Adjusted for today's value it would be roughly $75,000. The scam item is a 1st Edition Base booster box. I go through and actually open booster packs as well. All of this occurred over 4 years ago. I have had the box locked away for many years. Until today. Watch until the end to learn how to avoid this Pokemon card scam.

About a few months ago i bought someone's old collection with potentially really good cards. Got a message a few days later that he was about to send me the binder, but his son threw it in the bathtub. Uhm ok dude... Not as bad as losing 10k obviously, but still sucked

I almost experienced this story. As soon as you said back in 2016 a guy from north carolina, I was like "Oh boy"! I saw this listing on ebay back then and tried to gather $10,000 to go meet him. I was so upset for the past 4 years that I was unable to get it. Thank you for posting this video, because now i finally have closure. I'm sorry that it happened to you, but I'm glad to see that you persevered through it and managed to get to where you're at now.
You could have reported him to police with all that info. That's not petty theft either.

It is always unfortunate when scams happen (I've had it happen twice, but on much smaller $ products), but you have really picked yourself up from that loss and you seem to be doing very very well now and have grown from it. Dude this is such a sad video. Getting scammed is such a tough thing to go through, because someone is KNOWINGLY, INTENTIONALLY, stealing your hard earned money for their own benefit. That part makes it hurt even more than just the monetary loss. Glad you bounced back to become to stud you are today😎

I won two boxes way back in a tournament. I opened them and unboxed a charizard. I thought I did really well on it. Now I see the prices and wish I had kept them factory sealed.

The Magic cards are all from sets released in 2010. A non-foil Necrotic Ooze is worth $2.50; Semblance Anvil is worth about $6.50 , non-foil. (11/2020 TCGplayer prices). Both of these cards are still frequently played in the Commander Format. The other ones are worth pennies, even the foil dryad's favor, foil traitorous instinct, and foil Forest.
After watching your other stuff and clicking on this one by accident I can tell you really put yourself out here for this video. You’re a good person to not only move on but to push hard and become as successful as you are today. You deserve every single sub you have and I consider you the best face for the community. You’re a stand up dude and it shows in your work. Pokerev > Leonhart all day.
Sorry for your loss man. I’m wanting to start collecting vintage booster boxes and this is what I fear. I’ve heard too many stories of people being scammed out of thousands of dollars.

I am a very involved and avid Magic player, I keep up with all of the latest cards and sets and play multiple times a week, unfortunately, those cards aren't worth anything. I'm very sorry to hear about this, I got scammed a few years ago working at a restaurant by a company claiming to be one of our utility companies (leaving the name out intentionally) and I remember that sinking, devastating feeling when you realize what happened. It's like nothing you'll ever feel again in your life and I feel for you. Sorry dude!

Damn I feel you I got scammed on my end as well. Was a really hard time to get over but gotta bounce back strong. I was scammed for hefty amount but I was able to educate the hypebeast group on what to look out and we were all able to fish out the scammers and cleanse out the group.

This was painful to watch I’m glad you didn’t let that setback stop you from collecting and becoming one of the coolest collectors I’ve ever seen I still have some rare Pokémon cards but their all open and in my binder. I wish I would have collected sealed boxes.

I'm so sorry to see this and trust me I say I feel you to the fullest extent. No matter what the hobby or business, there are always those whom would rather take the shorter dishonorable route than the fulfilling and hard working route. Less detrimental situation happened to me last year when I spend like 220 on a blister with 3 ex series booster packs and when I got it they were all opened. I wasn’t able to get a return
A lot of people dont understand when it comes to Pokemon cards, especially when it comes to vintage and look at you like your crazy when spending as much.
But they dont take in the factor that it's a worldwide thing and there's so many collectors that find these as gems, especially me!!

This is crazy. I remember this happening around the time, but it was a european seller who was selling to people through bank wire. I didn't know you had been scammed through it. I"m glad this didn't push you out of Pokemon.

I saw so many friends buying fake boxes so much they just ended up either losing all there money or straight up got mocked and then silenced they ended either quitting buying Pokemon booster boxes, and some learned the hard way after me telling them there fake and also just not feeling the buyer is being a truthful person to them.

me and my brother shared a tin of pokemon cards as a kid, i think we bought a few packs over the years. i'm not super into the card collecting anymore, but it makes me sad to see how people use something fun and nostalgic like pokemon cards as a way to steal money from people. i hope you eventually got/get a legit one.
Im pretty sure Shadowless unlimited boxes have no wizards logo's on the wrap either. Sorry this happened to you man but i am happy you have bounced back from it. Some of those commons could be worth something if you get them graded. There are collectors out there for everything
It happens to the best of us bro . When i was young i got scam out of 120 bucks for some fake shoes that i earned from cutting grass in texas in the summer time and i was pissed . But thats life you have learn from your mistakes and you become a better man from it .

That sucks dude, its more than just the money its the trust in the hobby, most of us in the game have been scammed at some point including myself and it really makes you want to stop collecting...fortunately there are more good guys and gals than bad guys and gals which keeps us going! He may have but it sounds to me since they did a personal transaction off ebay there isnt history he brought it so sadly its way to hard to get any redemption from this. Thats only based that the situation happened like that. If the transaction happened on ebay yes you could report it.
Ebay has purchase protection if he went through them.
Edit he paid cash and met the person. Big mistake never do that if you arent ok losing the money.
If there is evidence that transaction occurred and ample evidence to suggest that fraud was committed, there is justification for law suite...

So sorry it happened. This happened to me with a regular base set box. Everything checked out and then when opened all packs had nail gun glue on them.

I feel your pain ......the Pokemon family card collection got scammed at Walmart as u know we are trying to finish hidden fates so we found the Charizard and Gyarados collection box something was fishy about the packs but it's Walmart so we bought them got home and the box was reglued together and the packs were open but glued back together and all the rares and if any shinys were pulled ....I know that wasn't 10000 but not having much money to start this channel feels just like 10000 to us but we keep it positive and said now we have 20 dollar big Charizard and Gyarados cards for the big card collection ......once again sorry to hear the bad news I felt it inside for u hope God blesses u for your lost .
The best part of this is at this point in time, of most of those grade well, you easily make more than you lost back. So I guess everything worked out in the end 🥺

I'd still open them all and hope for a pack with a note saying "hey. Yea, I scammed you and kept 99% of the valuable cards but because u were willing to open them all, here is a 1st edition 200k charizard". Hey, it could happen......

Unfortunately all the time that’s why I no longer buy loose packs due to weighing I’ve had resealed products. I’ve even had stuff from local store that had been opened rares missing then put back. Never lost out on $10,000 scam though
