My Father designed and build the Golf Course. I was with him and in the first year I was managing the golf course. After that year the owners decided to hire a "golf company" to run the golf course... that was a terrible mistake. It is devastating see a golf resort that once had life, now is completely dead. Great video

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I'm glad you enjoyed the video - such a shame the golf course was never finished. Many thanks for watching and stay safe :)

Being a golfer and that there are many abandoned golf resorts like this and that a lot of people have lost money on the pretext that this was probably going to be a premier resort. Shattered dreams comes to mind. Thanks for these videos Shaun.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you Nic, you're right - lot of people lost their hard earned money and never going to get their dream. It's always interesting that these places are still being planned along the coast, even now! Glad you enjoyed the video! Many thanks for watching and have a great weekend :)

Gosh, what is it with Spain and building resorts and abandoning them? Surely these places could be put to good use somehow? Your video is a real eye opener, thanks for sharing mate.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you Adrian, they keep building these places sometimes without planing permission and then get stopped! Even today there are plans to build more of these places along the coast. Glad you liked the video! Many thanks for watching and have a great weekend :)

I don't think it's like that any more. Thanks to the return of building and the resurgence of the real estate world. Many places in the region that were dead in 2019 have been resurrected.
Has this place made it to this day?
    Thank you.

Hi, unfortunately not, still over grown and the golf resort opposite is still not finished. Thankfully some places have, I've a video out next Tuesday, that has been finished and are up for sale. Many thanks for watching :)

Thank you Annette for watching the video - I'm sorry to hear about you lost your dream home. I've been covering the area looking at these abandoned places, most without planing permission. I hope you get your money back - So was this part of the La Tercia Golf Resort which is just across the road? I can't find any information about this site as I know on the La Tercia site they were building Phase 2 when the crash happened. I hope you get it sorted one day. Many thanks for watching :)

I’m always amazed how these abandoned properties are accessible to the public in your parts. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area. It would be fenced off and demolished in a matter of weeks.
Unfortunately, we have a bad homeless issue here. People living on the sides of the highways and along creeks. The Google’s, Apple’s, Tesla’s etc. have priced out people and forced them to seek shelter in these areas.
Anyway-Well done! Shaun. I like the various camera shots from below and above.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you Al, they are starting to demolish these places once they get the money - one I did a while ago has gone back to farm land but the people who invested in these places are still fighting to get there money back! Wish I could say they have stopped doing this - there is a few big new complexes being built - I'm waiting to capture them on camera! Many thanks for watching and have a great weekend :)

Thanks again Shaun for an interesting video. I wonder if more resorts are being planned why aren’t these abandoned ones finished off and sold, it would seem an obvious thing for a developer to do?

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you and good question - some of these sites didn't have full planing permission and the courts close them and with debts, no one wants to take them on and others, the money ran out and left many people who invested money into the property never got their home1 I wish I could say this down;t happen anymore but have seen some one ones are being built!!! Glad you liked the video. Many thanks for watching and have a great weekend :)

Very interesting Shaun - I find these places fascinating. I guess there are only so many golf resorts one area can carry. With La Tercia, Sierra Golf and El Valle all nearby, just to name 3, is there a need for another.? Also Mosa Golf is supposedly reopening too and that’s in the same general area. Another place to visit - I’ve got enough for several holidays now. Just as well my husband likes driving!

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you Kate, glad you enjoyed the video - I've still got a few more golf resorts to capture and somebody else mentioned Most golf - I've added it to the list! Many thanks for watching and have a great weekend :)

We bought off plan at LaTercia Real around 15 years ago. You are quite right, it is nothing to do with United Golf across the road. The resort was going to be beautiful with tree lined boulevards and a mix of traditional looking villas unlike the concrete monoliths on the adjacent resort. Sadly the recession hit around 2007 shortly after they started building and Piensa pulled the plug. We were lucky enough to have a decent lawyer who insisted on a bank guarantee and we got our deposit back quite quickly. Others I believe weren't so lucky.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you Gordon for your comment, it's very hard trying to get information about developments and nice to get a reply from somebody who was going to buy here. Thankfully you got your money back. Many thanks for watching and stay safe :)

Its interesting these locations as you do wonder just "why". As a lot of these can be put to use even today unless they have structural issues and I can understand finance issues but isn't it better than a blot on the landscape?

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you Matt, some of these sites build before full planing permission and are stopped by the courts and others just run out of money leaving the investor picking up the bill and it'd still going on!!! Keeps me busy checking them out! Many thanks for watching and have a great weekend :)

Where does Camposol get its water? Are some of these abandoned developments abandoned because promised water rights were never granted, or later revoked? In the western USA, water availability is generally what limits growth.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you Rob, our water comes from the sea and the water for the farming areas come from the north of Spain. Most of the abandoned developments was not having the correct planing permission and lack of investment to finish the developments. Many thanks for watching and have a great weekend :)

Expat in Mazarron thanks for the info. That makes a lot of sense, are desalination plants solar powered? Desalination is not very common in the US (yet).

This resort was called Le Tercia real. It's got nothing to do with United golf resort which is opposite, so it's not phase 2 or even 3! The idea of these videos showing people around different resorts is great but why don't you research the areas before making the video? You seem to give quite a negative impression of some of the these places when in actuall fact they have alot going for then if you were to speak to some of the residents.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you Simon, as the title says - Abandoned Golf Resort, no one lives here as they never finished them except the show villas. La Tercia is opposite, maybe you need to watch this video th-cam.com/video/o_Th_w0fIUE/w-d-xo.html
Many thanks for watching and have a great week :)

@ Hi Shaun, I've watched the video, and like I said, the 3 abandoned villas is/was going to be Le Tercia Real, the resort opposite is totally separate which is United Golf resorts (UGR). Except for the 2 apartment buildings by the rear entrance which have had problems with footings the rest of the complex comprises of good quality spacious villas and apartments with lovely pool and garden areas and yes I know you've done a video on this too. I'm not critasizing your videos but making a point that getting some factual info on these places first would be great and possibly beneficial to potential buyers if they were to be looking in this area or any area you decide to do a video. So keep it up and I'll definitely keep watching.
      Simon

Thank you for the information Simon and now I can add this in the info below the video. I do explain on most videos I've got no info or just some but thanks to people like you, I can update and in a few years time go and re-visit and see if anything has changed. Many thanks for your help and keep watching :)
