  • We are talking all about the new Alpaka Vertex Sling bag - this thing might be...my favorite camera sling bag of all time. Not only does it hold my entire camera set up for travel - but it does so much more.
    Let’s talk about build quality, design and functionality.

    Thanks for this review, sold me on it I just ordered. I bought the Peak Design Everyday 3L but I found it did not have enough storage as an EDC/Travel bag. Tons of storage options on the Alpaka Vertex Pouch so I think this will be perfect for my trip soon.

    I purchased a leather ONA Rockaway after seeing your review and that is one great bag, I wish they still made it in the camouflage version because I'd get that one as well. I may get this Alpaka Vertex bag for my m11 as well. Keep up the great reviews, they're very helpful.

    Nice looking bag and great insights! Love that Axoflux stuff. Got me the Go Sling Nano Axoflux and it really feels nicer than any of my X-Pac pieces while having that super minimal and clean look. Alpaka rules these days!

    Ok I have been struggling to find a sling that is not too big or too small to hold my sony a6600 with a lens. I think this one is perfect. Great video

    I don’t see the ZV-1 camera tripod inside the bag. For vlogging purpose a tripod is Super important to go along my carry.

    Can you fit sony a7c with 2470 gm ii lens in that pouch?

    Feels like you're under utilizing it by using the main compartment as a huge dump pocket for the majority of your camera gear. I think a peak design sling does a way better job.
    This bag seems to more beneficial as a tech bag/desk caddy

      Yeah that’s a good point. I have the peak design sling. What I like is the shape and smaller foot print of this bag - especially since you can fit more stuff. Comes at the expenses of padding and rigid structure. But I’ve personally never had any issues with that - even for camera gear.

    Yo mate!
    I've been using for a few months the Peak Design Everyday Sling - 3L v2 and I'm so dmn happy with it. I think I'll have a go and have a look at this model you just mention bc it seems so dope!

      I have the 3L PD sling, I think it's better. This looks a bit cramped

  • @LL-zk2ny

    Some concerns:
    1. How is the padding for camera gears?
    2. Is there some padding between camera & lens when packed side-by-side?
    3. Is there anti-theft zipped pocket like many other Alpaka slings?

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Padding is pretty minimal - it’s not designed for camera gear - but it does have some minor coverage for normal tech. With that said - I’ve personally never had any issues with using non camera bags to hold camera gear. I carry my Leica Q2 in a small Tumi sling - and the camera itself is built tougher than most bags.
      You could add some padding between the camera and lens - I just have lens caps or filter covers. Both work fine for me.
      Yes - a few hidden anti theft pockets
      With the sling bags like this - they carry close to my body and don’t tend to get banged around. I kind of treat this the same way as a camera on a strap. So I’m not as worried about it and I don’t treat it like a throw around true camera backpack or sling for storage during travel. Which is why padding isn’t ever that big a deal for me with everyday camera carry

    I am very interested in the design and function of Alpaka's new pouch. However, one thing that concerns me is that wrinkle line appear when the front is folded.
    In your opinion, which of the two materials is more prone to wrinkle line at the folds? And do you think there is no need to worry that when folded repeatedly over a long period of time, the wrinkle line will become thicker and become unsightly or damaged?

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you’re worried about wrinkles - the X PAC version is better. But honestly - it’s not going to be an issue. Because the folding isn’t with some hard crease. It’s simply a gentle fold and the magnet just holds the flap in place.

    Do you by chance have the Alpaka Tech Case? I'm curious how this compares and which one you'd prefer.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! I do - so pretty different in use case. The tech case really is just that - a tech case. It has a clam shell style opening that lets you store all your tech gear and peripherals. Not designed to fit things like my cameras and is not the best design for sling carry. It’s something you pack up full of chargers, batteries, accessories and store in a backpack of carry on. I use it for all my small tech stuff.

    • @nolanperry
      @nolanperry 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ItsDesmond Thank you! It sounds like the Vertex is the better "do everything" solution, while the Tech Case is more specialized toward one use.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nolanperry yup - I still use the tech case for when I travel. It usually goes in my carry on packed full of cables and other non essentials. The Vertex would be something filled with my essential camera gear or tech carry and in my pack back or as my personal item.

    This is suppose to be a review of a camera bag, and this guy doesnt mention what kind of camera he put in the bag os you can get an idea. Instead he mentions all the specific name of apple products he put in there. This video sucks - thumb down. I dont need to watch this video -until the end.
