You know what's strange? My feet being deformed from a lifetime of wearing "normal" shoes. As a kid, I thought my toes were crooked because I had too small shoes when I was very young, but turns out, it's just my feet being shoe-shaped, because my shoes were never foot-shaped! The triangular toe box (which we see even in running shoes) is a relic from the medieval era, when pointy-toed shoes were seen as attractive.
I bought a pair a long time ago but never wore them. Eventually forgot o had them. I dug them today and wore them around. The YouTubber is right. I prefer my brain to know what my feet should be feeling. I felt leg and foot muscles activating that I didn’t know I had. I’m going to use them for squat days at the gym.
Great summary of the many of the benefits, in just 3 minutes. I’m two years wearing vibram five fingers, all going well. Take your time to adapt, don’t do too much too soon and you’ll reap the benefits. I’m up to 20 miles trail and road running in my V-Runs, and feel completely vitalised. Also a step closer to completely bare foot, currently at 4 miles on the road.
I'll never understand why people get weirded out by these shoes when they have no problem seeing feet and toes at the beach, in their home or pool. Personally I think they are the hottest thing a human can wear. The tons of physical foot benefits is a big plus lol
Man I love how walking barefoot feels. It's exchanging energy with earth in a way we are naturally supposed to be doing. These shoes make that possible at last. I got mine and they are a godsent
Hi Nathan Yes you can. From the very start they were all designed to be amphibious. There are water specific ones though which perform better for this purpose. The V-Neop and V-Aqua.
Awesome. Love your energy. Shopping around for some today, been wanting a pair for years. Going for Xero DIY sandals kit, too! Before these, I had two pairs of Earthrunners, they're pretty awesome too, cept' for the little rocks / pebbles / and thing that would fly under my foot and in between the sandal bed. I'd very frequent find myself pulling them out from underneath that sandwich. However, I'd still find myself rating them four stars even then because of their wonderful comfortability. How's the running going? Cheers! -R
Yes they are breathable and machine washable at 30degrees. Like any shoes if you wear them without socks they can start to smell but stick them in the wash and this revives them. Also you can choose to wear socks.
Can any women reading this please tell me if you would ever consider dating a guy who wears these? I have a pair and they are super awesome and comfortable to wear and no doubt healthy, but I'm concerned it will repulse women and they will think I'm a nut job. I mean lets be honest, there is a reason everyone in a big city isn't wearing sweat pants. Is there any way to cover the toes with a piece of cloth or something to disguise the five toe thing, anyone have any ideas? The shoe would be more versatile if I could wear it in social settings.
I'm currently wearing flip flops but I wouldn't go out wearing them. The secret lies in the glue. Don't use any, and you can wear different shows for different occasions
Whether or not a woman will think you're wierd for wearing these is subjective and entirely dependant on that person. Not the fact that she's a woman. My advice is don't waste your time with someone who would take something like that into considering when deciding on whether or not they want to associate themselves with you friend or girlfriend. Just do you, the right person will come along eventually and see and admire that about you. That person is worth your time.
there are barefoot shoes you can buy that dont look like gloves. these are fine if you don’t care about what others think, and you really shouldnt care.
@@Tatusiek_1 I am aware of 'barefoot shoes' however I need a shoe that separates the toes so they stay apart while you are walking. I noticed a lot of idealistic answers, however the harsh reality is that a lot of women WILL judge you negatively if you wear a piece of fashion that is awful. And wearing ape shoes is about as bad as walking around with a huge brown stain on your shirt.
Overpronation can come from problems further up your leg or weakness in your feet. With proper coaching you can fix these problems. You certainly don't need a special shoe to do this for you as that's a little like wearing a plaster vs fixing the problem.
In addition to what Paul says. If you land correctly, on the front of your foot and under the hips, then your toes deal with what little pronation there is. Pronation really is as a result of wearing normal running shoes and landing with your foot in front of your body. Running brands tell you it's a normal thing. It isn't, and the flat sole accentuates it further.
What if u stub ur toe or stand on Lego with fin souls or stand on a nail I once stood on a nail and my shoe with a thick soul stopped it from stabbing me
You become more aware of your surroundings and watch where you're going. Additionally, you'd feel whatever thing it is under your feet faster and with more sensitivity, allowing you to quickly ease off instead of slamming your feet on whatever without care as you would in regular shoes.
@@caralynx exactly, that’s what propioception does. wearing thick soled shoes just conditions to slam your foot into the ground instead of intricately taking delicate footsteps to get an idea od what you’re stepping on before putting your whole weight on the area.
Just go barefoot. It’s a good thing you have the Vibrams to wear just in case you need shoes, but you’re only supposed to wear them when you’re forced to wear shoes.
It's all in the manufacturing and engineering. Other shoes are just one piece and a covering for the foot and many factories can do this. These actually articulate between the toes so the fabrics and manufacturing has to be first class. Plus when these shoes were first dreamt up all the tooling had to be made from scratch which is not a cheap thing to do. Yes you get less shoe with less protection. That is the whole point. Enough protection, but not too much that it compromises, squashes the foot and alters the way your foot should work.
Nice review of our favorite shoe. We started running/training/racing in them in 2012. We do a lot of adventure running in the, including our 24mi run Rim-To-Rim at the Grand Canyon. th-cam.com/video/sr8j5p3GQJs/w-d-xo.html Our favorite models so far are the Spyridon and the V-Trail(version 1). As certain local trails get more compacted and rockier towards the end of each summer, we will typically wind up wearing the FF's less (regrettably) because it becomes very easy to get really bad rock bruises through the thin soles. That's not a design defect in the shoes, it's just the kind of trails we train on. Our favorite shoes for rocky conditions are New Balance Minimus, especially the original V1 style, Merrell Vapor Glove, and Merrell Trail Glove. Remember; shoes are not a religion, shoes are tool. Choose the best tool for the job!
@@damvsv9452 We've had great success with the Spyridon model, so that's been our favorite version since discovering them in about 2013/14. My daughter also wears the v-trail 1.0's. My 2nd toes are longer and as a result of tight shoes when I was a kid my 2nd toes have always been bent. At 45 I dont know if correctoes will help

the V-Trek Insulated or the KSO ECO Wool
