The EU2200i Companion 30 amp plug won’t even function without being paralleled with the EU2200i (non-companion) or a compatible EU2000i generator. And the Companion 115 plug will only function at 15 amps without parallel hookup vs 20 amps with parallel hook up. Without a doubt, these are both great generators, but your review didn’t even address the parallel functions or requirements for maximum output. If you are only gonna buy 1 of the 2 generator’s, the. Buy the less expensive EU2200i. If you occasionally need the 30amp function of the companion, you will to parallel it with the regular EU2200i or a compatible EU2000i. Meaning 2 generators are required. The above Info is what most future product purchaser would want to be informed about, prior to his or her purchase. I was about to buy the portable Cummins p2500i but I wasn't sure it had the Honda reliability and durability. I heard Cummins generators the small newer ones had problems made in China and not a real Cummins everlasting proven name. Glad I bought the older Honda 1000 and one older Honda 2200 and a newer Bluetooth 2200 3 prong plug generator. Not sure about the 3 prong plug newer 2200 Honda if you can't run full power unless paralleled. I may have to take it back. I haven't even fired the newest 2200 Bluetooth generator up yet.
I have an Onan/Cummins propane generator in my camper and it is causing me issues. Really thinking about this 2200i model. Not sure whether to get the regular or the Companion. I like that the Companion is set up for plugging in a camper but I have an adapter that simply plugs into a regular outlet or cord. In looking at Honda's page, it appears that the Companion no longer has the 12 volt plug in. Is that an issue? I am thinking the Companion may be my best bet. Just thinking if i needed to jump or power batteries, what is a good solution for that?
I’m not sure on the part number but I know the non Bluetooth version of the eu2200 has the 12v plugs. The companion and the new standard Bluetooth version of the 2200 got rid of the 12v
@@atvrepairsandmore2482 The EU2200i does have the DC Charging port. The EU2200i Companion does not have the DC Port as it’s main focus is to offer parallel function with the EU2200i mentioned above and reach 30amp capability.
@@awwjr29 I’m not talking about the Companion just the regular model. I contacted Honda and they said the old model had 12v charging ports but people didn’t like it because it could overcharge the battery. There was no cut off. New model has a CO detector instead of 12v ports

12 v battery charger plugged into your companion 110 when running
Every EU2200i I look at has parallel ports but in your video I see 12v charging ports. Are there different part #'s to distinguish the two? Thanks

get two companions
These must be older versions as they don’t have outlet covers and no Bluetooth.

I would probably go with the companion. You could always buy a regular battery charger that plugs into a 120v plug. They are inexpensive to buy
