  • 🇯🇵 I wanted to see as much of Japan as possible so I decided to try hitch hike 247 miles from Osaka to Tokyo. On the adventure we get to meet Japanese people, try some Japanese food and see the country as we drive North. Will I make it?

    I know this was a year ago but pro-tip.... NEVER say "I don't like it" in any country when someone has gifted you food especially in Japan. It makes the person who gave it feel really bad (i know hindsight is 20/20) but practice instead a response like "Oh wow that's interesting" or "Oh I never tasted that before." Much much much more polite.

    Very interesting, Dan! Going to Tokyo (from Toronto, Canada) next week and I do want to document some of the things I see on video- places and friends, most are musician friends. And, obviously there are some amazing sights and so on. But I don't think of what I'm doing as 'touristy'. Never rode a tour bus, never been in a tour group nor any of that. But I've toured various places in bands I've been in throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Like yourself, I agree about meeting people and how wonderful it can be, and I've been in some pretty rough places too, and often some of the people there were the friendliest. I did a lot of that (and hitchhiking across Canada, and from Berkeley California to Vancouver) when I was 19. But I've got to capture some of these 'new' memories on video. I thought I saw a Sony X3000 in one shot of this or another video of yours. I hope to do some drinking and have some fun with friends in Japan. I have an X3000 myself, and maybe should bring that, as it looks pretty sturdy should I drop it or something! Thanks for reminding me that I have one!

    I got a recommendation Dan. The discord right now is locked for subscribers (correct me if im wrong, and if i am, disregard the rest) - id suggest having the discord public to build the community among your frequent viewers and you, but have special subbed channels in the discord where maybe you give people additional info on your current whereabouts, or snapshots into future vids/special reels, and also still absolutely keep the whatsapp behind a sub (that will get too much if you begin to pickup numbers). But i think you'd builld a stronger community by having the discord public and posting it on every video description to make one-time viewers into long-time viewers.
    Just my 2 cents from a well-meaning place.

    • @thelifeline3881
      @thelifeline3881 ปีที่แล้ว

    Japanese seems very interested in foreign people. Been looking through a whole bunch of videos of the topic and it seems like most visitors on vacation never speaks to the locals (besides staff at stores/restaurants) and thus they get very curious. Kinda sad when you think about it.
    It doesn't help that they have a hard time with English, even though they spend quite a lot of time with it in school. From my understanding they mostly learn grammar and writing, but very little listening/reading/talking.
