent time (either a couple of days or at least 4-5 hours). As a Turkish, I liked to explore Bohemia, Moravia and Silesianmoravia. I will never forget Ceske Drahy, RegioJet, Arriva and LeoExpress on those journeys...

    As a former foreign student in Czechia I can recommend the country itself as a beautiful, affordable and pleasant place to live as a student. I studied in Hradec Kralove which is right next to Pardubice and couldn't say a bad word about it (except the big ugly library right next to the old city center -.-). However make sure you get a lot of former students' opinions about the university you're interested in, because I had an overall unpleasant experience in the Charles' University faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove and left my studies there before finishing the first year. There was clear favoritism for local students over foreigners.

    An episode about Milovice would be nice. It's a small town 35 kms from Prague which isn't really interesting by itself but the history of the town is cool - it's rebuilt old soviet military base (that had a direct train connection with Moscow 32 years ago)... into a regular Prague suburb town.
    There is Mirakulum, country's largest and most popular amusement park which is like a Czech version of Disney land... the park is connected by a narrow-gauge railway with another huge adventure park that offers rides in old soviet tanks and other military vehicles. Right next to these parks is a very rare nature reserve with bisons, aurochs and tarpans, nowhere in the world found together at one place... to sum it up, there is also a nice popular Café place right at the town's railway station's vestibule - from there it's 15 minutes walk to the nature reserve.

    Great video! Thank you for mentioning the "Golden Helmet" motorcycle race, also known as Speedway. There is a annual Speedway Grand Prix in Prague... Please do a video about this. As it is visited by thousands of fans. It would also be good if you did videos about sport in Prague as well. All the best.

    I used to hear name of the city like ”party bitches” and I couldn’t imagine any place or sentence cooler than ”let’s go to Party, bitches!”

    We loved our visit to Pardubice, unfortunately getting touristed up, told my wife to enjoy it now, because it will not be the same when we return ☹️

    How is this possible? To be in Pardupice and not visit the wonderful castle and its surroundings. You must go there.

    Hi, Janek & Honza. Make a video about Pardubice and forget about Hradec Kralove? :) That hurts.

    Maybe the university of Pardubice can teach how Janek can keep a BMI of around 22 with a daily calorie intake of 8,000. I’m sure student numbers would soar!

      22? That's my BMI too, after I divide by 2!
