Please do a follow up / organizing video! I love seeing regular, real life barns and how people make them functional for everyday use. Great job with such a big cleaning project! Pete does kind of have a point. Horses are demanding, therefore their owners can be demanding. It would be really interesting to have a honest, open panel of "horsey spouses" sharing their thoughts, experiences and advice on the matter.
Adding to my own thoughts: It would be very interesting to hear horse influencers' spouses' thoughts on how they draw the lines between "this is our lifestyle", "I'm participating in my spouse's hobby because I want to" and "I'm contributing to their business". Social media or not, it is very common in the horse world that a spouse/relative/friend who has nothing to do with a person's business per se is in fact working for it. Paid or unpaid. Social media might make these lines even more blurred? I totally understand not everybody is willing to talk about this, just a thought. It's a big aspect in many of ours relationships however, and I would love to hear some open, non-judgemental conversation about the topic.
Well done Meg. The barn looks so much better. It would be lovely to see it all finished, including the feed room. You trying to stir green paint into brown paint, was hilarious. Now have a fabulous holiday xxx
This makes me realize how helpful my husband was in doing my stable 😂 he put in all of the wooden fence posts by himself and I didn't use any t-posts at all. ❤
Well done on your determination and perseverance getting all that work done. What a mammoth task! It was worth it though. Looks so much more fresh and tidy. 👏👏👏
Loved the video Meg. Personal opinion: I definitely think paint the metal sheets inside the stalls (the stall walls) the black colour, and the frames of the stable doors but leave the wood stained brown like you did. The bars black as well, even the little box type ones. An idea could be to get name plates for the horses and put them on their stalls underneath or above the numbers 🤭
Barn doors are at a premium for decor in the US. They cost hundreds of dollars. You should consider cleaning it up and selling it. They suspend them on rollers and use them as sliding doors.
I can smell the clean! Yeah, it won't last but isn't it wonderful not to have spiders and go into winter brighter?!!! Love the makeover ❤! Please do part 2!🎉
Fabulous job!!! Looks so much better, and it is definitely true that hard work as it is, there is NOTHING more satisfying than deep cleaning your barn! I miss that, since I sold my farm. One suggestion: Next time you do this, consider painting the doors black, as well as all the wood inside the stables. It would look very clean and coordinated! And maybe raise the black up another foot or so on the stable walls to prevent the poo stains on the white. 🙂
It looks so good!!! This is exactly why our barn owner has a rotating schedule for barn deep cleaning. 😂 She does one stall at a time pressure washing, then does the feed room, tack room, and wash bay. Each stall gets painted every other year and the metal stall fronts also get painted every other year to protect the metal from rust. The wood and metal fronts are replaced when they need to be, or every 5 years. Whichever comes first. Then she puts down crushed bluestone with the mats over top. Its way less when you're doing one stall per weekend instead of all at once! She does it over summer so when we have a full barn a horse can be out in the attached field for the two days their stall is worked on. When we have an empty stall she'll keep it empty and rotate the horses so no one has to stay out. We are so extremely lucky to have someone like her that spends so much time on the cleanliness and organization of the barn. We only have 8 stalls so its not like a huge place and she and her family are the only workers. Keeping it clean is also a huge part of it, with the amount of effort she puts in, the boarders are held to the expectation that they sweep after themselves. Then we don't allow stuff in the aisle beyond halters and rugs folded on the bars so theres less places for dust and dirt to collect. All items beyond that afe kept in the tack closets for each stall/horse in the tack room. And she leafblows out the aisle every day after cleaning the stalls. I am so happy to have my mare in a place like that ❤
Having watched the whole vlog now, it looks amazing! I also feel 100% better about the monstrous amount of fall cleaning I have to tackle now after a summer spent being ill... at least there are (possibly?) fewer spiders in my house and I won't need to call on the pressure washer crew. Sign me up for an update on the finishing touches, please!
Hi ALL , Megan did you watch Harlow's barn make over . As you may find out where thay got the feed bins from . You are all doing such a great job . Thank you for sharing all you do Take care and all the best . A huge Thank you to all how helped out . 👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
So fun! Thank you for sharing your big barn wash. Especially enjoyed the spider screaming & laughing. Literally been there, done that when my sister & I spent a Summer cleaning out a pig barn full of spiders to build out horse stalls (stables). Forty plus years ago & I still recall the creepy crawly feeling & slapping my own face when hair escaped my bandanna & tickled my face like spider legs! 😂 Truly happy memories. Did I say 40+ years? It’s more like 50+! ❤
Great work Meg! The barn looks fresh and tidy- we can all appreciate the massive amount of work that went into, especially as it was complicated by still needing to access everything to care for the ponies at the same time! I’m definitely on Team Part 2 please! I don’t know if it’s possible over there, but in Canada, we sometimes use chest freezers (un plugged) to store feed. They are naturally rodent and weather proof, and some what temperature neutral. Keeps the freezers out of the landfill and is usually pretty inexpensive.
I have laughed so many times watching this vlog I love ur channel… I had to take a break from watching horsey stuff for a while but so good to tune in again
Pete knew what he signed up for when he decided Meg was the one guys - horsey boyfriends/husbands are engaged as needed when we get in well over our head on projects. 😬 The yard looks so refreshed, Meg. We all are appreciating it even if the ponies are spooked by it. 😂
Tidy up vlogs always inspire me to organise at home. So, thanks Meg🤗 Your stables & yard look amazing. I would love to see the completed work🎉. I hope you & Pete have a fantastic holiday - much deserved. Safe travels ❤
I love you ❤ you show every side and make me less self conscious of my self and Stables 😅 though I'm lucky as here in Australia my stables have no concrete under, only packed dirt with a Medium depth Loose Soil to river sand. They were built 25+ years ago as a Standardbred stud and even after 3 floods in the 14 years IV been here they dried out quicker then most of my paddocks. I have only had to redo 3 stalls out of the 10 to date but like you have I need to clean my stables 😅 I really need to de Clutter my Tack room 🤣 and the cobwebs 😬thank you for being so real about the equestrian life ❤️
This is why thick grippy gloves are invaluable. Also, I bet you cant find anything now :D nothing like the wiff of ammonia to clear the sinuses 😅 Is that Daddy Elphick?...I don't think I've ever seen except in the back ground mowing 😆
Looking great, Meg. I would have loved the doors in "La Paz", but the dark stain also looks very nice. FYI, "normally" we select our paint by referencing paint chips or samples and then the paint is mixed for us. 😅
Meg if you do the bars just use a tanning mit! Far easy than a paint brush, you'll have them all done in no time! Just remember yo wear a glove under the tanning mit xx
There is nothing more satisfying than a good deep clean/ organise. Very well done as that was a huge task, and it looks fab! So funny all the ponies were like....what's this? My messy bedroom is clean! 😂. What have you done Mum? Fun watch. Get some down time Meg, you deserve it. ❤
I'm a little late so you probably won't see this, but a fun video idea would be trying to tell your horses apart blindfolded! And as a bonus possibly test your theory about being able to tell the difference between their whinnies? P.S. love the extra long vlog!!
Oh, I loved this vlog sooo much❤ and it was well overdue to be honest 🙈and of course we need a part 2 (and 3, 4, …). For the cobwebs our yard has these rag balls (hope this is the correct English word) with long sticks to clear them. I would be sooo ready to cross the pond and come over to fine tune the cleaning and organizing that you have already done 😂
Well done meg, i opened you tube and you and hannah had both realeased videos over an hour long!! Lucky me! An organisation vlog would be amazing, enjoy your holiday❤x
Amazing job well done Meg! You have all worked soooo hard. Totally worth the effort. It looks so so completely different. CLEAN! Omyword! Crack on! You are amazing! 🥰🇨🇦
"It's already brightened up by opening that bit" " that's cause I turned the light on" 😂😂we love meg and king kenny

Meg family and not forgetting a very good friend jolly awesome job be proud.
I just discovered your channel. Loved it. Just subscribed.
If you paint the feed room white it would make it brighter and reflect the light at night.
I absolutely love these old style vlogs! Thank you so much, didn't stop laughing. I'm thinking that Susie needs to come for an organisation visit! 😊
Is it just me or have you never seen Megs feed room before now. Now I suppose we only need a tack room organizing video !!!
Real!
So real
Oh I've been waiting for this!!! Going making a cuppa and a biscuit then sitting down for the best hour and a half of my week 🫖☕🙌🏼
Yes please we definitely need a part 2. Would love to see more organising
Are you going to clean/organize the tack room? That would be so much fun to watch!!!
Well done Meg. The barn looks so much better. It would be lovely to see it all finished, including the feed room. You trying to stir green paint into brown paint, was hilarious. Now have a fabulous holiday xxx

Yes please do another vlog finishing up the tidying up of the yard!
Just getting to the end. This vlog was EVERYTHING 😅
Absolutely love these styles of vlogs. The mundane, day to day life is so relaxing to watch and relatable!
Well done on your determination and perseverance getting all that work done. What a mammoth task! It was worth it though. Looks so much more fresh and tidy. 👏👏👏
I'm so excited to watch this!!! I've been wanting to see a huge barn makeover on your yard forever!!

But do not clean it too much, leave the aging real, just get any poo off...

Loved this!!! You did such a good job of doing most of it on your own!! Definitely want a part 2 of organising ❤️ xx
Yes, a video about finishing up. ❤
Honestly Meg, you make any vlog a joy to watch, you’re an absolute natural in front of the camera and make anything fun times 👌🏻👏🏻🤔🤣🤣🤣🥰
YES TO A PART 2 and you could make it double the length and I’d watch every second 😂

Love the stain on doors! Much better than paint on that wood :)
If u want good metal feed bins, go for old chest freezers, take out the motor( heavy) rodent proof and waterproof😊
I’m constantly amazed at how hardworking and busy you are! And staying good spirited throughout too. Hope you have a fun, relaxing time in Spain.
The satisfaction of the painting and even the noise of the brush has me hooked hahaha
My favourite vlog ahhh
