Thank you very much for the tech today. I changed my wheel hub bearing for free labor, plus everyone likes his video sports for him. Good guy for nice record and tech for free. Just were needed like his or other good mechanic videos
Thanks for the video. I just did this on a '15 spark with basic tools. Rock auto has the hub w/bearing installed and you can get a pack of OEM toner(abs) rings for 3 bucks.. no need to fight with the old crusty toner ring just put a new one on the new hub.. easy peasy.
Thanks for the video Brian. You are the only one I can find that shows how to remove the ABS ring. I don't quite agree with your fix but if it works for you what does it matter. Good luck with all your repair work.
Did both rear hubs last weekend. Purchased GSP hubs that had ABS rings already installed. Completed BOTH in 20 minutes. Unstaking spindle nuts took too long, that was time waster. Purchased new spindle nuts from dealer. $8 Thanks for the video!
Where can I buy GSP Hubs? What part number did u use ? I have 2013 spark. Amazon site says the GSP HUBS Don’t fit Chevy spark. CarID site says it fits but reviews for customer service are not fantastic specially specially for returns.
I ran into the same problem with the abs tone ring. I went around the new hub with a hammer and punch to give it something to bite on too. Hopefully it will be ok
What does the small screw in the drum do ? When i put the screw in , I can no longer spin the hub. It binds up. Remove the screw , and it spins freely again. Can i leave that screw out ? Doesn't seem like it is needed for anything.
So the screw holds the drum to the hub. I've put them on without before. However, it is there to check for binding. Adjust your brakes down to leave more room for spin clearance.
Hello and thank you for the demo. The rear set of my spark it is warped. When i rotate the drum there is a point where the drum creates friction with the brake shoes and the gas consumption is higher. do you think i can get it fixed with the change of hub and bearing or i need to change the spindle too? wich part is the weakest? Thank you for your opinion.
I would say change everything, depending on the mileage... the components are all on the smaller side, since the size of the car is lighter and smaller than most. So the metal is a lot less and Subject to warping from heat given off by the brakes. It is all simple enough to change and overall an inexpensive job to diy. Drums and rotors warp over time and due to heavy braking or continued braking going down hill, if you live in a hilly or mountain area.
@@GarageMahalLife thank you. Yes, everything is light in that car. Do you think the spindle it is easy for diy or has something not so simple in the process?
does it matter which way the tone ring goes on? I noticed on my moms 2013 Spark that there is a machined edge on poth sides of the tone ring but one side has more of an edge than the other side of the tone ring,
Is there anything special to know about the front? The guy at autozone said the steering column has to be dropped to replace the front. I just looked at him like he has 2 heads but didn't say anything. I went to Oreilly's and they said the same thing. Is that actually true? And if so, why?
Well depending on the model it will have a press in bearing instead of a hub. So you have to get the "knuckle" free, so you have to disconnect the tie rods for the steering rack. So kind of in a way...
gear puller might be necessary to pull bearing race from the old wheel hub if you're reusing it. and support the back of the bearing when pressing the hub back in, i blew a bearing race out my first time.

I like the attachment to the air hammer. I have never seen that before.
There are actually a bunch of air hammer attachments! :)
Thanks for the video. Hopefully it goes good for me tomorrow. 😊
Its pretty easy and straight forward, you got this!
Thank you. Learned a lot.

@@GarageMahalLifeI have a Chevy spark. Do all vehicles have the same bolts 32"cn to remove the bearings? 2:12
I was looking for this , thank you for this big help👍👍👍
Thank you for watching 😀
I appreciate your video. It's very helpful. But man, your garage stresses me out. I'm glad you can find something in there
Yeah, I get busy...

That should work, after it gets hit with some moisture it should "rust" into place.
Thank you 🙏 I fix my watching your video !

@Brian E. Niskala , I see. Thanks Brian.
@@FloridaKeysPirate You are welcome, thanks for watching and be safe.
I know it will take longer but would it be okay to do with a braker bar air tools are a little expensive
Yes absolutely, it is a smaller job so definitely do-able with hand tools and a decent breaker bar...
Hi, what size and type of screw is that? The small one you removed
At which part of the video?

@@ruimvp It is do-able... just be patient. Use a lot of WD40 to make sure everything comes lose pretty easy.

Match it as it comes off and then back on the same way.
What’s torque amount
It is year specific, Google your car year and trim level to get specific model torque settings.
I replaced both sides but now my abs light is on
Did you get the ones with the abs ring?
What size socket did you use for the castle nut?
32mm, fits just rights and surprisingly spun off without having to mess with the lock groove...
Awesome waiting on my hubs to show up in the mail, gonna replace both of the back ones on my spark👍
Also noticed there is no cotter pin locking the nut on?
I see now it has a lock groove👍
Thanks👍

@@bringerovdeath Yup, super easy to do! Glad you are safe after that, you can definitely get hurt with a flying race or pieces of it!
