I fully subscribe to the comment by Shehzad Malik. I am a Muslim but I feel disgusted with the narrow mindedness in the Muslim world especially the Pakistani Muslim. Mr. Hoodhby is an intellectual of the highest order. We should respect him and calmly listen to his discourses. So far what I have heard from his discourses, I have not found anything that I don’t agree with. I respect and admire you Sir. If you ever come to USA I will come and attend your talks no matter where in USA it would be.

He is a very great scientist, rationalist and a modern thinker without any baggage of Islamist thought & ideology. I admire him even as a practicing Hindu, to suspend my religious beliefs when it comes to Science which deals with physical phenomenon.

We are glad to see Prof Pervez Hoodbhoy, Professor Ishtiaq Ahmed, and many others criticizing the Two-Nation Theory, questioning the partition of India, and exposing Jinnah. In India, intellectuals and professors are also lambasting Gandhi.
However, the credit for initiating this discourse goes to author Nasim Yousaf. He was the first writer to expose Jinnah and Gandhi's dirty politics in his two separate books on Allama Mashriqi and Jinnah (published in 2007) and Allama Mashriqi and Gandhi (published in 2013). He criticized Jinnah and Gandhi’s politics, the partition of India, and the Two-Nation Theory long before professors, intellectuals, and the public started to question them. There was a time when Jinnah and Gandhi were heroes, but the situation has fast changed, and people with political acumen do not consider them heroes, rather tools in the hands of the British.
According to author Nasim Yousaf, "It has been established that Jinnah and Gandhi helped the British in partitioning India. Moreover, Pakistan was created by the British and not by Jinnah. Under these circumstances, writing more books supporting Jinnah and Gandhi and their politics is not a good use of time. It is now necessary to write more about how Jinnah and Gandhi helped the British to divide India. Why did Allama Mashriqi refuse to support Jinnah and Gandhi? People need to know this interesting and eye-opening information. Such a book would be in great demand and read by a large number of people."

Mr Parvez, this is first talk video , I have closely followed. . I appreciate this initiative .... that provides some breathing space to these students.....During some very straight questions by inquisitive children on which one way to follow, your were evasive of a clear answer....although from your talk it appeared, you could have answered that. May b mullahs keep you from doing that. I can make out mullahs in pakinstan are holding the free mind to ransom. This is an attrocity within the state....... These children need the fresh air to breathe so that society and their religious beliefs survive. They seemed curious. Children have to know that religion is something personal and a broad highway of belief...and unless they ask questions like why, how, when, what....and seek their own answers with an open mind, definitely not from the beholders of faith, they will not evolve as a better follower and leaders to be at peace with themselves and their ecosystem.....

I whole heartedly agree with you that there should be complete separation between the religion and the state. Also I agree that religion is a matter of personal choice. We may elect a religion by virtue of birth or adopt another one different from the birth but it must be accompanied with respect for other religions.

The attitude of Hamza and his supporters prove why Muslims are not so prosperous around the world without natural resources. Kids in the hall want to be a clown like Hamza who himself is a product of western prosperity. But they don't want to learn from professor, because professor is not as good entertainer as Hamza.

Tandoori Chicken 007 He does criticise India too. Recently, he said - India Pakistan ki raah par chal nikala hai. He praised Nehru to criticise the moves of current Indian govt which is anathema to most of the ardent followers of current Indian govt. So reality is that some Indians will definitely take offence while others will welcome that criticism or those critical observations from him or just anyone.

@@tandoorichicken0077 yes he had pretty much criticized just India on the kashmir issue. I am not a BJP or right wing supporter, but I would say that the issue is not so trivial as he had portrayed in the video.
The place is unfortunately a mess, and both Indians and Pakistanis, and somewhere even kashmiris are responsible for it.

Dr. Pervez hoodbhoy is a great, bold and free thinker, who should be applauded and supported. However, he is mistaken that true religion is opposed to science. Both spirituality and science seek truth in different ways. While Dr. Goodbhoy rightfully seeks separation of religion and politics, he himself identifies with only Muslim history, and not pre-Islamic history of India. This is sheer hypocrisy. Hopefully, Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy will study and appreciate the rich history of science and technology in India.
