Doris I just love how you can weave a story out of just about any item's history and significance. I always learn so much and I really appreciate the effort you put into teaching us about your passion. I have always been a lover of Antiques Roadshow and your videos (and LA Frock Stars) give me that same kind of vibe.
Would love to see a video where you focus on some of the items you have with interesting backstories rather than it having a theme in regards to time period or designer. Things that have been in TV/film, belonged to important people, are made out of rare or interesting materials, etc. I love all the quirky things you get and their stories are sometimes just as fascinating as the pieces themselves! Keep up the awesome work!

agreed, would love the know the stories, who it belonged to and by what kind of coincidence you acquired it. That is what makes vintage so interesting.

Hi Dearheart. I watched this two yrs ago, in it's entirety, and just re-watched it again. It was like enjoying well-seasoned left overs, (even better the next time.) 🤣 The difference? I went from "WOW! To "Wow and Eight months of avid collecting❣"
I now have beautiful and unique Taxco and Native American pieces. But, of course, nothing as incredible as yours (a girl can hope..and dream to aquire right.)😃 Thank you, Dear Doris...YOU inspire. 🌼

Awe, when you said " things wait for you". It reminded me of a heart shaped stone I have with a sterling 925 stamp in the center with a swan that says Sweden. I waited for 3 months for the price to go down at my local thrift store. I was 20. I could barely afford gas while in college, but I would visit that stone and it waited for me. Much love!

Silver jewerly reminds me of my mother, who grew up very poor here in Mexico, and when she finished school and started making money, she started her own silver jewerly collection, more than 40 years ago... Amazing designs and stories of the origin and paths of these pieces. I do have a weakness for jewelry along with a weakness in finances and a lack of time for flea markets. I find interesting pieces at the fair trade site, Novica. When I use the word "interesting" I mean designs that are not usually seen a clothing/accessory chain store. I love hearing how the pieces were acquired. History, whether of clothing, accessories and people, always fascinates me. Thanks so much for sharing!

I appreciated seeing this episode! Oh, the craftsmanship of those pieces!!!
I have had the rare and wonderful privilege of taking two college-level Art Metal classes from Dr Winona Alexander, so based on my own design projects in silver and copper, I KNOW the time and artisanship involved in making them. These were NOT made in a day, and very likely took several weeks to complete. I am in awe!
I, too, appreciate unique pieces, which gives me pride/pleasure when I wear my own designs...two silver lost-cast wax rings, one which has THREE ounces of silver in it (I'm a tall lady--5'11"--so dainty jewelry is not for me!), several smaller pieces, a 3 inch wide hammered copper cuff bracelet, and a corrugated copper foil hammered bowl.
Watching your video makes me want to get back in my workshop.

On the bus we got the chance to sit next to chickens and 🐓 roosters, as the bus 🚌 rode along a winding road. Taxco looks like a beautiful whitewashed city etched into the mountain, hence the etched silver jewelry 😇💝

Everything is just so beautiful! I especially love the amethyst stuff, branded and no signature alike. What u'r wearing is particularly lovely. My mom has a small snuff/pillbox much like the one u showed with amber. Nice to know what its origin must be. Thankyou for ur generosity in showing us, doris! Xoxo

I'm so glad you gave us a history lesson before you showed us your exquisite pieces. I would have spent the whole episode hung up on how many of the pieces reminded me of Arts & Crafts, and Deco architecture. Instead, I just relaxed and worked up a good envy!

Doris Raymond is basically the History Professor that we didn't know we need until we try her course "HISTORY 351 - Fashion's context and role in the late 19th and throughout the 20th centuries". Guys, take out your paper and write what she teaches down - you ain't gonna get it anywhere. Except there is no HW, Quiz, Mid Term and Final Exam (YAY!!!).
