Ooh lovely! All the best with it! We did wonder where it was…we guessed it was not far from us because of the squishy sounding land 😂 it’s a lovely little town….definitely be sure to pop into Marie’s Deli! Lovely, lovely people in there!
Hi Frannie, did it look much different 50 years ago? If it is the same Chinese take away, the front collapsed a couple of months ago while they were renovating it (or something like that) and part closed the road. It was all happening then lol. Thank you so much for watching and commenting on our day trip to Mohill :-)
Thank you Paul. This Mohill video seems to have sprung up again months after we did it, not sure why. We do like Mohill, we spent 7 hours there and the day flew by, just wandering from the top to the bottom with a coffee and a sit from time to time while we waited for the car. I love that stream at the bottom, I did nearly crash the drone once or twice mind. Thank you for subscribing, watching and commenting :-)
@@thecornerhouseproject yes someone found it and reposted it up on Facebook so it's been restarted few times since..alot of roadworks and new footpaths going down now in town so all over the place now at the moment, yes the stream or Mohill river as we call it continues on out into Lough Rynn, river is due a clear out after all the public realm works in town are complete so should be nice when all is done..drone work impressive down along the stream though,I'd be nervous of crashing it lol
Ah, that explains it then, well thank you to whoever it was who stuck it on Facebook. Mohill River, I like it. It will be lovely when cleared out, it is nice now, but with the over grown stuff gone, maybe the drone up it again might be an idea. I wanted to fly through the double tunnel part, but my nerves got the better of me. Thanks for the reply :-)
My mother's father's people came to the states in the early/mid 1700s from Leitrim county Ireland. It's so neat to see the countryside my ancestors lived in. I always wondered what it looked like. Your channel is great.
O’Carolan is the guy behind every piece of Irish harp music you hear. He’s from Mohill - and as hard as it is to play the harp, imagine doing it BLIND. Knocks me sideways just thinking about it….
Carrick-on-Shannon is a lovely town. The river is so wide. When we came to Ireland to look at houses and cottages we staying in the Landmark hotel with an across the river view. It was a love place to stay, Thank you for binge watching and commenting as you go.
Many thanks for this video! My partner and I will be moving from the UK to Leitrim/Sligo area probably early next year now. Your content is really informative (although we know the area quite well). Lovely to watch/listen to your experience! Much appreciated. Kx
Aww thank you! We love it here...it's so beautiful, wherever you seem to go it is beautiful! Apart from our back garden at the moment 😆🤣 Good luck with your move, to wherever you land 😊 x
No problem at all! Haha yes that was a day off and a half! That’s the longest time off we’ve had since we got here! Very pretty little place, I think I read that the population in 2016 was 800 odd people. Probably a little more now.
It really is Auntie Chris! No problem at all…we will try to remember to do more of our travels and then you get to see the other little villages/towns that are around us. Xx
We really like Mohill. We have been told it has changed over the years but sat at the bottom of the hill on the bench by the stream (I believe they call it the river, or small river?) was lovely. A bit of sun and the time flew by. What can you do for 7 hours in Mohill? We have no idea but we had a lovely day waiting for the car to be finished. Thank you for watching and commenting :-)
It really is a lovely place! That deli we mentioned in it…has some of the loveliest people owning/running it. We thought we would find it difficult to spend 7 hours in one place like that but it was really quite easy with how lovely it is.
Aww how lovely! It’s a lovely little place Mohill. We know someone who might be able to help you with that, if you send us an email I can pass on their email address to you. Our email is: thecornerhouseproject23@gmail.com
New sub / binge watcher here. You seem pretty close to Roscommon where another British family is restoring an old derelict homestead. Their channel is The Irish Homestead. Love your progress. Your house was certainly minging when you first bought it. It is slowly coming to life.
Haha yes minging is a very good word to describe it. Yeah we’re not far from The Irish Homestead and strangely we’ve just come back from visiting them today and they’ve been here a few times now too. It’s nice having people close by that are doing the same thing.
Yes, Mohill is very pleasant. The are just doing a few changes to the paths and some parking bays at the moment I think, but still a lovely place. Thanks for watching and commenting Ronald :-)
It’s a lovely place, how lovely too that you found out that about your ancestors and then have seen around a little bit of the area via our video. Warms my heart. ♥️ I have been doing my ancestry since 2006 and I know how exciting it is to uncover the history of all the people that ultimately led to you being here!
Oh to be young and healthy and doing what your doing. Two countries I'm mad about. Ireland and Australia. And knowing the wildlife in Australia, I would choose to live in Ireland. You, my friends, are living my dream. Thank you for letting me join you.
Ooh we like you William…us? Young? Thank you! 😉 ahh yes, I’m not sure I’d like the wildlife in Australia either! Happy here with the less deadly stuff! You’re most welcome along and thank YOU for joining us too 😊
I would get a small metal outside shed u can use at a later date to put ur bed and stuff in till u can get in the house!! Or clean up ur living room and use it because u have already took the floors above out.. when ur doing work above cover ur bed with plastic 😊
To be honest we are good in the tent at present, actually really like it! Lol. Once the joists are replaced in the kitchen…the bed will come in then and then all of our belongings that are in the living room will be moved upstairs so we can then do the joists in the living room too.
How far are you guys from Ballycastle Ireland? I lived there for one year. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖 my husband just told me you're in the south of Ireland Ballycastle is in the north he lived in Belfast Northern Ireland and then we moved to Ballycastle Ireland. And then I brought him to Oklahoma the past 24 years or I should say 22.
I wouldn't call Mohill south, it's not in Northern Ireland but certainly not down south. According to Google it's about two hours by car from Ballycastle, 122 km.
I can't speak for Jackie, but I think she meant Southern Ireland as in The Republic of Ireland and not the south in The Republic of Ireland such as Cork. Mohill is classed as the North West Jackie, so not too far from the Northern Ireland border.

Thanks for the late translation. I must admit I did have a wobble and couple of close calls above that stream as the wind was blowing straight down it, but I think I will leave the dunking to the professional drone sinker!
The hometown of my great grandmother...lots of relatives still there..such a gorgeous town! Love my Irish heritage and family!!!
It is a lovely little town, we have always liked it.
Thank you for watching :-)
We have just bought a derelict property in Mohill. Also have a TH-cam channel and lovely to see your vlog on what will be our local town.

No harm getting a day off and enjoying oneself.
Nice drone action as looking very nice.
