There is a "Denzel Ending" of this movie that the director decided not to go with. In Denzel's preferred ending, Creasy inserted one of the suppository bombs in himself, and when he's face to face with the main villain of the movie, Creasy smiles, and the bomb goes off.
My favorite line in this film: "Creasy's art is death, and he's about to paint his masterpiece." That's about the best announcement of coming vengeance I've ever heard.

There's at least one like it - the original from 1987. Starring Scott Glenn as Creasy. Overall, the remake is a better picture, but it also had a much bigger budget and a better director (ironically the Denzel remake was directed by Tony Scott who was SUPPOSED to direct the original, but the studio felt Tony wasn't experienced enough).

I hate that he died at the end. I cried when I saw this for the first time. He was such a super hero in this movie. I LOVE Denzel. As an actor and human being. He’s a really good man in real life too.
You didn’t have it in your reaction video here but when Denzel’s character says to the old man, “Forgiveness is between them and God. It’s my job to arrange the meeting.” It’s one of the most badass movie quotes ever.
This is an impressive action thriller where a bodyguard gets revenge on a girl's kidnappers. It's also a remake of the 1987 film of the same name, which stars Scott Glenn and Joe Pesci.
There's an 80s movie called Glory that stars Denzel when he was younger, and Morgan Freeman, based on the first all-black regiment in the civil war war. A true story, definitely worth watching.
@@johndessoye I saw a movie on Prime Video called 'The 24th' that was similar. Doesn't necessarily leave black people looking good in the end, but I mean the whole story is pretty nuanced, and based on a true story. Worth checking out if you're into those types of movies.
Denzel Washington is the absolute man probably the best actor in my opinion The Man shows so much real emotion in his film. Also that little girl did such an amazing job her emotions felt extremely real as well
25:30 He had a kidnapping insurance policy with AIG, but one of the stipulations of the policy is that he retain a bodyguard. He was so far in debt he couldn't afford a bodyguard at the going rate, so Emilio left & he got Creasy on the cheap. He did that just long enough to do the insurance scam to cover his debts, but things went sideways.
To answer your question at the end, the dad needed a bodyguard so the insurance would pay out in the case of a kidnapping. So he tried to get a bad one so the fake kidnapping would work, then insurance would pay the "kidnappers," which is really just him.
D! One of my favorite films of all time! You think Creasy is smooth? Denzel in The Equalizer is next level smooth. If you haven't seen it - check out his bad ass in that one. I'm so glad you watched MOF & loved it!
I've heard many like to say Training Day being Denzel's best but in my opinion this is his best. Or perhaps at the very least my favorite. The ending wrap up of this film always gets me to break up man...
Def one of his best along with remember the Titans, training day, and little known Fallen which he should react to cause nobody does and it’s soooooo good.
Instant thumbs up for me, so rare to see a reaction vid of this! And I agree about Denzel being the best of the best....in the west! Here in the east, I would say Tony Leung from Hong Kong is on par with Denzel. Oh if only there was a movie with the both of them either as partners or antagonists 🤪
he needed a security detail as part of the terms of the kidnapping insurance policy he bought. It happened so often that there was a market for that kind of insurance which of course guaranteed it would continue to go on. His lawyer talked him into the insurance fraud scam to get out of his debt. Wouldn't surprise me if he was originally his father's lawyer and probably gave shitty counsel contributing to his father's wealth being lost.
DUDE! thanks you so much for the reaction, and i'm only 3 min in. Denzel is consistently awesome; BUT! if you like this movie go to the story teller TONY SCOTT, Denzel worked with him at the least 4 other times. I have a hard time believing a person of your greatness hasn't seen this. If that's true, I'm not sure I want to live in a world where goat reactors somehow forgot to react to this.
One of my favorite parts of this movie was when he blew the dude’s hand off then told Daniel he was gonna tear his family apart. You could really feel how much Lupita meant to him throughout the movie, but especially in that moment. Denzel always gives such amazing and chilling performances
Danzel and morgan are on the same level IMO. They are 2 different charakters but both are that kind of guy, if they talk, you listen and if they give you addvise, you follow.
Great reaction my friend! I love Denzel! Please react to another Denzel movie, The Book of Eli! Takes place in an apocalyptic future, Denzel's on a mission, also starring Gary Oldman!
this is top tier Denzel. will always be my favorite movie of his just because of how bad ass he is. Also - check out the alternate ending. you get your wish.
39% on Rotten Tomatoes. Really tells you the mindset of critics at that time - there was a lot of criticism about it being too positive on revenge. This is why I say you can't go by critic scores. Too many people caught up on the zeitgeist and don't view movies in the right mindset. Speed Racer 2008 was also a film that got caught up in this.
I love your reactions, and obviously, I’m a little late to this party. This is one of my favorite movies, and someone may have commented in the comments or sub comments. The body guard had left because he got offered more money, and the father hadn’t gotten another body guard because he was so far in debt. The attorney was telling the father that he had a ransom policy for $10M, but he would not be able to renew the ransom insurance policy if he didn’t have a body guard (one of the conditions of the policy). The policy was something probably along the lines of if the you or your child is kidnapped, the insurance policy will pay up to $10M of ransom money. So what they were doing, and even the kidnappers partial participation was an insurance scam. The kidnappers take the kid, don’t injure them (too bad, one lost an ear), and they hold them while the insurance company gets the funds together, and they go through the motions of an exchange for the money. The kidnappers would get half, and the family would sneakily (through the lawyer) get the other half. The attorney stole the money before the exchange, and the dirty cop wanted to get the full amount of the other half, and killed the nephew of La Voz. When that happened, the kidnappers were all about just selling her away, etc. So essentially dad agreed because he didn’t think there was any risk to his daughter and that he and the attorney would get $5M between the two of them. It still makes for a terrible and greedy father, instead of changing their lifestyle, etc. or just moving. Great reaction.

Especially since the original has a different ending, and is set in Italy instead of South America. One interesting tidbit is that Tony Scott (who directed the remake with Denzel) was supposed to direct the 1987 film, but the studio felt he didn't have enough experience.
He asks in the beginning if Walken's character thinks god will forgive them for what they've done. I'd like to think that he was forgiven for how he chose to go out. Saving two girls, and putting an end to all those scumbags.
Dakota was great, but if you haven't seen it already, I suggest, Leon: The Professional, Natalie Portman's debut, and it's Oscar worthy! The whole movie is like a master class showcase of acting, as it is also, one of Gary Oldman's most iconic roles and French actor Jean Reno, is phenomenal in a nearly silent role, having to rely almost entirely on physical acting alone.
Great reaction again. I think a lot of people miss that it was his renewed faith in the God of the Bible, after his failed suicide attempt, that turned his life around. And of course God used the little girl as well to help him love again. Powerful movie.
No one knew his state of mind so it was easy for Creasly to be all in and go all out being that he was a suicidal bodyguard, and at the end he died his own way
"I hate that he died at the end." --> I mean, he could have died at the beginning but it would have changed the movie. (lol, great reaction to a great movie)
