So this is why people considered Chrono Trigger, OneShot, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Elden Ring to be the greatest video games in the world.
fr not many games last this long especially without updates, the only ones I can think about is street fighter 3rd strike (thats the one that evo moment 37 happened on probably the greatest gaming clip of all time th-cam.com/video/JzS96auqau0/w-d-xo.html) and street fighter 2 and street fighter 4 and probably not gonna be street fighter 5 lol, and of course super smash bros melee, and marvel vs capcom 2, and 3, king of fighters 13, older guilty gears, and I think old halo games, mega man battle network, and a few others, these are truely some of the greatest games of all time
Tf2 has diehard fans who would and have immersed themselves in this game for well over 10 years and counting, a good portion of their life at this point. That alone should say enough.
One of the best games ever. Played thousands of hours in my teens, came back after a 6 year break. First day back I ran into the guy who introduced me to the game, 13 years ago. In love with it again, the comp scene is dwindling but still evolving. Flawless game and great video 🙏
You missed my number one reason why tf2 is perfect: the humor. Whether its something that happens to me, or something that happens to someone else, or something that someone says or does. Even just a perfectly timed random voice line. Every time I play tf2 I lol at least once. Most shooters are stressful where every time I play tf2 I am relaxed and in good mood. At least for a little while:) Enjoyed this video, subscribed:)
To add onto your point about the maps, there are a lot of experimental ideas put into maps that I simply don't think would've been made if the game was more competitive driven. You've got CP_Standin, where there's three points that have to be capped simultaneously in order to win. You've got CP_Steel, where the last point is open to be captured at the very start of the round, and capturing preceding points makes capturing the last point easier. You've got the entire game mode of Player Destruction, something completely community made and is the closest to a team deathmatch mode that TF2 will ever get (Arena doesn't count). You've got CP_Snowplow, TC_Hydro, SD_Doomsday, Degroot Keep, etc. These are all maps that I feel like wouldn't have been made if the game didn't feel so casual, because people will complain and moan about this map not being competitively viable or that map not being competitively viable. But thanks to TF2's just general casualness, there's more experimentation. Although one thing I would like to note as a correction to your video, KOTH is played in competitive, although it is more popular in Highlander compared to 6v6. To be fair, though, I don't think I've ever seen Suijin being played competitively.
Yeah, game being so casual and not restricting whatsoever allows for a lot of stuff, both wack as hell and competetive as you please. Everyone gets something that they can enjoy without someone else raging that they aren't playing the way *they* want you to play. _Well you still get to hear those but they aren't really relevant all that much, they just get ignored and go back to their third party strict competetive servers and balance is restored again._
The TH-camr Funke also describes my same points in a video he made on movement FPS, and his way of describing it is brilliant, since he made a rap about it. Very cool stuff.
3:40 The Sniper is calm, always focused and patient. But in-game, you need to be calm, focused and patient to hit headshots. Oh and, both The Sniper and the playstyle is always being polite, efficient and always having a plan to kill everyone you meet, even your teammates because they might be a spy.
To be a good player, you have to do more than just know how to use the weapon, put yourself in the shoes of the moment, know what you should do and think in time. *Skill beats luck"

Unpopular opinion, ctf is the best mode in tf2 and 2fort is one of my all time favorite maps. Not because it turns into a team death match, but because of how wild the interactions can be. You got some engineers that are rancho relaxing on the bridge, a soldier/medic combo trying to eradicate the opposing team, some heavy just chilling in a corner with a sandvich the entire game, pyro sharks (I spent a lot of time being a human fish), and it’s all amazing af. The whole game has that wackiness fs, but without the push to play objectives it just turns into one big chill session. I do wish the 2fort revamp had a bigger player base tho, cause that’s where the map really shines with all the different routes it adds
Yeah and it's honestly the only game where this kind of wacky interactions _are pretty much encouraged_ You're not told to focus down the objective, even for contracts it doesn't care whatsoever if you win or loose a match, just finish it You're not even expected to really be all that coordinated with your team, yet the game just _works_ with the 12v12 free for all clusterfuck where the objective is just the dedicated spot to blow each other up.
I wish 2fort was a little bigger though. CTF maps like well and sawmill are my favourite due to their size. I hate doublecross though because it's too sniper friendly. Landfall is mid. Turbine is even smaller than 2fort so it gets a little boring.
honestly games like this are just awesome, I mean the kind of game that can survive without updates, I hate when a complaint about a game is the lack of updates rather than saying they need to fix/balance it, there are only a few games that can go this far without updates, like smash melee, street fighter 2 3 and 4, marvel vs capcom 2 3 and maybe 4, minecraft 1.8.9 if you count that lol, megaman battle network, some of the old kof and guilty gear games, and I think maybe some of the old halos and cod ( I dont know about these games, I tf2 might be the only shooter like this lol), honestly I wont play a game if I think I need it to be continually updated, which has the downside of when it is, it tends to be a different game, like how fortnite season 3 feels so different from whatever chapter or whatever we are on now, I think continuous might actually be harming a few games, like paladins removing their 3rd person camera for reasons, it was the only hero shooter at the time that allowed for 3rd person and third person was not very common when paladins came out, but other than that tf2 is such a great game
It's amazing to think about how TF2's quality allowed it to have still has this strong a fanbase 15 years after it was first released while some "live service" games don't even last a single year.

TF2, in its current state, is an example of brilliance ruined by idiots. Fantastic game, weird-ass fanbase, and some dumb script kiddies mixed with a touch of complete developmental abandonment. I still love it with all my heart.
If Valve wasnt completely retarded, this game wouldv been bigger than GTA, and wouldv had a Rick and Morty tier MASSIVE fucking TV show. Adult Swim was litterally BEGGING Valve to make a TF2 show for years, and Valve didnt meet the contract cus they were quite litterally LAZY. And even then??? 1:51 so true! I can't get it off my computer even through the last 11 backstabs streaks I pull was from 16 years ago. I still come back and watch others play. I don't like the new games like PubG or Apex legend. TF2 put you right into the action. You never have to run around to looks for scrapes like a bum 😅
I think there’s a bunch that makes TF2 special, but probably the best part is a mix of interclass relationships inside game modes and maps, how each class allows for individual play, and prioritizing fun while allowing for depth. Every class is incredibly deep in how they can be played. Even heavy who is probably the most linear class is made deeper due to his relationship to the rest of the game. Each class interacting with each other ends up creating this tapestry of interactions that can’t be summed up in a short TH-cam comment, and it’s presentation and execution make the game endlessly funny and entertaining. On top of this, TF2 doesn’t fall into the trap of forcing your character to rely on others to complete their job. Sure, engineers benefit from strong team mates and medics require heal targets, but there is no part of their functions which require their primary gameplay loop to depend on another player. Every player is doing their own fun loop and they just happen to commingle extremely well. Lastly, TF2 prioritizes fun over most everything else. Good competitive games are great and all, but the majority of players prefer fun over competition. That’s why goofy loadouts and “unbalanced” maps and weapons create situations for that chaotic, silly interaction.
You can argue that while people do in fact prefer fun over competitiveness, people still want competitiveness at least sometimes, so if the game can deliver that, it can become an industry giant. Games like CS:GO are be both fun and competitive, then pair it with the unlimited potential of an in-game economy and you can see why it is one of the top games on steam.
@@ArticianTf2 does the same thing, valve just doesn't do shit for the tf2 comp community. It's still there in quite the large quantity and is consistently in the highest players on the charts, but if valve did a bit better at comp they could have made a lot more. Ah well.

The intro actually made me thought that I accidently opened up Half-Life 2 LOL. Also, MewZe from which software did you edit the head turn 5:34, it was actually pretty good.
TF2 was my first ever FPS game. I sadly started in 2018 which was around the time there were no updates, but, this first fps game I played had good lore and music, such amazing content creators (SoundSmith, Mr Paladin, SkyminSlash, NISLT, MewZe etc.), and has an amazing community. I play other games now, but the communities will never top TF2. I do still do play this game once in a while and still love it a lot. I love TF2. I also heard the soldier theme used quite a lot, and I would like to say, rest in peace Rick May ❤
I want to create a class based game like tf2 because there are not many classbased shooters that give a casual experience (which has updates) so like none at all. It would have just 7 classes but with many different weapons with my own spin. it probably would be bad but if I ever get into game development thats what I want to make. What do you think should I add?
Look at that- another man who thrusts himself forward to bump shoulders with the likes of LazyPurple and Uncle Dane! Amazing video! Looking forward to more with this excellent style that perfectly combines comedy and fantastic points made in the game’s favor!

Very nice video and editing also i didn’t expect you to show footage of tc2 lol
Ah well.
This editing on this video is way too good, that channel is a classic "1 million" one.
*proceeds to check the sub count in utter confusion of how fucking underrated it is*

@@MewZeTeam Fortress 2 is a legitimate masterpiece (though Half-Life 2 is the best Valve game). But I've been thinking, do you want to guess my Top 3 least favourite Valve games?
Have you ever been a friendly hoovy, it’s very nice to try and make the server dance :)

I totally agree I have loved this game since my older brother first showed it to me when I was six and I would sit there watching him play and now I am a demoman main
The intro actually made me thought that I accidently opened up Half-Life 2 LOL. Also, MewZe from which software did you edit the head turn 5:34, it was actually pretty good.

ME TOO
TF2 was my first ever FPS game. I love TF2.
I also heard the soldier theme used quite a lot, and I would like to say, rest in peace Rick May
❤
I want to create a class based game like tf2 because there are not many classbased shooters that give a casual experience (which has updates) so like none at all. It would have just 7 classes but with many different weapons with my own spin. it probably would be bad but if I ever get into game development thats what I want to make. What do you think should I add?
Akimbo pistols/uzis, exploding throwing knife, Tesla cannon
Look at that- another man who thrusts himself forward to bump shoulders with the likes of LazyPurple and Uncle Dane! Amazing video! Looking forward to more with this excellent style that perfectly combines comedy and fantastic points made in the game’s favor!
