- A patient treated by Dr. Reese and April has secretly been lying to one of her closest friends with her spilling the beans whilst being treated. Her friend storms out leaving her lonely.
Season 2 Episode 8 "Free Will"
Dr. Halstead and Dr. Manning meet a patient, who is in need of a kidney transplant. His brother is a match, but he is HIV positive. Meanwhile, April finds out that she is pregnant but fears her TB treatment will harm her baby. Dr. Rhodes and Dr. Robyn Charles begin to flirt much to Dr. Charles' dismay. Also, Dr. Reese receives devastating news that her patient Danny has died and Dr. Choi tends to a convict patient.

There are many different reasons, judging by what we see in this clip I’d assume the answer would be feeling lonely and getting drunk.
They were having a rough time because of her studies meaning they rarely saw each other, het got lonely, went to a party (probably with friends which could well include the best friend), they have fun, get drunk 1 thing leads to another...
On the other hand, maybe her friend always liked him. Maybe they both felt cut off from her and ended up hanging out mire and started to like each other, etc. There are a bunch of answers. Cheating is never right but mistakes happen. Whether you can trust them after that depends on the people involved I suppose. As people get older they should have better judgements and know their limits.

This show is so inaccurate. It starts with the fact that a 4th year medical student is seeing patients and prescribing things left and right without an attending. At least make her a 1st year resident.
