Unfortunately it also brings out the cranks and conspiracy theorists. The authors of this talk need to do some weeding and banning of these comments on an otherwise high quality conversation by real scientists trying to serve the common good of society.

Before that my Mother was stricken with colon cancer she had a young Doctor friend that what he enjoyed doing was picking up older MORE MATURED WOMEN much like yourself and hanging out with them doing thing's that not necessarily he liked to do. He enjoyed hanging out with them to do things that THEY LIKED TO DO!!! However before that he became a Doctor my mother ran a sleeping room house and stayed right there with her Tennant's. When the Tennant's were home sometimes she was the guidance that they needed to get back on track. Well this promising young man he was foriegn so he had no family here so my Mother because his American mom. I was so proud of my Mother for doing what she did for him. This promising young man was STILL IN SCHOOL to BECOME A DOCTOR. One day he talks to his AMERICAN MOM and told her that he was going to QUIT MED SCHOOL!!! My Mother told me that she told him that he wasn't ALLOWED TO QUIT!!! My Mother told me (imaginary picture in your mind here) that she told him she was going to put her foot up his butt and he wasn't ALLOWED TO QUIT!!! This young man is a Doctor today simply by ONE person making such a difference in his life. The last time that I saw him he visited my Mother and talked to her and told her just how much she meant to him and he told her how much she meant to him he told her just how much he loved her. Then that day he told her goodbye because my Mother was so close to dieing that he knew that he would never see her alive again. I invited him to her funeral but he told me that he wanted to remember her pretty much the way that she was. I'm glad that they had this relationship as.... although my Mother had five children some of them just didn't spend a whole lot of time with her. My Mother was 72 when she died in 2012 Every day it seems like her death just happened early this morning. I sometimes get such a longing for her that I could travel back in time and be there just long enough to be able to hug her and tell her just how much I love and miss her. 🎠
The biggest fault in terms of preventing the spreading of this is that the majority of people getting tested already show severe symptoms rather than those that show slight symptoms or are potentially asymptomatic. Because really, testing those that already show sympotoms is like taking a pregnancy test when you're 6+ months along, haven't had a period, and are already showing in the abdomen.
Allll those people who test positive and have no symptoms:.... false positives and/or...this virus , even if a prematurely leaked bio weapon, is not all that strong.
Isn't it necessary to test a symptomatic person to determine what they have: Covid-19, the flu, bacterial infections, etc. (all with similar symptoms ) to inform your treatment.
Questions: 1. Where is the solid proof of the purified and isolated virus? 2. What is the primary specialist peer-reviewed paper where the virus is illustrated and it's full genetic information described? 3. What is the primary publication that provides proof that a particular virus is the sole cause of a particular disease?

I find your discussion so engrossing and an actual relief from the "NEWS" and "SOCIAL MEDIA" where I don't have a clue what to believe or how to know what is anything near the TRUTH. You are honest, base your sharing on the data as you know it through scientific exploration and lifelong learning. I might not like all that I heard you say, but I appreciate hearing the truth. Your step by step teaching for those of us who are not scientists or used to the jargon has helped me to understand some of the nature of this virus, how we have learned through past epidemics, what we can expect from this virus and future viruses. From Justin's response to his own family and friends, I appreciate that my job is to live one day at a time and it is also my responsibility to cooperate giving each of us and all of us the best opportunity of survival and flattening the curve of occurrence. From your discussion of open sourcing, sharing of global professionals, encourages me to do all that I can to help those who are full of fear, who need reassurance, who need some one to call or text. I suffer from an insatiable curiosity... As a result of this, from the very start of this pandemic I have seen about a couple of dozens of introductory-type of videos, discussing viruses, virology and epidemics. So far, this is the best. Concise, clear-cut and to the point. THANKS for sharing...
It's bad for the statistics. Testing symptomatic people doesn't help so much in other aspects. As long they are not very ill there is no specific medicine or treatment and you should isolate yourself anyway so the result of the test doesn't change how you or the health care should act. Testing should primarily be done where it helps stoppning the spread, for example all personal on residential homes/nursing homes for old people should regularly get tested.

Not testing symptomatic people is bad, it's unfortunate that this is happening in many countries due to a lack of test kits, other resources, logistical and organisational problems. The more data we acquire, the better the statistics, the better the understanding, the better the decision-making on how to respond to this pandemic. Even negative test results provide useful information.
@@belumptuous Testing without actions is quite worthless. Testing with tracing and isolation is on the other hand a good thing and enable parts of the society running.
It's not necessary at the moment bc the lab/healthcare system is already heavily overburdened with testing critical symptom patients, and those at high risk (healthcare workers, elderly, pre-existing conditions). Testing labs in a lot of places are running 24/7 already. I'm 90% sure I got the virus back in mid-November, which I got from my work where people were sick in October (in the US)... So eventually it would be a nice statistic to have for tracking strains, mutations, and infection rate. Perhaps when the curve slows down in a few weeks or months then it can be focused on- as there is still a lack of testing.
Please publicize the comment near the end of the discussion, that the cities that controlled contact in 1918 were also the ones that did the best economically. These are mutually existing rather than mutually exclusive.

This has been an excellent conversation! I am from an Engg background with little or no knowledge of Biology. I learnt a lot from the 3 presentations and the general conversation that followed. I had read about Social Distancing / Quarantine and it was annoying me to no end (Very strict lockdown in India, much more stringent than US or other Western nations). This answered quite a few queries ... I hope the policy makers in India are listening to people like this and will take call tomorrow about extending the lockdown or graded easing of lockdown ... Really really good. Can you do a shorter version for the general public that covers the more simple parts? The diagrams and visual aids were great. Possibly move through them more slowly. If presenters reading their presentation could go a bit slower with more pauses? Editing this down to a 30 minute presentation could provide an easier explanation for non-biologists to digest, even school children! Again a great great job. Mr. @@henkster6067 Thanks for your reply. Possibly you are right. They made it seem so easy. I was thinking possibly they could at least edit the existing material down to a shorter version. It wasn't that the basic concepts were so difficult to understand as it was the length and more detailed discussion provided. Personally I received a lot of benefit from the presentation. However it took me three sittings to get through it. Younger people and those less informed may not be able or willing to do that. I do believe that a public university does have some responsibility to make important information like this accessible to the general public. For me this seems especially true during a confusing and difficult pandemic like the one our world is currently experiencing. Hopefully UCSD doesn't consider itself an ivory tower. I do seem to remember that the moderator asked for suggestions at the end of the presentation. Possibly this was just wishful thinking. However, decades ago when I was younger large universities always did things to make their great knowledge accessible to the general public. This inspires future generations of researchers as well. Again, thank you for your reply and I hope this response further clarifies what was suggested and what I am encouraging the presenters to do. Could you address the way the fe2 and fe3 in relation to the red blood cells unable to carry the 02. And that a drug like hydrochloroquine combined with zinc and a zpak added if pneumonia should develop are ending symptoms with 9 to 12 hours in repeated trials.

If you happen to find a link connecting ccr5 to its important function as it relates to sars-cov-2 I would appreciate it greatly. It feels like certain little parts are either intentionally or accidentally omitted or referred to by an alias name which I’m not familiar with. I have a few gaps to fill in before I can present a theory to a senior immunologist on my side of the pond.
Tzipi7 Misunderdtanding! Ccr5 is an example if how cell surface receptor variants can confer resistance to a virus. In the case of HIV, the ccr5 mutation helps prevent HIV gain access to CD4 cells. It is not relevant to SARS-COV2. Research will show if some people are resistant to this new virus. If so, I would guess it will be because of a variant in ACE2 since it is this membrane protein that mediates infection. But, that is just a guess.

This is a great explanation of the current knowledge and I really wish this was more front page than the sensationalist articles that currently occupy these positions. The best defence against the shock and fear, which will ultimately spread it more, is a proper understanding of how it really works. Nothing kills panic quicker than shining a light on the monster under the bed.
Makayla Forbes there’s recently been a discussion about the facial expressions used by ASL interpreters, where they’re trying to convey emotional information usually conveyed by tone of voice in a visual medium. Some people have seen the exaggerated expressions as comedy, others have explained that conveying emotional information is a big part of communication. Given what we know so far with this, a little bit of panic is justifiable, and has to be communicated. Not enough to go off the deep end, but this isn’t the typical nightly news.
I wasn't saying that caution and proper preparation shouldn't be followed, or that people shouldn't be concerned. There is a big difference between being informed, cautious and prepared and outright panic. It doesn't take that much to understand the difference
Not only that .... There is a BIG difference between watching instructional messages for conduct from your government or local news reporters and sensationalist reports from sources that can't or won't back up claims of things that are happening. A video of someone collapsing from exhaustion can be twisted into something darker in an instant. In short, its much better to have FACTS than to rely on guesswork and imagination. The truth can be your best friend in a sticky situation.

The answer at 43:23 is fascinating. Some of the viruses that newly enter the human population essentially "haven't learned to live with us"! By that, it means that the aggressive ones end up killing too many of us such that they eventually also lose their habitats. Thus, the viruses have to mutate and lower their lethality to settle at some equilibrium point such that they continue to propagate their patterns.
I hope that of the people who contracted COVID-19 (living and deceased), that it was possible to obtain at least some health history information was so that we can possibly discover what made this person vulnerable to this COVID-19 attack. Information I'd like to know: 1) patient's nutritional status 2) did they vape 3) did they ever smoke *anything* 4) did they routinely and/or excessively drink alcohol 4) were they prescribed ACE-inhibitors or statins 5) were they overweight 6) did they exercise regularly

So it may be difficult to know exactly *which* vaccine is implicated, if indeed a vaccine could weaken the immune system. (Again, I'm trying to be neutral.)

But more vaccines have been encouraged for seniors (so maybe my use of the word "routine" was not precise), such as for shingles, hepatitis B and two vaccines for pneumonia. Then we have the relatively new vaccine addressing HPV, which is given to adolescents in several doses. Kids are now also given a vaccine against chicken pox. Do we know the long-term consequences of these newer vaccines? There are other ingredients in these injections. Plus, pharmaceutical companies cannot be sued for malpractice if these vaccines happen to cause medical complications. What's wrong with that? The first thing which comes to mind: less need to have longer studies which confirm safety (or rather, we hope the study is long enough to reveal some of the risks, if they exist).

Why? This is surprisingly useless information. They use a lot of jargon, but most of the time all they are doing is describing their observations with fancy words. But they don't have any clue about the mechanisms behind the observations. You cannot use any of this information at all. They have no clue.
@Dan Ryan I didn't say it is bullshit. I said it is useless. We do not understand how the virus enters our body (our body lets it in, the virus does not 'bore' or 'drill' its way in). We do not understand how the virus reproduces. We know that the proteins and lipids that it has tricked our cell into making, all come together, but why or how? We do not understand how our body fights it. We do know that we produce antibodies. But how? Why are some people not able to? Can your 40 years of study in the field answer any of the unknowns above ? I doubt it. You can study a subject for a million years and still not understand. A good scientist is able to say that up front. What these (and you as well) are claiming a lot of knowledge, but have zero clue about the process which could help us fight the virus. Hence my conclusion: Totally useless jargon-laced litany of their observations, zero usable information.

Thank you so much for doing this. I actually learned instead of just watching coverage of the pandemic, which never seems to impart anything useful. While this remains a terrifying and seemingly life altering pandemic, I feel more settled after this. Perhaps the increased understanding of how what I'm doing and encouraging others to do actually works makes it easier to deal with. I also realize there are way too many lay people virusplaining to us and making matters worse. The humility of these experts when addressing issues outside their specialty is refreshing.

A "deep" look didn't include the isolation of and the source of the disease in the Virology Lab in Wuhan and it's release due to sloppy laboratory techniques and basic practice.

No one knows the mortality rate, because no one knows the number of people who had virus. This, I would assume, is a huge obstacle to accurate data and projections. C'mon man. Humans have "grown up" around animals. @@susanblood7397 exactly!! You know what works?! Eating a healthy diet and exercising. Generally speaking, healthy people don't die of disease. Take away all the deaths blamed on corona which really had to do with preexisting conditions, even in the elderly, those with comordities (multiple diseases, were the majority of the deaths), and how many deaths are left? Corona isn't the issue. But why point out that people should be accountable for their health? Our bodies are incredible machines built for survival. There are exceptions where people who appear healthy get very ill or die, like cancer, and hyper/autoimmune response, which will take a more diligent effort due to the toxic world we live in, water like you say, is one issue. But for the most part treat your body with love and respect, give it the right fuel, and exchange TV hours for some movement, your body will protect you. You wouldn't put diesel in a gas engine, move, you don't expect a car to run after it's been sitting idle for long periods of time, so why would anyone do that to that to the most valuable machine they have?! It's so simple. Educate yourself on nutrition and disease, at the very least. But instead, fast food restaurants and liquor stores are essential and killing it while ever other business is suffering and gyms, parks, beaches, hiking, nature, schools, closed. Let's keep everyone inside, watching Netflix, eating junk food and drinking the pain away, full of negative energy and stress and hooked on drugs, sorry, medication... All things that lower your immune system and put you at greater risk of disease. I'm sitting here healthy, fit, educated, fear and anxiety free. I KNOW my body will beat the virus, I never get sick and when it's my time, it's my time, I don't have control over that. If it's now, it will happen but probably not from corona.
@@taliadavid858 I've been taking high doses ever since I realized my doctors saw me as a lab number and didn't have my back. I started reading my labs and researching what everything meant. My levels were always lower than what the lab considered low, and it was never brought to my attention. I've always gotten plenty of sun and my diet is very healthy, vitamin defeciency was not on my radar. That was 10 years ago. I know the ins and out of my body, I've learned how the separate systems of the body work individually but mostly together, it's fascinating. I've researched the hell out of corona and read every study I could find. It's not getting me. The pharmacy in our house is 99% natural. There is a place for pharmaceuticals but it's not this. Take care of your body and with some rare exceptions of hyper/auto immune responses, your body will take care of you.
Before we undertake to vaccinate the whole world making certain people irrestively powerful and wealthy we should answer the following questions about the 1918 Spanish Flu: 1.) In an era when there was no treatment available, no antibiotics and no vaccines, why did this flu extinguish itself? 2.) Did it exhibit an age, race or blood type preference? (Predilections which it is difficult to explain how an evolutionary process could exhibit? Designed, not evolved?)
There was vaccines. Thats what caused the 'spanish flu'. The doctors gave all these people vaccines to get rid of all their stock after the war. There was treatment aswell. Aspirin overdose caused a lot of deaths.
@@catkin-z8g Sorry, this is not true. The first "vaccination" was small pox in around the 1790's, but this was not an injection with a killed or attenuated virus. Basically, they scratched a sore from someone infected with a needle and also scratched a well person. Many times that person got the actual disease. The first true vaccination was pertussis (whooping cough) in around 1926-27. The first widely used vaccine was polio. I had it around 1955, the first vaccine I ever had. Couple of years earlier there was such a serious outbreak of polio that they shut down school for a couple of weeks. Everybody was terrified, much worse than now because it effected mostly children and young adults. It was practically unheard of for someone over 30 to contract polio. BTW, there was also widespread spraying of DDT which killed flies and probably was what got it under control before the vaccine was developed a couple of years later. Difference to now? Polio was a natural virus, not like the bioengineed weaponized variety these monsters have created in the lab. They should all be executed.
D k Barker We have historical markers where entire towns were wiped out by the Spanish flue. And social distancing was extreme. People wouldn't go near the town. I'm 77 my great grandpa told me stories when wagon trains with smallpox stopped and nearby people helped them by leaving wagons with food and blanket a quarter mile away from them. Then burning the wagon when it was empty. Social distancing is a tried and true method of stopping disease. And smallpox vaccinations stopped it completely. Like it or not. Use your damned brain man.
I think most of the medical experts would love to find a simplistic interpretation of the behavior of pathogens, yet are rarely presented with such an easily obtainable overview. How can social distancing work well when you share your house with people who go out to work or do some small thing that releases the virus into your space? Obeying social distancing measures are easily broken even by the most diligent, well-meaning person. You can only live in a bubble for so long. Sooner or later, you're going to have to break loose.
It is safe to assume then that if one member of the household is positive and asymptomatic , then there is a very high likelihood that everybody in the household could be infected and there is no point of maintaining social distancing within the household. However, when each of these members of the household go out to the community, social distancing minimizes the chance that these people spread the virus to others.
@@bybrum how could you be sure when you're social distancing that nobody would make the mistake of getting close to you inadvertently? It's like when you're driving defensively, you can still find yourself in an accident because the roads are in disrepair and people's cars are falling apart. It's impractical to assume that everyone could be one hundred percent careful. Many people don't even understand what viruses are and how they are transmitted. Social distancing should be replaced by forcing people to clean up the right way.
This is great for educating older teens/young adults who are interested in science. Talking points: Where does Covid-19 come from? How do viruses related to Covid-19 act? How infectious is this virus? What types of medications are being developed? How does our immune system react to this? Can we be infected more than once? Will this evolve? Will this eventually affect us similarly to the seasonal flu? What challenges do we face in creating a vaccine?

I have a question to Matt -- The fatality rate for SARS-CoV-2 is given as 1% - 3%. Wanted to know what is the denominator is in this ratio. Is it the number of people who are covid-19 positive in PCR test or is it the number of people who have built antibodies (serology test / shown as the grey circle in Emily's PPT).

In order to know the real death rate, you need the total number infected...ONLY THEN do you have an accurate death rate...Per CDC, statistics for TB, also highly contagious & virulent, the total infected is = 75x hospitalizations. A week ago or so, the number of CoViD-19 hospitalizations was 45K. So 75 x 45K = 3.375M extrapolated total infected. At the same time the hospitalization count was 45K, the death count was just under 9700. 9700 / 3.375M = 0.002874 or A LITTLE OVER ONE QUARTER OF 1%.The models are defective & biased toward overreaction. LET'S GET BACK TO WORK ON MAYDAY!

The Copper is needed to make up for Copper lost from adding Zinc. The Zinc inhibits viral replication. The Green Tea, or Quercetin or Molybdenum act as a Zinc ionophore which enables Zinc to enter your cells and inhibit viral replication in your cells. @@timothyjohnson1511 I like your recommendations. Vitamin C under 1000mg daily isnt going to do much. 1000mg should be taken every 2-3 hours. Zinc will lower copper but it takes a little time and is dose dependent. The body gets a lot more copper in the diet on average, whereas zinc is usually lacking. I would also add andrographis and reishi mushroom extract to this mix.
And vitamin D and just using hot steam And maybe lemongrass or eucalyptus or something that opens your airways when you dry cough alot reduces the coughing which reduces how much you spread droplets.

Please elaborate on whether a person's blood type makes them more susceptible to covid-19. ( I heard there was a small study done months ago and results were that the A blood type had worse symptoms and more susceptible!) Please try cover a similar study. Well this promising young man he was foriegn so he had no family here so my Mother because his American mom. I was so proud of my Mother for doing what she did for him. This promising young man was STILL IN SCHOOL to BECOME A DOCTOR. One day he talks to his AMERICAN MOM and told her that he was going to QUIT MED SCHOOL!!! My Mother told me that she told him that he wasn't ALLOWED TO QUIT!!! My Mother told me (imaginary picture in your mind here) that she told him she was going to put her foot up his butt and he wasn't ALLOWED TO QUIT!!! This young man is a Doctor today simply by ONE person making such a difference in his life. The last time that I saw him he visited my Mother and talked to her and told her just how much she meant to him and he told her how much she meant to him he told her just how much he loved her. Then that day he told her goodbye because my Mother was so close to dieing that he knew that he would never see her alive again. I invited him to her funeral but he told me that he wanted to remember her pretty much the way that she was. I'm glad that they had this relationship as.... although my Mother had five children some of them just didn't spend a whole lot of time with her.

The biggest fault in terms of preventing the spreading of this is that the majority of people getting tested already show severe symptoms rather than those that show slight symptoms or are potentially asymptomatic. Because really, testing those that already show sympotoms is like taking a pregnancy test when you're 6+ months along, haven't had a period, and are already showing in the abdomen.

What about the SYMPTOMATIC people who can't get tested? There could actually be FAR MORE than 10x the number of KNOWN infected people, in the USA.
It's bad for the statistics. Testing symptomatic people doesn't help so much in other aspects. As long they are not very ill there is no specific medicine or treatment and you should isolate yourself anyway so the result of the test doesn't change how you or the health care should act.
Testing should primarily be done where it helps stoppning the spread, for example all personal on residential homes/nursing homes for old people should regularly get tested.

@@lubricustheslippery5028 No, it is a failure at a population level. Not testing symptomatic people is bad, it's unfortunate that this is happening in many countries due to a lack of test kits, other resources, logistical and organisational problems.
The more data we acquire, the better the statistics, the better the understanding, the better the decision-making on how to respond to this pandemic. Even negative test results provide useful information.
@@belumptuous Testing without actions is quite worthless. Testing with tracing and isolation is on the other hand a good thing and enable parts of the society running.
It's not necessary at the moment bc the lab/healthcare system is already heavily overburdened with testing critical symptom patients, and those at high risk (healthcare workers, elderly, pre-existing conditions). Testing labs in a lot of places are running 24/7 already.
I'm 90% sure I got the virus back in mid-November, which I got from my work where people were sick in October (in the US)...
So eventually it would be a nice statistic to have for tracking strains, mutations, and infection rate. Perhaps when the curve slows down in a few weeks or months then it can be focused on- as there is still a lack of testing.

This has been an excellent conversation! I am from an Engg background with little or no knowledge of Biology. I learnt a lot from the 3 presentations and the general conversation that followed. I had read about Social Distancing / Quarantine and it was annoying me to no end (Very strict lockdown in India, much more stringent than US or other Western nations). This answered quite a few queries ... I hope the policy makers in India are listening to people like this and will take call tomorrow about extending the lockdown or graded easing of lockdown ... Thank you so much for your time and your ability to share your knowledge with all of the terrified across America (that would be me). My wife’s cousin died of COVID19 two weeks ago in Los Angeles. With that, our family has been impacted and we are all very worried as her children and husband have also been infected. They have survived, but who knows if there will be other issues associated with their illness. We are deeply appreciative of your time.
Really really good. Can you do a shorter version for the general public that covers the more simple parts? The diagrams and visual aids were great. Possibly move through them more slowly. If presenters reading their presentation could go a bit slower with more pauses? Editing this down to a 30 minute presentation could provide an easier explanation for non-biologists to digest, even school children! Again a great great job. It wasn't that the basic concepts were so difficult to understand as it was the length and more detailed discussion provided.
Personally I received a lot of benefit from the presentation. However it took me three sittings to get through it. Younger people and those less informed may not be able or willing to do that. I do believe that a public university does have some responsibility to make important information like this accessible to the general public. For me this seems especially true during a confusing and difficult pandemic like the one our world is currently experiencing. Hopefully UCSD doesn't consider itself an ivory tower.
I do seem to remember that the moderator asked for suggestions at the end of the presentation. Possibly this was just wishful thinking. However, decades ago when I was younger large universities always did things to make their great knowledge accessible to the general public. This inspires future generations of researchers as well.

Could you address the way the fe2 and fe3 in relation to the red blood cells unable to carry the 02. And that a drug like hydrochloroquine combined with zinc and a zpak added if pneumonia should develop are ending symptoms with 9 to 12 hours in repeated trials.

Tzipi7 Misunderdtanding! Ccr5 is an example if how cell surface receptor variants can confer resistance to a virus. In the case of HIV, the ccr5 mutation helps prevent HIV gain access to CD4 cells. It is not relevant to SARS-COV2. Research will show if some people are resistant to this new virus. If so, I would guess it will be because of a variant in ACE2 since it is this membrane protein that mediates infection. But, that is just a guess.

This is a great explanation of the current knowledge and I really wish this was more front page than the sensationalist articles that currently occupy these positions. The best defence against the shock and fear, which will ultimately spread it more, is a proper understanding of how it really works. Nothing kills panic quicker than shining a light on the monster under the bed.

Some people have seen the exaggerated expressions as comedy, others have explained that conveying emotional information is a big part of communication.
Given what we know so far with this, a little bit of panic is justifiable, and has to be communicated.
Not enough to go off the deep end, but this isn’t the typical nightly news.
I wasn't saying that caution and proper preparation shouldn't be followed, or that people shouldn't be concerned. There is a big difference between being informed, cautious and prepared and outright panic.

The answer at 43:23 is fascinating. Some of the viruses that newly enter the human population essentially "haven't learned to live with us"! By that, it means that the aggressive ones end up killing too many of us such that they eventually also lose their habitats.
Thus, the viruses have to mutate and lower their lethality to settle at some equilibrium point such that they continue to propagate their patterns.

Do we know the long-term consequences of these newer vaccines? There are other ingredients in these injections. Plus, pharmaceutical companies cannot be sued for malpractice if these vaccines happen to cause medical complications. What's wrong with that? The first thing which comes to mind: less need to have longer studies which confirm safety (or rather, we hope the study is long enough to reveal some of the risks, if they exist).

We do not understand how our body fights it. We do know that we produce antibodies. But how? Why are some people not able to?
Can your 40 years of study in the field answer any of the unknowns above ? I doubt it. You can study a subject for a million years and still not understand. A good scientist is able to say that up front. What these (and you as well) are claiming a lot of knowledge, but have zero clue about the process which could help us fight the virus.

Thank you so much for doing this. I actually learned instead of just watching coverage of the pandemic, which never seems to impart anything useful. While this remains a terrifying and seemingly life altering pandemic, I feel more settled after this. Perhaps the increased understanding of how what I'm doing and encouraging others to do actually works makes it easier to deal with.
I also realize there are way too many lay people virusplaining to us and making matters worse. The humility of these experts when addressing issues outside their specialty is refreshing.

No one knows the mortality rate, because no one knows the number of people who had virus. This, I would assume, is a huge obstacle to accurate data and projections. This video sounds like science sprinkled with propaganda. At least we now know how to make people OBEY. I really loved the whole "climate change" fear mongering part. That was impressive.

I believe that attributing any "climate change fear-mongering propaganda", insinuating political bias of any sort on this presentation is missing the entire point. C'mon man. Humans have "grown up" around animals. It is only by grinding up animal parts including their viruses with your "target" virus adding additional foreign material and bypassing gut by injecting the resulting juice directly into human flesh and pretending it is an "attenuated" viral vaccine that has almost entirely resulted in these "jumps" falsely attributed to peoples bad eating habits.
Now you are going to add climate change to your list of causes which is another anchor around your proverbial neck. Those who have started looking at this, as well as the better known scientists from different fields can see the CO2 hypothesis does not even hold up under 2nd grade science. It's just another boondoggle for the useless human eaters at the top.
Remember this: every fool with a vial of virus is running it through some sort of meat so they can be first with the vaccine. What a world of fools. Bill Gates has already said "we" will pick just a couple to forcibly inject into all people.
There might be a lot more job opportunities in the fields of toppling those ivory towers, practicing some real science and cleaning up the water and environment around you. Imagine people throughout the world having clean water to drink instead of toxic injections.

Take away all the deaths blamed on corona which really had to do with preexisting conditions, even in the elderly, those with comordities (multiple diseases, were the majority of the deaths), and how many deaths are left? Corona isn't the issue. But why point out that people should be accountable for their health? Our bodies are incredible machines built for survival. There are exceptions where people who appear healthy get very ill or die, like cancer, and hyper/autoimmune response, which will take a more diligent effort due to the toxic world we live in, water like you say, is one issue. But for the most part treat your body with love and respect, give it the right fuel, and exchange TV hours for some movement, your body will protect you. You wouldn't put diesel in a gas engine, move, you don't expect a car to run after it's been sitting idle for long periods of time, so why would anyone do that to that to the most valuable machine they have?! It's so simple. Educate yourself on nutrition and disease, at the very least. But instead, fast food restaurants and liquor stores are essential and killing it while ever other business is suffering and gyms, parks, beaches, hiking, nature, schools, closed. Let's keep everyone inside, watching Netflix, eating junk food and drinking the pain away, full of negative energy and stress and hooked on drugs, sorry, medication... All things that lower your immune system and put you at greater risk of disease. I'm sitting here healthy, fit, educated, fear and anxiety free. I KNOW my body will beat the virus, I never get sick and when it's my time, it's my time, I don't have control over that. If it's now, it will happen but probably not from corona.

@@taliadavid858 I've been taking high doses ever since I realized my doctors saw me as a lab number and didn't have my back. I started reading my labs and researching what everything meant. My levels were always lower than what the lab considered low, and it was never brought to my attention. I've always gotten plenty of sun and my diet is very healthy, vitamin defeciency was not on my radar. That was 10 years ago. I know the ins and out of my body, I've learned how the separate systems of the body work individually but mostly together, it's fascinating. I've researched the hell out of corona and read every study I could find. It's not getting me. The pharmacy in our house is 99% natural. There is a place for pharmaceuticals but it's not this. Take care of your body and with some rare exceptions of hyper/auto immune responses, your body will take care of you.

There was vaccines. Thats what caused the 'spanish flu'. The doctors gave all these people vaccines to get rid of all their stock after the war. There was treatment aswell. Aspirin overdose caused a lot of deaths.
@@catkin-z8g Sorry, this is not true. The first "vaccination" was small pox in around the 1790's, but this was not an injection with a killed or attenuated virus. Basically, they scratched a sore from someone infected with a needle and also scratched a well person. Many times that person got the actual disease. The first true vaccination was pertussis (whooping cough) in around 1926-27. The first widely used vaccine was polio. I had it around 1955, the first vaccine I ever had. Couple of years earlier there was such a serious outbreak of polio that they shut down school for a couple of weeks. Everybody was terrified, much worse than now because it effected mostly children and young adults. It was practically unheard of for someone over 30 to contract polio. BTW, there was also widespread spraying of DDT which killed flies and probably was what got it under control before the vaccine was developed a couple of years later. Difference to now? Polio was a natural virus, not like the bioengineed weaponized variety these monsters have created in the lab. They should all be executed.

We have historical markers where entire towns were wiped out by the Spanish flue. And social distancing was extreme. People wouldn't go near the town. I'm 77 my great grandpa told me stories when wagon trains with smallpox stopped and nearby people helped them by leaving wagons with food and blanket a quarter mile away from them. Then burning the wagon when it was empty. Social distancing is a tried and true method of stopping disease. And smallpox vaccinations stopped it completely.

How can social distancing work well when you share your house with people who go out to work or do some small thing that releases the virus into your space? Obeying social distancing measures are easily broken even by the most diligent, well-meaning person. You can only live in a bubble for so long. Sooner or later, you're going to have to break loose.
It is safe to assume then that if one member of the household is positive and asymptomatic , then there is a very high likelihood that everybody in the household could be infected and there is no point of maintaining social distancing within the household. However, when each of these members of the household go out to the community, social distancing minimizes the chance that these people spread the virus to others.
@@bybrum how could you be sure when you're social distancing that nobody would make the mistake of getting close to you inadvertently? It's like when you're driving defensively, you can still find yourself in an accident because the roads are in disrepair and people's cars are falling apart. It's impractical to assume that everyone could be one hundred percent careful. Many people don't even understand what viruses are and how they are transmitted. Social distancing should be replaced by forcing people to clean up the right way.

I have a question to Matt -- The fatality rate for SARS-CoV-2 is given as 1% - 3%. Wanted to know what is the denominator is in this ratio. Is it the number of people who are covid-19 positive in PCR test or is it the number of people who have built antibodies (serology test / shown as the grey circle in Emily's PPT).

In order to know the real death rate, you need the total number infected...ONLY THEN do you have an accurate death rate...Per CDC, statistics for TB, also highly contagious & virulent, the total infected is = 75x hospitalizations. A week ago or so, the number of CoViD-19 hospitalizations was 45K. So 75 x 45K = 3.375M extrapolated total infected. At the same time the hospitalization count was 45K, the death count was just under 9700. 9700 / 3.375M = 0.002874 or A LITTLE OVER ONE QUARTER OF 1%.The models are defective & biased toward overreaction. LET'S GET BACK TO WORK ON MAYDAY!

The Copper is needed to make up for Copper lost from adding Zinc. The Zinc inhibits viral replication. The Green Tea, or Quercetin or Molybdenum act as a Zinc ionophore which enables Zinc to enter your cells and inhibit viral replication in your cells. Lots of documentation showing the benefits of Vitamin D and C. Search youtube.
@@timothyjohnson1511 I like your recommendations. Vitamin C under 1000mg daily isnt going to do much. 1000mg should be taken every 2-3 hours. Zinc will lower copper but it takes a little time and is dose dependent. The body gets a lot more copper in the diet on average, whereas zinc is usually lacking.
I would also add andrographis and reishi mushroom extract to this mix.
And vitamin D and just using hot steam And maybe lemongrass or eucalyptus or something that opens your airways when you dry cough alot reduces the coughing which reduces how much you spread droplets.
